Even if she did anything to help build up the Alaska NG (if they are an "elite" unit that would seem to be to the credit of a PAST governor), can you call her a "commander in chief" of the NG? Isn't that title reserved solely for the US President? If the NG is federalized, the President takes it over, so the state governor is NOT the last word on their command.

No she did not send them there. They were there when she took office and it's not like we are all in one place each day or week. We separate and go all over. Some of us get attached to other units for a few days or weeks at a time. You really should look into this better before you make these kinds of statements. The General she asked that of, had to in turn ask someone else as well, I'm sure. They were probably in several places other than just where they originally deployed to. Nice try. Not.

Campbell Brown asked about Sarah Palin's foreign policy experience. Tucker Bounds response was that she had foreign policy experience deploying National Gaurd OVERSEAS. Sarah Palin had nothing to do with deploying National Gaurd overseas.

Deploying the National Guard domestically has nothing to do with foreign policy.

Tucker Bounds is a campaign spokesperson and not a military expert obviously, but he is technically correct. Governors give permission for their National Guards to be activated by the federal government. She is responsible for preparing troops to deploy and maintaining readiness. She also has to make sure that the families of those serving overseas are looked after in the soldier's absense. It's easy to understand how civilians will be confused by the contradictory media reports.

I mightake this chance to point out that even if you don't think she had any responsibility over the Guard, ask youself why she went to the theater of war over a year ago (for no real reeason as you would have us believe) and Obama just now went for the first time in his 3 years on the job and into his job as the head of the Senate committee for oversight on Afghanistan. He should have been ther long before and that was definately his job. If we believe you, Palin just went.

Her National Guard experience is strictly domestic. When she went to visit her troops she had to ask where they were, because she did not know.
