  • Gary Numan is from the Pleiades like the rest of human mankind as some people saying.

  • 11 People had food poisoning at Zom Zoms

  • Numan bears a strange resemblance to Jon Cryer.

  • Back then looking you would have sworn he was gay alas he got married to some freak that was his fan (that he shagged about with on tour) before he decided to " commit to her.

Her being so intrigued she accepted it....stupid cow! lol

  • @whereangelsplay1 WOW HOW WRONG CAN YOU BE GEMMA MET NUMAN A FEW TIMES ALWAYS WENT ON HER WAY . ONE TIME AFTER A GIG SHE WAS UPSET HER DAD HAD JUST PAST ON THEY HAD A CHAT GEMMA GAVE NUMAN HER NUMBER SHE DID NOT HERE ANYTHING FOR A WHILE THEN ONE DAY HE RANG HER THE REST IS HISTORY GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT DICK

  • I loved him when wham were popular. I was called a FREAK!

  • @whereangelsplay1 I loved Numan very much then, but Wham too, don't see any reason to put them in hostility, anyway George Michael big personality in popmusic

  • @tmcontrols Your 150% fucking wrong. He has 3 kids and is married. The look is a genre of music. People on here can't understand or what. It's been around for 30 some years. Less bitches and more respect.

  • @tmcontrols Wow. Do some fucking research pal.

  • @GrimInstincts yep wow and they call themselves numanoids

  • @tmcontrols And you are 200% ignorant fuck.

  • @tmcontrols Do some research. He's married and has three kids

  • He stole that stage setup from the game show HOLLYWOOD SQUARES.

  • Oh Gary, you could tear the wires from my wall any day of the week.

  • what is WITH him and the triangles??

  • I would choose cult hero over pop-star any day!

  • Bloody brilliant

  • It's a shame this guy couldn't sing well. He could have been a superstar, instead of a cult hero.

  • @leonakita when your slim, male and sexy, its hard not to make those faces when in front of a mic and feeling it!!!!!!!!!(trust me)

  • the forced 'Bowieism's' crack me up...but i gotta hand it to Numan, he was a great understudy and made entirely diff music

  • check out gary numans new album dead sons rising awsome album, one of his best yet, for the rest of my life and the fall are outstanding tracks,i saw gary numan live mon evening, he was awsome!!!

  • Gary Numan is andropenis...

  • I love him. I'm 18 years old, but Gary Numan is the best artist in the world for me. One beautiful boy in a very elegant clothing made a great show, without using vulgar words or showing his body. He has a talent, he doesn't have to earn the applause with anything other. This is so sexy for me. Hundred times more sexy, than stupid, bare 'stars' of this time. I love you, Gary. You are really awesome. <3

  • @enieczka I couldn't put it in a better way.. Respects

  • @enieczka amen to that.

  • @enieczka yes agree, but popmusic is dead now, then times were different, suggest you listen to Zombie Nation or Major Lazer now, not

  • @getsensus not Rihanna, Gaga, Bieber.. I don't know, other so-called todays worthless 'popmusic'

  • cool.... so so cool...

  • Much more powerful than the original recording. Too bad it’s an abbreviated version.

    Nice bum though Gary…

  • Gary Numan was able to replicate the look of Kraftwerk so well. Numan had better vocals than them honestly.

  • AMAZING THEN..... AMAZING NOW :D

  • Bow down to synth. A legendary dark dystopian record.

  • Gary Numan was way ahead of his time!

  • Just 21 years of age here, brilliant, and remains so today

  • @Quadrant14 Awesome to see one of the younger crowd enjoying his music. Too many of tthem are obssessed with Lady Gaga and other talentless hacks of today. lames.

  • Back then he always gave the impression he was gay

  • @PinkSmarties72 more like androgynous

  • i only saw and heard 'Cars' before I saw this on VH1 years and years ago, was pretty impressed.

  • He was wayyyyyyyyy ahead of his time, and still influential to this day. Was I the only 10 year old at that time that thought he was stunning, rather than Wham! ?

  • rape machine

  • Why the fuck do you people have to put other music at the beggining of the videos?

  • Looks so uncomfortable without a guitar to hide behind, ace song and iconic images just the same.

  • 1:55 great movement!!;-)

  • I need a time machine but I have to now bear in mind that Numan was. a. total. whore.

  • At 1:55 when he starts touching his butt, I haven't been able to get my mind past that for the past two days man! Why the heck can't Gary dress like his today, I mean he is still skinny. He needs to go back to showing off the contours of his body.

  • I like that his tight pants/trousers show the shape of his butt! Take me higher Lord. I could forgive Gary his baggy looking jawline of today if he'd just go back to dressing like this.

I mean why not? I notice that Nick Cave and his band members always have a nice suit on for the most part!

  • HE'S A TORY! kill him! ha ha ha

  • @TheYazoo321 could be worse, he could be a Republican. our Republicans make your Tories look sane.

  • Vanguardia para su epoca ,pensar k esta cancion ya tiene 30 años,maestro Gary numan

  • Very sexy.

