I've got to be honest. For the past years, I've never truly listened to the lyrics of any song that I can think of. I always focused on the instrumentation and the "flow" of the music. With this song, "Aenima", this wonderful track, I cannot go back to that ignorant state. His lyrics are phenomenal, purely ingenious. Maynard speaks his mind and receives my respect and love. @sinzorak I've always thought the song was literally about Armageddon, and I suppose in a way it is but not of the traditional, utter destruction kind. The whole meaning of the song changes when he sings "Don't call me pessimist, try to read between the lines". I think he isn't so much calling for Armageddon as he is calling for people to stop pretending, deal with their own problems. The line "Learn to swim" referring to 'Learn to support yourself'
