"have you thought of anymore of those BRILLIANT IDEAS of yours?" "Alexander suddenly feels a strange pulling sensation on his already low self-esteem"
Yeah it was. I was doing a double-entendre (IE If you've seen Beavis and Butthead, someone says some random comment and Butthead responds with "...Huh Huh. You said...". I was kind of going along with that. lol
Yes to both questions! The game allows you to toggle captions on/off, this play-through doesn't have them toggled on. Also, I missed lots of items such as coins from the catacombs when I first played this game (I died lots of times there). I don't mind the icons switched from the norm in the icon bar, but I usually needed to look at items in my pockets to know their names!
The game is kinda crappy cause if u miss stuff, like in the Catacombs, you're pretty much ****ed. I had to restart the game, but I used a walkthrough and beat the thing.
The Kings Quest games were among the first visual computer games of their kind to be made because Kings Quest I was developed as a means of showing off the 'new' color abilities that computers were developing, so the whole premise of them was developed long before games 'mollycoddled' you and always ensured you never got completely stuck and pretty much held your hand through the whole thing. Yeah, it's annoying as crap, I agree, but there's still something to be said for the classics. ^ ^
@RheaHiryuu generally ive found that while some games areTOO easy, alot of them are just a reasonable challenge. one that is hard as hell, but not impossible. older games like castlevania, kings quest, etc were just so hard that it was basically no fun. id spend hours and hours on one small part, and eventually just have no reason to keep playing. remember this game was aimed at younger, not teen, audiences. alot of challenges were jus ridiculous things nobody would think of.
Hey the Arch Druid looks totally different! he used to look like someone wearing a animal yde covering on top of his head! and looked a lot mean....this one looks like he has makeup....hmmm what happened?
I loved this game! I played this on an old 386 computer that had to have a sound blaster installed. What was weird is that before the sound card was installed, the conversation close ups were lower res like the ones in the video. However, after putting in the sound card, the conversation graphics were vastly improved.
The Enhanced Windows version had improved artwork for the icon bar, inventory items, and close-ups. But you had to turn on speech to see the close-ups.
I've gotten a couple requests for a playthrough of that version. Hopefully I'll have time when I finish my other projects.
When I was a kid I solved King's Quest versions 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
6 and 7 were a bit too lengthy for me so I gave up and got a job.

It's funny how at every single part of this game someone is commenting on 'the strange pulling sensation', guess innuendo is universal XD

This game had some pretty funny dialogue at times. Then again, I'd react the same way to being given a rotten egg for a lump of coal. :o
