what KS is doing is dragging his butt in the wave and holding the outside rail- this actually slows him down a bit and stablizes the drop. he is actually leaning back into the wave just enough to be held in place. and then he slides in on a rail rather than making the straight drop and hooking back into the tube. its probably a safer way to surf backside..once he makes it down the face he lets go of the rail and starts surfing.
