I was raised in Japan for five years since I was born, and trying to regain my fluency. I find these video lessons ANNOYING, especially her American accent using the Japanese language. She talks as if Japanese people are this OMG UBER ALIEN RACE or some shit. It's annoying as fuck.

ok i get kore wa but what does the"no" mean? kore wa yansan no nimotsu desu. kore wa means this is, nimotsu means luggage right?

no is a particle used to signify ownership. That question basically is her asking if that was his luggage, or has the general idea of it.

well, 'no' refers 2 his/her/its/their..... To say its actual meaning its hard but.... Ok eg. korewa anata"no" desu. In English its This is your"s".

"No" is used in different ways, but when used like this, it is just like a possessive 's in English. "Yansan no nimotsu," means, "Yan's luggage." "Yansan no desu," means, "It is Yan's." Of course, in English we don't say things like "me's", so "Watashi no nimotsu," would be, "My luggage." And, "Watashi no desu," would be, "It is mine."
