one doubt, dosen't 'taniavartanam' mean to 'repeat exactly same', for example, a mridangam repeat exactly same note as a morsing or a ghatam, a violin repeats exactly same as the vocal? but here only mridangam, so can it be called a taniavartanam?
Great tone, excellent dynamics and nuance, solid laya, and superb left-hand technique. Beautiful heart-felt music!Too bad there is distortion in the amplified sound.
kyaa baat. satish is a solid player. just heard him recently in minneapolis, gave a rock solid thani performance on a relatively complicated taalam of 9 beats. First 5 beats were in chatusram and rest 4 in tisram. It was like the sawari taals.
Its very rare to find such a artist who is so good and perfect in tonal quallity and perfect fingering even when playing higher speed and mainly the laya which is so beautiful and no comparison with other artist. Great job Sathish.
Plays mrdngm like its a tavil. Mixed compliment. It can work both ways. Very exciting, but can also overshadow the main artist and be a bit busy or noisy. For me, i find him technically great, but lacking in the kind of soulfulness you get in the greats like Neyvelli, Dorai, PMI, etc.
He is easily one of the most energetic mridangists in the world. Very modern in his expression. The type of mridangist that wrecks audiences across the world with the mridangams dynamics
