I kinda like them both. Really the only thing that I didn't like about Routh's costume was his boots. They were a bit too short. The split in the top/front made them look a bit odd. Really the only thing I don't like about Cavill's suit is that Superman still needs to have his trademark red outer panties thingy. I just hope he still has red boots, AND that they are a bit taller on his legs.

No because the thickness of the fabric that guys wear for pants/ trousers hides such detail. I doubt Routh's package is not sticking out due to him being smaller, its due to the fact that the pants are thicker on his suit. Also the belt detracts from the crotch. Cavill's does not have a belt, and the pants are simply tighter around his package.

Neither suit impresses me, but I can live with both of them. 6 years ago Routh's suit was considered the modern update to Dean Cain's 90s suit and Chris Reeve's 70s/80s suit...and Cavill's suit just looks, I dunno,....different. I don't like the fake sculpted mucles on Cavill's suit, nor the greyish coloring. I wish Cavill's suit was a bit more bright blue. It almost seems like they tried to make Cavill's suit as different as possible just to be different.
I like the belt on Routh's suit but all the detail and texture in Cavill's suit, not to mention Cavill is clearly put on more muscle than Routh (not to say that Routh is in bad shape he is certainly a shitload more muscular than me) And the cape on Cavill's looks so much better. I think its the color in this particular video that makes Brandon's suit look extra bright blue, cus in the movie it doesnt look no where near that bright, it is actually a more toned dwn blue. That said I really like Cavil's suit too, at first I was abit miffed that the pants were gone, I atleast wanted a red belt lol. But now Ive really warmed to it, and I think it looks good. They've been very careful not stray too far away from the original look, its all still there if you really look at it.

the superman suit back in the day, were consider over the top; speedos, muscles, nice looking dude etc.. now today the suit changed with the time.. an the a lot of this is pads etc to appear sexy etc... i make costumes, an a lotof that is latex, silicone, padding etc an it looks good , that why they get out awad for best make up, costume, etc ... it very professionilty tagged etcc... very good.
The suit is kinda cool, but Why in THE WORLD would they get a British actor to play an American Hero? Not saying Cavill isn't great looking, but come on!!! glad they came to their senses and took the batman esque route by saying the classic costume would look awkward nowadays, redesign the outfit but still make it say "superman" like they did with the batman movies by not making the grey suit with the black or dark blue speedo and instead going for armor thats kind of what they did here and I like it although I do have to say the briefs had its use cause it did a good job of hiding their bulges...

Brandon Routh's performance was SO like Chris Reeve's that it was comforting. It made me like the movie more than anything else in it. But the story wasn't as great and no matter what the suit looks like, THAT'S what's gonna count the most. No "deadbeat dad" plotline and no "single mom Lois" and those'll be steps in the right direction. Superman Returns wasn't as epic as I'd hoped but Routh was good IMO. Cavill looks like he'll be good too

Take off the wristguards and the leg lines and the ab lines off Cavils costume. Make the belt the same color as the gold in the chest shiled. And yes give him back his outter pants. Superman is a symbol of justice and modesty. Rouths trunks out of the same fabric as Cavil's cape. And make the belt gold or yellowish like the S shield. Do that and Cavil will look fine. btw I took a look at the comic 52 Superman, and Routh with a cesar haircut looks more like the 52 then Cavil.

Routh and Cavill don't look like true Supermen lol.
Reeve has a more define and prominent look as Superman and Reeve actually looks like Superman in the Comics.Routh looks more like a Superboy Prime. Cavill looks more like Superman 1 Million especially with that new suit lol.Oh yea and Tom Welling looks like a Young Christopher Reeve so he would be like a Young Superman lol.

But a new look is overdue and I think he should generally loose the cape it is not practical.

I call it a draw. Neither suit impresses me, but I can live with both of them. 6 years ago Routh's suit was considered the modern update to Dean Cain's 90s suit and Chris Reeve's 70s/80s suit...and Cavill's suit just looks, I dunno,....different. I don't like the fake sculpted mucles on Cavill's suit, nor the greyish coloring. I wish Cavill's suit was a bit more bright blue. It almost seems like they tried to make Cavill's suit as different as possible just to be different.

I like the belt on Routh's suit but all the detail and texture in Cavill's suit, not to mention Cavill is clearly put on more muscle than Routh (not to say that Routh is in bad shape he is certainly a shitload more muscular than me) And the cape on Cavill's looks so much better. All in all its something different. I would rather be blown away by something original than simply just entertained by something familiar.

I think its the color in this particular video that makes Brandon's suit look extra bright blue, cus in the movie it doesnt look no where near that bright, it is actually a more toned dwn blue. That said I really like Cavil's suit too, at first I was abit miffed that the pants were gone, I atleast wanted a red belt lol. But now Ive really warmed to it, and I think it looks good. They've been very careful not stray too far away from the original look, its all still there if you really look at it.

the superman suit back in the day, were consider over the top; speedos, muscles, nice looking dude etc.. now today the suit changed with the time.. an the a lot of this is pads etc to appear sexy etc... i make costumes, an a lotof that is latex, silicone, padding etc an it looks good , that why they get out awad for best make up, costume, etc ... it very professionilty tagged etcc... very good.

glad they came to their senses and took the batman esque route by saying the classic costume would look awkward nowadays, redesign the outfit but still make it say "superman" like they did with the batman movies by not making the grey suit with the black or dark blue speedo and instead going for armor thats kind of what they did here and I like it although I do have to say the briefs had its use cause it did a good job of hiding their bulges...

Brandon Routh's performance was SO like Chris Reeve's that it was comforting. It made me like the movie more than anything else in it. But the story wasn't as great and no matter what the suit looks like, THAT'S what's gonna count the most. No "deadbeat dad" plotline and no "single mom Lois" and those'll be steps in the right direction. Superman Returns wasn't as epic as I'd hoped but Routh was good IMO. Cavill looks like he'll be good too

Take off the wristguards and the leg lines and the ab lines off Cavils costume. Make the belt the same color as the gold in the chest shiled. And yes give him back his outter pants. Superman is a symbol of justice and modesty. Rouths trunks out of the same fabric as Cavil's cape. And make the belt gold or yellowish like the S shield. Do that and Cavil will look fine. btw I took a look at the comic 52 Superman, and Routh with a cesar haircut looks more like the 52 then Cavil.

Sorry guys and girls, but the new suit looks like something from a 14-year-old's wet dream.
I prefer the classic, retro style suit.
Besides, the colour on the new suit is too dull, it's going to look grey once Snyder gets his colour filters on it.
Oh well, hopefully the quality of the film itself will be enough to help me forget about it.

The lack of red tights in Cavill's suit was so overwhelming that I never even noticed that his suit is such a dark shade of blue - almost charcoal gray. Didn't think I'd long for the Routh costume to return.

Brandon Routh's supersuit is way more respectable than henry cavill's, looks way more like superman too. to be honest, my huge interest to the hero was revived when brandon donned the suit. and with all due respect, i think mr. cavill looks like bruce wayne rather than clark kent.
