@stevo728822 jealous much? This is the city that evented the modern skyscraper, the ferris wheel and many other things that you see in other cities today.
@3521usa How banal. The whole thing looks like a corporate hospitality suite offering the Boeing gallery (north and south), AT&T Plaza and a McDonald's cycle centre. The people of Chicago have surrendered their freedom of expression to the income statement and the balance sheet. Might as well have a massive TV screen showing ads all day long. A great opportunity missed. It could have been a park where the people of Chicago owned a small patch each for their children to tend.
@stevo728822 Clearly this is your opinion and you know what they say about opinions, right? I personally love Millennium Park and so does lots of other people because it is extremely successful and as I've stated before, lots of cities want to copy it. Also, Chicago has plenty parks for its citizens and their children to use. It also sounds like you've never been to MP b/c you would have known the place is packed with neighborhood children playing at the fountains in the summer.
@stevo728822 Finally, one great aspect of Millennium Park is that it's not your typical park. It has something for everyone and with a city like Chicago where you have an abundant of great traditional parks, why just add another? Wasn't your original argument about not liking things being the same or copied? As I've stated in my original reply to your original baseless comment, you come off as being envious or just plain clueless.
@3521usa I'm sorry but I can see nothing original in it at all. It appears to me to be the equivalent of a fast food outlet, visitors come, add nothing, and are fed some themed entertainment before the next batch arrives. It completely lacks imagination and surrenders to the consumer mentality of the day. A temporary drug for the masses which will probably decay into a memorial to failure. Perhaps then it will have its finest hour when the signs have broken and the paint has peeled.
@stevo728822 LMFAO!!! This statement is so ridiculously out there that I can't do nothing but laugh. Its absurdity speaks for itself, and for that, It doesn't even warrant an intelligent reply from me, which I'm pretty sure would just go over your head anyway.
@3521usa Oh I guess the reason other cities want to copy it is because it has the smell of corporate sponsorship all over it. i.e. the lure is the money.
Chicagoan and proud.

Comes across to me as city that just copies ideas from other cities i.e. little originality

@3521usa Mayeb, but in terms of urban planning there is little new here that wasn't conceived 100's of years earlier.
