Dramatic music, he not only loses Mia once, but twice and this theme sounds like he's desperate about protecting her even if it's an illusion created by AIDA, but it gives the feeling like he wants to be free, but is too afraid of doing so by himself.

Sora was data drained when skeith was awakened in .hack//sign. He fell into a coma which could attribute to his appearing to be "new" to The World. I'm not too up on the anime, but I believe he also stated a "friend of his played an earlier version of the game." It could be assumed that he was referring to himself, although I didn't watch enough of the anime to see if that is debunked or not. So don't take my word for it.

The violins set a slightly sad tone for this, while the bells and beat give it a malevolent feel. It's like the combination of Endrance's sadness mingling with AIDA's evil intentions.

It is Elk. After Mia was killed by C corp for the avatar, Elk became a zombie... then played R2 of the world under Endrance... which is why he seems anti-social and why he lets AIDA take over him for the sake of feeling like Mia is still alive... didnt you notice his obsession with "Mia"?
