  • Do you have to do that every time you milk them?

  • @caholaway Hi Only when i dry them off prior to calving which is approx every 380 days

  • Always loved those Holsteins. I use TO-Day penicillin tubes and Mu-SE to dry the heifers/cows off. :)

  • oh my gosh it scares me how little people know about where their food comes from and how its produced. If people do not know why we dry dairy cows off, some serious agriculture education needs to get into schools.

no it doeasnt hurt the cow at all, it is for its own good to prevent infection. Cows naturally dry off as they stop producing milk around 9 months after their calf is born.

  • I did not know that Miss America will join stupid people in doing stupid things. Her crown should be taken away for injecting chemicals in to the teats of the cows. That is setting bad examples before people.

  • looks interesting lovely countryside...where is that?

  • What is the problem with these sick people. Why would they want to dry off the cows. If they do not need milk why do not they give the cows away to the people who need the milk. I did not know what they meant by drying the cows. I've never seen such a cruel thing being done to the animals.

  • @mahafakir do some research dude

  • @1oldgit What is the problem with this stupid You tubve. It wouldn't let me reply to stupid replies to my comments?

  • @1oldgit What does your research show dude? Do not drink the milk? Let me tell you what? I'll let the neighborhood kids have ball milking my cow if UI did not want its milk.

  • not orbeseal!!! penicilin!!! i am speaking rubbish lol

  • i was using the orbeseal treament thing the other week to treat the mastitis

  • how did the udder gold work? does it stay on long? seems a gud idea ne way!

  • Worked ok Seemed to get less mastitis at calving. Lasts 7 - 10 days. It dries and forms a protective skin over the teat

  • do you ever get time to go to the torranyard for a pint.

  • Passed it many times but have never been in the door !

    Maybe some day

  • How many tubes do you put in each teat ?? is it one penicilin and then one dry cow ??

  • 1 tube of dry cow penicillin in each teat followed by 1 tube of Orbeseal which seals the teat end

  • ooh right thanks :)

  • @holsteincowboy Hopefully I understand this. You place the penicillin up inside the teat, seal it off, then let the antibiotic do it's job for a few days? Then what. Does the covering slough off naturally and then back to milking? I am a rancher's grand daughter... open minded.

  • The antibiotic stays in the udder for 8 weeks when the cow is dry. The Orbiseal plugs the teat end which prevents infection entering the udder at calving time.

Any snow in your area ? Much of the UK is covered in deep snow (Coldest winter in 30 years)

  • Thsnks for clarifying. I'm in the Willamette Valley, Oregon. No snow yet this year but wicked cold winter. Single digits.

  • I love your videos! So informative, and they really show the care put into Dairy cattle.

  • would any of those products help treat mastitis in sheep?

  • Never tried the dry cow tubes on our sheep but the penicillin tubes for lactating cows work just fine

  • informative and entertaining as always. keep it up.

  • Thanks

  • gr8 vid!!! your cows r gr8
