I think it's stupid to dismiss people who listened to only their old stuff as "not real fans". Personally, I love everything Green Day has ever recorded, but everyone has different tastes, and the old stuff could've had a great impact on them at one point, but they don't quite have that connection with more recently recorded GD stuff...
