i have several taurus pistols and i love them.taurus guns are affordable.you can buy them used at a great price.sometimes you can get two of them for the price of one smith and wesson.
@AnaMC75 if you could connect, yeah, it would most definitely kill birds. However it's not the right tool for hunting small game and birds. Think shotguns. Have a good one!
@kimberSCP My example holds a zero and stays put. Battery life is good. The problem is wet weather. My sight just can't hold the water out. The unit fogs up from the inside if exposed to a rainy hunt, visually obscuring the dot. I was disappointed. Hope this helps!
@grimdadye Taurus has a ton of good options, especially in the revolver department. So far, I've not been let down by any Taurus product. Good Stuff- thanks for the comment, Have a good one!
If you dont like the laser engraving on the side, look into a m44 from taurus. I picked one up its nice and clean. also i cannot find a single mill mark on my gun. the grips on it are also not as tacky feeling like those on the raging bull. i have put around 400 rounds through it since i bought it in july, been a great gun.
@fluffykittynoodles The revolver is holding up just fine, however it should be noted this is not a high volume handgun. I've owned this revolver for about 3 years (?) and I'm sure I have a maximum of 150 rounds through it, probably less. It's used exclusively for hunting rather than pleasure shooting. The lockup, timing, and centering are still very good, as they were from new. Don't be afraid of Taurus. Having owned 3 separate Taurus guns, my experience has been very positive. Take care!
Ive heard a lot of bad things about the RB but i really like the way it looks compared to other revolvers .Plus I dont want to spend a 1,000 bucks on a gun. How reliable is it? Is it good and solid? Can it hold up to a lot of shooting? Will it last a long time? This will be my first revolver.
@countryboyreese It's as reliable as any revolver, and it's held up for me just fine. The revolver is less refined and has machine markings here and there. It's not as nice cosmetically as it's more expensive competition, but it shoots like a champ. Go for it.
Thanks for the well-worded and informative review. I was thinking of either the Bull or a Smith 29, but being that this would be my first "magnum" revolver, I think I'll go with the Bull to get me started. It's affordable and seems pretty well built... plus, I hear the porting does well to decrease recoil.
@skyonswildflower I can't recall where I picked it up, but it was on-line. I do remember it giving me grief when I tried to mount it. I was required to do light dremel tool (?) work and cut plastic shims to fit it to the revolver. You may want to consider having a local gun smith do a drill/tap job for a conventional mount to save a possible headache. looking back, that's what I'd have done. Have a good one!
Thanks for the video. It was informative and generally well-written. My only question was about the cylinder mechanism. I'm not sure if I understood you correctly, but I've inferred that the mechanism for opening the cylinder is clumsy. Is this the case? WHy can't you just press down on that lever on the left side of the gun and watch it roll out?
@wilkbor Taurus employs a "double locking mechanism" on the Raging Bull series that requires the user to actuate a release control to the rear of the cylinder(typical traditional control) as well as one in the front of the cylinder. Both have to be pushed at the same time in order to release the cylinder. I found it to be a clumsy control system and I also doubt it's usefulness. There is more info on the Taurus website. Thanks, have a good one!
Got the same gun. Decent gun for the money. A little front heavy. I also had to do a grip reduction on the grip to make it fit me better. If I could do over ago I would probably have gotten a Ruger Alaskan 44 Mag, even if cost a couple hundred more.
@scape05 It seems in recent years Taurus splashes their logos all over everything. I remember owning a great little .44 special 5 shot, the "441" in a stainless snubbie with wooden grips. Great small frame revolver, classy and understated. I miss it, traded it for something along the way. I carried it in a Bianchi (?) belt holster and it disappeared under a light shirt Yeah well. I've heard good things about the Taurus 1911 offerings- My experience with Taurus has been great. Have a good one!
Great review. I do have the same model as yours (RB, 44, 6.5 in, SS). I was curious about the Taurus rail. Did you like it? Is it to cumbersome, it looks like edges stick out? Holster issues? The rail's Fit and finish, etc.
@MrGabrielJude Glad you asked! The rail is poor. I think it's MIM construction. Mine was slightly warped upon arrival. The fit to the revolver was also poor. I had to do file work as well as cut plastic shims to prevent movement / scuffing after it was tightened. It's also ugly, but optics fit perfectly and have several good adjustment options. Now that it's on, it's on tight and serves it's purpose. Looking back, for the cost, I'd consider a professional drill/tap option. Hope this helps!
@kembrabug Thanks for your kind words! Nutn certainly isn't "condensed", but for some reason his videos are strangely compelling. He's the only guy I can watch chop a tree down for an hour straight. Anyway, don't be afraid of Taurus offerings. A lot of stuff on the Raging Bull is MIM'ed or less refined then American revolvers, but the cost reflects the finish. She got it where it counts though, with a solid build and a true aim. I like mine. Have a good one!
@sackett68 Thanks for your kind words- gun reviews take forever for me to put together. The Raging Bull is money well spent, as long as you aren't expecting a S&W finish. I think Taurus has their act together, a good split between cost and quality. I've owned three that I can remember offhand, and they all were good shooters. Have a good one!
the problems are cosmetic? that gun looks really sweet, if u don't like the look go buy the traditional python.

@AnaMC75 Look. Pheasent Killing, but not Pheasent hunting. The damn bird would explode, there would just be a red stain and a little pair of legs.
