Personally, I thought the rating system was better (with the stars). It had more of a intellectual distinction to them where as the "dislike" button comes off more like a "disgruntled" button. It also can serve too much as an "easy button" for haters. With the other rating system, you could still give a vid one or 2 stars based on some merits in any given vid while detracting stars based on a some quality you may not like- but the process was a lot more thoughtful.
