  • wow, how the heck did a show like this escape my childhood, iv alwaysed been fasinated by the myths and folklores around the world especially when it comes to the greek gods and godesses, this is one of the best shows that i have seen in a very long time.

  • she ate seven seeds

  • @forallbueaty

    six

  • This has got to be my fav. version of the story.

  • aw man they totally made Hades a nice guy!

  • I remember this from when I was little! It was my favourite story of the Greek Mythologies. :D YAY!

  • "I also need you, more than I ever thought possible." "I care for her too much to keep her against her will." I am so in love with Hades right now! Persephone has found such a wonderful person to be with! I know they changed this a lot from the original story, but I love the changes! This version rules!

  • poor Persephone has a Stokolm syndrome, but the way they solve the problem staying 6 months with Hades and the others without him, is the perfect recipe to go through with a happy marriage forever and ever, by the way, the only one like this in greek mythology

  • kidnapped! 6 seeds! six months!

  • @MuffyMittens

Nice. But be careful with that, as those stories sometimes branch off from the classics pretty badly.

For example, one of the worst disparities is the fact that Perseus was actually the son of Zeus, whereas "Percy" in that series, is depicted as the son of Poseidon.

  • that's is crap hades KIDNAPPED the little brat

  • HAHAHAHAHAH HERPES. Thats totally an STD yo! XD

OMG this is totally not how the story goes......Hades didnt even ever let Persephone leave. It was Zues was the one that forced Hades to realease her. Apollo is hot though. Id tap that!

  • "HERPES! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"

  • @JollySock

...you do realize that the word's "harpies," do you not?

  • @ImmortalSynn

I'm well aware of that. C:

  • how come the voices remind me of the old X-Men?

  • @YuukiKurosawa1

Well, if you'd bother reading the info box....... (that *is* sorta why it's there).

  • @ImmortalSynn Ah,sorry I didn't notice that part

  • @YuukiKurosawa1

    No worries, all good. :)

  • @ImmortalSynn lol

  • and that kids is the story of winter

  • The god of under world is hot! but its weird that the gods have to have sex with each other but all of them are related *_*

  • So cute!

  • that lizard boy just doesn't learn it was his trickery and disrespect that landed him in the underworld in the first place; now he's in deeper than ever.....

  • woo love conwuers all

  • 2:14 Auntie Em! Auntie Em!!

Hades is awsome and a nice guy.

This cartoon got a bit weird in some places, but it's a great story anyway!

It would totally rock if there was a movie based on this, but only if Hades was done right! I would so watch it!

  • @CaptEoNinja83

You can see more of Hades & Persephony in the episode "Psyche & Eros"

By that time, Hades gets a new/updated outfit, and Persephony is fully grown.

  • This is a more happier and romantic version of the myth than the old one. It's similar to Animated Tales form Around the World

yeah that is technically her uncle...but these kind of relationships were allowed back then

  • Hades is so coooool !!! He controls the WHOLE underworld after all - not like Zeus with a bunch of other gods bossing the mortals around on the middle earth.

  • its not supposed to be 3 months its supposed to be 6, because the story is supposed to tell how Summer and Winter started, because when its winter her mother weeps and doesnt grow anything, and when its summer her mother is happy again and things grow.

  • and u know this is a kids show and if Hades treats Persephone like crap then kids when thye grow up will do the damn same so dont say that this isnt the real myth its for children GROW UP sheesh!!!

  • lol love it how they made greek mytho for 3rd graders LOL

  • Hades is the God of the underworld he could have change the rules to whoever eats them willingly or that gods were expect from the rules

  • My favorite Greek Myth! :D Especially this version since it shows Hades as a Warm and Loving person and not a Cruel and Evil person like in all the other versions!

  • eww, he's her uncle lmao xD

  • @Kassyyy95

    ...so's her father.

  • @Kassyyy95 In the greek myths, that doesn't make a whit of difference. Zeus and Hera are technically brother and sister, and they got married!

  • i liked this video but persephone was ugly

  • what channel is this on?

  • CBS, 12 years ago......

  • "I care for her too much to keep her against her will"

The exact opposite of the mythical Hades' sentiment.

  • Is it me...or is Hades really hot?

  • They slightly redesign his outfit for the 2nd-season... he shows more skin. :)

You can see more of him, in his new attire in both Mythic Warriors episodes "Psyche & Eros" and "Hercules & the Titans: the Last Battle"

  • yeap,hades is ho0ot..

  • its supposed to be 6months because of fall and winter not 3 but its good

  • There are many differing myths on Persephone and Hades and the more prominent myths state that there were 3 seeds eaten and that Persephone had to stay a month for each seed. Of course, other myths state 6 seeds/six months. I am merely pointing this out because there are many other parts of the myth that have been changed, but the pomegranate seeds amount was not one of them.

  • She acctaly ate 6 pomagranit seeds and had to stay for six months

  • Thank you for this upload!! It was really great!! I was just wondering if you also knew if they had Atlanta's myth? And if you plan to upload it? just asking! Thank you!

  • You're welcome.

Her name was actually "Atalanta," and no I will not be uploading her episode. I hate the animation quality in most of the 1st season.

  • I always loved the teaching at the end of every episode of this serie^^

  • I love this myth is my favorite!!!!! I don´t like tha lizard boy for what he did to Persephone, but if he wouldn´t do it there would not be myth =/

    Thanks for this^_^

  • y didnt they give hades an echoing voice like the other gods

  • They did, it's just softer in this episode.