  • He still sounds like he came out of the future.

  • @madamewoselle Must have been even more incredible back in 1979.. Can't even imagine.. I think I'd pass out hearing that live..

  • @madamewoselle you mean.. like he came from another planet, right? :p

  • @kurcobein Hahahaha - yep.

  • @madamewoselle He is alien! He actually was retrieved from the flying saucer that crashed in area 41...the USA studied the baby alien and after nursing it back to health shipped it secretly to Britain for further study.. when GB was done w/it they tried to integrate it into society via adoption and secretive protection program...but the alien couldnt be stifled. It developed a small army as it grew (Tubeway) and a group of anarchist followers called Numanoids... today, the legend continues...

  • if damien out of the omen ever took up a music career his stage name would be gary numan

  • @dfstarborn Nice thought.

  • Yeah...great performance, but it's missing two verses, as others have stated.

  • amazing ! I still get chills listening to this and some of GN's other classics. Unless you lived it, it's hard to comprehend how big an impact he had on UK music scene and pop culture.......a living legend

  • I remember seeing this vid before MTV existed, haunting song, wont get it out of ur head if u listen to it.

  • Im not sure why but in this video they have cut out an entire verse, see at 2:16 he raises his left arm and the shot cuts to later in the song and he's got his right hand raised....hmmm, not sure why someone would cut out about 90 seconds of this fantastic song.......sorry just an observation.

  • Dope!

  • This is absolutely one of the best and darkest songs I've ever heard. Gary Numan & Tubeway Army could do no wrong:)

  • I wish this song could last forever. So amazing.

  • Why can't music sound like this today?

  • This must be a very disturbed man... chills... I just listened to a cover from The Foo Fighters, not bad. But this is the shit!

  • Gary's hand gestures are very mass controlling and I suspect the words may not be so important (so far I haven;'t really scrutinised them). Anyone else aware of Illuminati symbology and influence in any of Numan's other works?

  • @slessorpr the words r super important. The song is about a futuristic theme park called ZOM ZOM's where u draw a number...the unlucky winners have to try and survive some kind of obstacle course with "rape machines". So yeah, important words.

  • @WalkerEntertainment TY 4 telling me abt the significance of the words. This adds more layers to what GN does. An impressive artist, who has a rather Bowie like alienation & indifference/ambivalence, only with GN it's not just a 'phase' or a 'character'.. In this respect Numan's artistic integrity makes Bowie look like a dilettante. Do you think the Bowie reference unwarranted?

  • @slessorpr I see shades of Bowie here but it's a good thing, complimentary. Bowie, I do love him, but I don't see why he wasn't flattered.

  • Gary Numan - Remarkable Strength, Control, and Focus in this performance. A great showman draws you into his magnetic grasp. See the pyramid symbols, from 1979. GM knew what was going on if no one else, but the Capstone, at that time, b4 Icke popularised the 'reptile' idea, which gives the triangle/pyramid a more sinister message.

  • reminds me of freddie mercury a bit (not his music). at least he sings, not like this rap crap these days!!!!!!!!!!1

  • To all the haters....Numan has been seen as an inspiration to many of todays performers so please give the guy some credit!!

  • as much as i enjoy this music, he is very silly to me. :-) i like when he makes those faces. how can you not laugh?

  • for the people asking about the triangle& pyramid the egyptians used the pyramid as an ancient symbol of power and strength the triangle represents power unity and love for the three sides

  • Gary Numan was musically way way ahead of it's tíme in 1979.

  • The NUMAN!! I myself simply love this!

  • LOL

  • Is this on DVD?

  • Down in the park

    Where the Machmen meet

    The machines are playing `kill-by-numbers'

Down in the park with a friend called `Five'

  • The Girls under Glass Coverversion from "Down in the park" is great!

    Look by You tube!!

"Girls under Glass" is a Dark Wave Band...

  • Ahead of is time and ground breaking. Phenomenal.

  • Is he a mason or a sun worshipper?

  • The future was back then. Now we have the past.

  • i was 10 when i first heard this,,i was so thrilled that you posted this,,thanks

  • Wow, I love album, is just so brilliant...I <3U Gary Neuman....

  • how much acid did they do?

  • acid gary numan the non drinking non smoking and defo no drugs

  • Sheldon Cooper')

  • denasie:

ROTF Damn you, why'd you have to say that? I love both Gary & Sheldon, but Gary is much less annoying & Sheldon isn't as sexy.

  • electrifying.....i discovered he wore high heel shoes......how tall is he?

  • wow! COOL!!!!

  • I can see Scott Weiland in Gary Numan!!!

  • i was there

  • Me too !!

  • this guy is a serious badass. awesome effing song.

  • Foo Fighters did a decent job covering this song

  • god still cant believe i went to see numan last week

  • I liked him here when he was younger !

  • you only live once matey :3

  • this is coolness that transcends time.

  • So much cooler when he was more 'alien'.

  • he's so dark and sexy...he is to this day. Mmmm. So ahead of his time. I hate how he replaces all of the old keyboard effects with more modern sounds in all of the other versions of this song. I like these so much better. They kind of sound like ambulances or creepy Space ships.

