You can easily see that it's sand. No idea why some people think it's supposed to look like snow :P

And very good job. All the AE stuff ain't to difficult. You can learn that stuff in a couple of days. But perfection might take a liiiiittle longer ;)

The original explosion footage is too small for this footage. You could slow it right down to make it look better. A pro tip is that the further away it is, the slower it should be. Very good rotoscoping tho, considering the source isn't very keyable

I love this. The ufo looks great! The only thing I didn't dig was the way it looked when it crashed. I believe it would have looked so much better without the orange/red/yellow flames. But, none the less, great work!

im lost please help...when you took the background and masked it out-but than you added his upper body back into the shot...now how did u get it so he didnt move out of the masked part? please i really need to know its bugging me?

@jonli702 Hey there. I rotoscoped each frame of the upper body. I used Mocha to track his upper body, and then attached the masks to the tracking data, which helped me with the rotoscoping, but never made a perfect mask. It's a very time-consuming process, and you'll have to sit and go through each frame to get perfection. Hope that helps :)

Well it was really just a test, so I didn't put too much thought into wardrobe,,, and its meant to be sand, not snow. But it could work really well for snow.

Snow? Where did you see snow? Sand and snow look and act very different and there definately isn't any snow there or anything that looks like snow. I guess if you smoked enough and squinted you could try to claim the mountains were frozen solid ice and not sand dunes but where he is walking is clearly sand lol
