I would have liked to have seen more of Kristy as Buffy, I watched the movie before I even saw the series and I liked watching how the character transformed from being narrow minded to someone that wakes up to the reality that there are vampires and she embraces being the slayer. Despite the flaws of the movie I felt Kristy did a great job. SMG had 7 seasons to develop Buffy so of course she's gonna be the best Buffy. Im sure if Kristy was given that much time she would have been great too

I've liked all the past Buffys. They all had their different take on the role, even though it potentially has more to do with the dialouge given. Kristy Swanson was more the slightly dim, rather shallow californian stereotype, Sarah Michelle Gellar was a bit more sparky and sweet with a harsh edge, while Giselle Loren was a bit more sardonic and dry. In that sense, they all stand out for me as Buffys.

He later released a comic book version of the script with the likeness of Sarah Michelle Gellar. It was far superior to the movie, but still not as great as what the show came to be.

Joss wrote the original script, yes, but by the time the project was completed little of what Joss wrote was still in tact in order to make it "lighter." He actually had to leave the studio he was so upset. So, Joss had very little to do with this project and claims that it should have nothing to do with the canon of the series....Sorry, I'm totally obsessed with the series.

This was the original movie, which "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", the TV show was based on (the one with Sarah Michelle Gellar). Of course, the TV show was so much better - you should see the original movie, it is entertaining; the Buffy character seems really weak in the movie though, compared to sarah as Buffy.

....after the events of the movie. In order for your juxtaposition to make sense, all of her friends would either have had to folllow her there or simply turn up in Sunnydale as different characters, a la THE WIZARD OF OZ.

In any case, the movie wasn't all bad. Just enjoy it for itself and don't try to compare it to the TV series. That said, I'd be interested to see if this upcoming movie tries to reconcile the two continuities in any way.

Anyone who's even passingly familiar with the TV series could point out three basic flaws with your (admittedly entertaining) presentation.

1. For the TV series, the actors would have been much too old (Luke Perry was in his thirties by that point, for example) and the characters played by Paul Reubens and Donald Sutherland were both dead.

2. The colors of the movie's palette look way too circus-like compared to those of the TV series.

3. Buffy moved to Sunnydale.... (MORE)