  • @shellystonespoop i agree on the retrosynth. modern electronica can be nice, but that rough machine sound is awesome.

  • Beware of the ambulance

  • @shellystonespoop Polymoogs are sweet

  • @shellystonespoop part of it is these cool old synths are fragile beasts...and they are also getting hard to find...and repair...or find parts for! Its a shame....i agree...such grand sounds

  • I was in the crowd at wembley at the ripe old age of 19 and I loved every minute, this guy still gives me the tingles, i remember getting a letter from his mum beryl when i joined his fan club and treasured it for years!! 30 years on i still have a crush on him lol x karen x

  • Down In The Park

    Down in the park

    Where the Machmen meet

    The machines are playing `kill-by-numbers'

Down in the park with a friend called `Five'

  • I was in a car crash

    Or was it the war?

Well, I've never been quite the same

Little white lies like "I was there"

  • Come to "Zom-Zom's", a place to eat

Like it was built in one day

    You can watch the humans

    Try to run

  • Oh, look, there's a rape machine

I'd go outside if it looks the other way

    You wouldn't believe

    The things they do

  • Down in the park

Where the chant is "Death, death, death"

    Until the sun cries morning

Down in the park with friends of mine

  • We all know the lyrics you fucking clown.

  • its lordarsehat having his normal moan

  • "We are not lovers

    We are not romantics

We are here to serve you"

A different face but the words never change

  • Dark.

  • great but not dark pure and jagged there dark

  • A song about rape is pretty dark in my opinion.

  • when you put it like that yes your right

  • Gary was so ahead of his time... Look at this vid - it looks like Robert Palmer from the mid-late 80's, and this was 1979.

  • Gary Numan V David Bowie,just a friendly debate.Bowie for me over the years.Angry correspondence not welcome,hahaha

  • don' t see the comparison

  • Bowie WAS good but after Scary Monsters his music sucks.

  • Bowie totally sold out after Scary Monsters."We take the Mystery [to bed]" is a great song off of "I Assassin" which came after Telekon.

  • Great stuff, thanks.Listen up young peeps

  • why cant live music sound like this anymore??

no one can be bothered using proper synths and proper consoles anymore, its all digital shit. no wonder no one buys music anymore.

  • My sister took me to see Numan at the old Harvard Square Theater for my 17th birthday in early 1980. I went in wearing a suede fringed jacket, with long hair, and classic rock sensibilities inherited from my parents record collection. Things changed a lot after seeing this show.

  • this song sounds to me like it's about a dystopian society or world

  • hay what great singer numan rocks

  • i'm taking a chick DOWN 2 THE PARK tonight!

  • @autobahn300 Then I'm calling the police.

  • Good ol' Gary Numan (Webb).

My all time favourite album - The pleasure Principle. been through at least 5 of them!

  • lol true true ;;;; >.>;

  • What's with the triangles.....is he a mason??

    would like an answer... -.-

    thanks.

  • there was a fetish for triangles for allot of people in the 70s and 80s it seems...

  • the triangle is everywhere... Illuminati... ; )

  • !!zomg :P

  • He doesnt travel well

  • probally the bands symbol

  • Foo f......g F......ers we not even born when this was done.

  • Wow....had no idea an older version existed. Up until now, II was only aware of the Foo Fighters version

  • that's pretty bad dude

  • today's artists are infested with remakes of real innovative creators.

  • how good is this pour class went to see him in liverpool and he was great

  • this song transports me to another world. unbelievable. still innovative by todays standards. my cover plays in my truck all the time. when anyone asks me whats wrong with me (as i am slightly crazy lol) i always respond with " well i was in a car crash.... or was it the war..well ive never been quite the same!" Gary rocks !!!!!

  • i recall having a big crush on him now.

  • I recall having a big crush on him when this came out!

  • I remember this stageset from the Pleasure Principle tour when he played at the Royal Oak Theatre way back when. In fact, I think the Jam opened up for him. That might have been a different show but I think it was the Jam I saw open for Numan. Those were the days.

  • nice one

  • Not at all old bean, not at all, He's english

  • They are probably immitating.... modern artists make outstanding parrots for lack of enough original material, it seems.

  • i was very young at the time bought the pleasure principle 1979 got me hooked numans a legend

  • Wow, this is an excellent version, with those, searing, wicked-sounding noises.

  • awesome vid. GARY NUMAN 4EVER!

  • Gary Numan is great !

  • This is amazing. The first gig I ever went to was the Glasgow gig on this tour, in September 1979 - I was only 15. I was totally blown away by Numan (and the support act: OMD).

  • Hammersmith Odean 1983-or 1984, still one of the best shows I have ever seen,

    fucking awesome stage show.

  • Man, this guy was so far ahead of his time--give him major props!

  • I know dude, WAY ahead!

  • If you don't like Gary Numan, then don't watch this video.

  • I think Hee Haw was the most popular tv show then, or maybe donnie and marie! Comparatively this was the shit
