I swtiched the sub to this channel since you didn't. Really there's quite a bit of substance here; I think it's like "be true to yourself;" honestly, that could be my mantra which has caused me more than a little grief from time to time. With all we have to sift through in today's world, everyone needs to get in touch with who they really are...
Interesting, but ultimately no cigar. I mean really, good idea, but not a pure one. I guess nothing is pure. To stop consuming our culture would require us to stop using our languages, to stop being friendly to strangers or to stop treating others however we've realized is the way others should be treated, and so forth. If my thoughts are half baked, I expect you will tell me. Peace.
@BarreraMusic It's all good........I don't smoke cigars. The video is intended as an homage to the lesser known entheogen experimenter Terence McKenna, not as dogma. It is best taken within the context of his full body of work. His point is that originality is becoming rare and as we imitate the media images we see we all become good little workers for the imperialistic corporatocracy that controls the media.
BTW, if you are half baked maybe you should get completely baked.
Oh great, Anti-propaganda propaganda Love the panning though. What's missing in the "don't watch TV" "don't do" that diatribe is..."don't take drugs, don't fry your brain"
@Rogeetar Yes, but then you have to add "Don't drink the water (fluoride), don't eat processed food, don't drink apartame, don't drink alcohol, don't eat altered fats, etc, etc. He is talking about culture. I don't know if he ever did, but I never heard Terence speak about eating organic or drinking pure water. His death could have been the result of too much drug use, bad living habits, or both. Too much of anything is bad. Know thyself. That is the secret of balance.
@slippereal Thank you! I hope you mean that in the traditional sense, not the modern definition which no longer has much to do with real "awe" which is rare in our jaded culture. Either way, I'll take it!
So true. I will not be a walking lemming in the path of my own life. I will create, i will be outspoken, i will be an individual. Thanks for this video. =)3
@AsylumAvenue I Grok OK, - I haven't heard that expression since the Sixties! I did a series of 'Grok' cartoons in 1968 - 'Grok 'n' Roll', 'Grok garden', 'Grok-a-bye-baby' etc. Glad you are still Grokin'
@rimind1 Thank you for the high compliments, though I really feel behind the times. I hope to capture some higher quality didgeridoo playing soon, as this was recorded on a $20 mp3 player at a public market so the quality wasn't much to start with. I am blessed to live in an area brimming with musicians and artists of every stripe, I can find buskers playing a few blocks from my house on any given day and the relative number of didg players is quite high so I think I will buy a better recorder.
@YESMMJ Thanks! We are basically born tripping, then gradually our reality is largely formed by our cultural perceptions. Green is a color because we say it is. When green becomes a sound or a wave then things start to get interesting. Most people don't need psychedelics and that is good because tripping people don't make good drivers or technicians, but the arts need those willing to step out of accepted reality and remind us that there is more to existence than our daily perceptual reality.
@AsylumAvenue ,,,Sorry for late reply ,My PC crashed had to save $ to get it fixed(fingers X'd) I agree 100% about people tripping and going out expecting to do the things they do in everyday life"Not a good thing at all to try"!!!! I think i see what you mean ,We have the abbility within us to reach the level above the normal thinking proccess.
@londonpenda It was a labor of love and and homage to a modern psychonaut and cultural pioneer. Without people like Terence and Timothy we might all be walking lockstep to the factory already.
@AsylumAvenue Absolutely!... "Let us declare nature to be legitimate. All plants should be declared legal, all animals for that matter. The notion of illegal plants and animals is obnoxious and ridiculous." -Terence McKenna
@theclockstickin Obsolete software for animation, photoshop, and movie maker. Just bare bones. The didg and singing were recorded at a farmers market on a tiny inexpensive Sandisk personal mp3 player/recorder. It's not low budget, it's no budget.
