I have no interest in the hard sciences myself. They used to be my favourite subjects, then in High school I had some amazing history teachers. So I decided I would be a history teacher. I don't think that the only way men could really be successful is through some hard science career. Considering that even one man saying they want a men's group in college causes a huge wave, I think a man in a position of influence that are in regular contact with young men will make a big difference.

Women were not properly educated in those days (apart from a lucky few) and so only a marginal number managed to become so successful. I have no interest in the hard sciences myself. They used to be my favourite subjects, then in High school I had some amazing history teachers. So I decided I would be a history teacher. I don't think that the only way men could really be successful is through some hard science career. Considering that even one man saying they want a men's group in college causes a huge wave, I think a man in a position of influence that are in regular contact with young men will make a big difference.

@BabeonToast HA! For centuries women have been the biggest failures. Even though women were in the vast majority and had much more time on their hands, men were relied on heavily and had to do most of the heavy work and inventing. Women were thought to be so worthless that a lot of them got killed at birth BY THE MOTHER!
With the industrial revolution work became much easier and thats when you got the "I-dont-need-a-man" additude. Shows your true colors doesnt it?

Temple Grandin came up with inventions for the cattle industry, Amy Johnson was the first female pilot to fly from the UK to Australia ALONE, Hedy Lamarr invented a secret communication system that helped defeat the nazis in WW2, Marie Curie was a pioneer in the research of radioactivity, and I take it your black by your name, therefore u should be thankful to Rosa Parks for leading

@KrazyChick17 Ok Im going to make a few things clear:
-When I said that women were failures I was replying to a clearly manhating post that said the same things about men. So I gave her a taste of her own medicine and it worked. That post doesnt reflect my actual thoughts.
-The number of significant female inventors/revolutionists is marginal compared to their male counter. Giving a few neat examples (of wich 1 had a male co-inventor and 1 irrelevant) wont help you (cont)

@blackman6270 the reason that there have been more male inventors/revolutionists is because of the status of women in those times. Women were not properly educated in those days (apart from a lucky few) and so only a marginal number managed to become so successful. Women were kept down and oppressed, due to a patriarchal society not allowing them to progress and make it to the top like men could. Its thanks to feminism that women are now able to be equally successful as men, altho I agree

@blackman6270 that extreme, radical feminism is very bad, and gives the feminist movement a bad name. I am not a feminist myself, but I am grateful for what feminism has done for the benefit of my gender in that I have an equal opportunity with men to become educated and successful, and able to vote. I do agree that there are double standards in society against men which needs to be addressed but the MRA movement just seems as radical and hateful to me as radical feminism.

@KrazyChick17 Women never were really opressed when it came to education. Very few people in general were able to get a proper education since you had to be rich. Granted, it was much easier for a man to get rich than a woman, but my point is that there never was a direct opression of women educationwise. It was more of an indirect result of the religious dogma that women belonged in the comfort of their homes (so you can blame religion not the so-called patriarchy) (cont)

@KrazyChick17 (cont) Also, even with the 65% of the college students being female nowadays, women are avoiding the scientific and technical studies, saying that its either too hard or too demanding. These are the subjects you MUST learn to become a inventor but it seems that women are avoiding it themselves. This ofcourse to the detriment of the studies, with the example of matchstudies seeing a decrease of 25% in the last 10 years. So women still arent stepping up their game.

@KrazyChick17 face it, women were never oppressed. they were protected from the dangers of the world. they were sheltered from war, and kept from having to work in the coal mines. Feminists have never fought the Selective Service System. Feminists have never fought the Rape Shield Law, which limits a defendants ability to defend themselves, even with all the False Rape accusation caused by women that go unpunished, except for maybe a slap on the wrist. Feminists have yet to fight for these men!

@KrazyChick17 (cont) -I hate the Rosa Parks example. She wasnt the first nor the last to revolt in such a manner. Thinking that she alone inspired MLK to take it further is egocentric. MLK's true inspiration came from Marcus Garvey who is seen as the first black revolutionist, not from 1 woman who didnt want to give up her seat and magically became a symbol even though others did similar things before her. The black revolution would be fine without her.
