Sorry to disagree with you, but i think youve stated a dizzying array of unsupported (without evidence) statements, that gives me the impression of the most extreme sense of your underlying argument. Nevertheless, i disagree with your premise.
I think our short span gives us reason for hope. If humans had been around for billions of years and had slavery as a first world principle up until the tail end of that, I'd honestly consider welcoming nuclear annihilation given that we wouldn't have learned a damn thing. Though to be fair the last few millenia was full of revolutions... flat to spheroid, geocentric to heliocentric, illiterate to literate and now international communication... Hmm.