You can hear his echo MUCH more thoroughly pronounced in part 3 of "Mythic Warriors: Psyche & Eros"

  • That's not fair! Why do the Greeks get Hades and us Christians get Satan. D-:

  • Keep in mind a key difference-- in the Greek tradition, EVERYONE goes to Hades.

In the Christian tradition, only the naughty infidels go to Satan. ;)

  • Okay.

  • :P Accrording to Greek Mythology all mortals go to Hades's realm(also called Erebus)....but every mortal was judged after death and they where either rewarded or cursed. The rewarded ones (heroes etc..)would go to the Helysium Fields (Isles of the Blessed), an underworld paradise.. and the cursed ones would suffer to Tartarus...something like hell... so not many differences with cristianity hah? :PP

  • That's "Elysian" Fields. The concept of eternal bliss is "Elysium"

Also, Hades' realm is called... well, Hades.

Erebus is the conceptual void of the underworld, represented by a darkness that even light cannot dissipate. But not the underworld itself.

  • it is with "H" actually, and yes, you are right, i made a vocabulary mistake, it is in deed Helysian Fields, that's what i wanted to write in the first place.

as for Erebus my wikipedia info says i'm correct but i guess i might need to check out a greek mythology book to be sure...

  • You have no idea what you're talking about, so why pretend like you do? Doesn't make sense.

The word's "Elysian," again derived from the concept of elysium.

If you, for whatever inane reason, choose to continue arguing the point... why not just consult any significant dictionary (Oxford, American Heritage, Compton's, etc) to see for yourself?

  • since when exchanging opinions in a total polite way is an arguement for some reasons? I had no intense to argue with you but on the contrary just say what i know or at least what i think so..i was not ironic, i didn't insalt anyone, so where is the problem? i'm not trying to be smart here, you corrected me on my vocabulary. you were right, and i corrected you back on the letter ''H'',so why such a big deal? for example it is "Hellas" and not "Ellas"...anyway...

  • ...*sigh*

While you're using those aforementioned dictionaries to figure out the spelling of "Elysian," "insult," "intention," and anything else you just butchered here; you might want to add searching for the definition of "argue" to that task as well, considering that you apparently don't know ~it~ either.

  • apparently, u like to "insult" people and judge them for dictionary mistakes.I, on the other hand, don't think that someone who doesn't speak or write my language perfectly is less respectfull. ~it~ is my principle and principles can't be "butchered". so here's a quote by the greek philosopher Socrates that has no dictionary mistakes : " `Εν οίδα, ότι ουδέν οίδα"..

    Regards._

  • Indeed, you certainly don't appear to know much of anything, I'll give you that.

Now if you'll kindly cease wasting my time with this manner of nonsense, I'll leave you with one even more tested by the whims of time:

Μάθετε να αναγνωρίζετε τα λάθη σας, εσείς ανίδεος ανόητος.

  • I don't care if this is meant for kids, they made Hades seem like a pussy. I'm fine with them taking out the rape (which might not even have been true) and maybe the abduction. But I also don't think Persephone should have been as willing to go as she was, regardless if she knew she'd be stuck in the underworld or not.

  • this is beautiful just beautiful.

  • Are you kidding me? When did Hades become so good?

They screwed it all up! Yuck! I stick to the real version

  • Probably because they felt that topics such as rape/abduction were a little much for a children's series...

But they did change his personality quite a bit by the second season. Witness the episode "Psyche and Eros"

  • I loved the episode. Thank you so much for sharing.

The moment when Persephone is being tempted by the snake-legged boy is kinda reminiscent of the Eve and the serpent event.

  • Hades is actually pretty decent in the actual myths about him. He was portrayed as altruistic and did not act petty or cruelly to others.

  • Yes his appearance is dark and gothic but after all, he is sounded by death all the time. But yeah he was fairly merciful. But you wouldn't wanna cross him. It's Zeus who is not as holy as he seems.LOL

  • The Wrath of Hades was said to be far worse than even that of Zeus or Posideon.

  • i dun know i kinda like good hades though , Kinda bring out the creativity

  • That's was sweet story of them. This is going to be my favorite.

  • Why did they say three months? Don't all the myths say she ate six seeds?

  • Yes, you're correct.

  • Oh well. I always loved their story, and how Persephone grew to love Hades. Thanks for uploading it. :)

  • Welcome :)

  • It vary from myth to myth

  • Definitely got the months wrong, it was 6. But nonetheless it was a cute cartoon =)

  • *sigh* i wish they made a Hades and Persephone movie/manga/anime/cartoon

i would be happy with any..this cartoon is too childish for me I think and Hades didn't even catch Persephone when the Furies threw her onto the ground XP

    nice one Hades

  • that was beautiful... sob sob..

  • three months? wasnt six months?

  • ...you're correct.

  • @BenDemise yes it was 6 months

  • yeahhh i remember this story...it wasnt like this at all hades tricked her and made her stay. they should do like a kickass vamped up version of the show for now. that would be cool.

  • ...again, seeing as abduction and rape aren't exactly children's-show material, OF COURSE it's different.

And yes, I'd love to see an mature-oriented version, utilizing the same carriers.

  • I always loved the greek mythology. Really great video.

  • At least Hades is depicted as inherently good and kind. Most versions of him have him mean and cruel, and even downright evil.

  • @StokersMate No idea why. Hades is my favorite of the Greek Gods.

  • WOW How great!!!!!!AWESOME EPI^^

  • I love Persephone,but I don´t like when she´s sad.

  • This episode it´s great.

  • Interesting that we get to see that the ichor inside a god's body is (here depicted to be) purple instead of red.
