  • there is nothing wrong with american students, they are same as smart as chinese or indian student. things that really goes wrong is the american government, they are cutting the budget on education in order to launch more missiles in middle east.........

  • @htcylld very true - all young kids are same, the difference is we in India tell our kids education will give you every thing, but where us an American kid has already got every thing so will never have that urge or willingness to work hard...may be this will change if American economy shrinks and people find it difficult to get job...

  • India and china maybe smarter than us but we can choose what we want to do AMERICA!!!!

  • There are many factors, but stupid books filled with 100 routine problems instead

of 10 deeply explored problems don't help.

  • @purplesierrafluff

You can't even spell "simply" properly, perhaps you could have benefited from parents that care about your literacy.

America is a big, big place. There are stupid people there and there are many intelligent ones, just like most countries.

  • just face it guys America isnt number 1 anymore, the country will slowly fall economically and in global significance while the major countries in Asia impact on the world increase and will soon beast out the west.

  • @Benatako @Benatako It sounds like you either haven't spent a lot of time in Asia or don't necessarily have a good understanding of the place. In short, it isn't all as simple as you put it.

  • The Chinese guy is a moron, and keeps interupting the rich guy with random, unrelated points. Pity the guy who made the film is put down so much...

  • @87jscam What do you mean by rich guy. Chinese are no longer poor.

  • Very True. In the video, the white guy is VERY RICH and is only on stage because of his expertise in building companies and using people to make money. He is interested in educating America and helping the future. The Chinese guy is only on stage because he is well known and opposes the white/rich guy. You are quite correct that there are many millionaires and billionaires in China. It is funny that they are the number one polluter in the world, have18 out of the top 20 most polluted cities.

  • History is not black and white, your ugly Republican assholes stole the North and south American Continent and squadering the leftover for whom? Those you call rich won't last two generations, is he as rich as Warren Buffet, I am related to Chairman Mao, I see a lot evil Chinese, but you are just bad as them.

  • Ahh, claiming relations to a mass murderer! Nice! Don't worry. China will do much damage to the world this century and with the OBAMA spending plan, we will not be able to save you this time. This video showed a guy trying to help. His efforts are wasted on you. Those I call rich, work hard. Go back to your iTunes and pirating (stealing) software. Some Republicans tried to help. You are squandering your time on the internet. Go find a job and don't let Chinese pollution annoy you.

  • You are not worth my time, fuck off.

  • @87jscam

America was once the biggest polluter in the world, too. But few countries back then were industrialized or thought of pollution as a problem. To lessen the pollution now China will have to slow down on the growth rate. No one told America to cut back on the production when America was making profit on producing weapons when everybody else was killing each other, woohoo~

  • @87jscam

Guess what I found funny: Your country owe my country 2 trillion USD, i.e. around $6666 per American. P.s. in case you didn't know, and I'm sure you don't: 6 is the Chinese luck number ;)

  • @rena736222 You are correct on the history and the debt. I hope my country acts soon to get the money and debt in order. I don't know how long you will help us if we do not act more responsibly. Unfortunately, we do not have high standards in school, and our colleges care more about who can pay than if they can finish the degree (which is what they talk about in the video). I wish you luck with our debt. I hope we have luck in paying you back!

  • @rena736222 i thought 8 was a lucky number...

  • @swiftyuki 8 is. I think a culture has more than one lucky number is acceptable?

  • There are a lot Chinese morons, you are one of them, you rightwing douchbag.

  • well im a student and a 9th grader at that and i think that the stuff we learn right now is easy but then their are some kids who struggle i mostly think its the parents fault because they arent pushing their kids to do their best they just want them to have a good life and enjoy their childhood the parents dont know how the kids behave when their not around them ....THEY HAVE NO CLUE =]

  • im from Island school Hong Kong... dats really it

  • W Edwards Deming once with regard to which is the worlds most underdeveloped nation:

'with the storehouse of skills and knowledge contained in its millions of unemployed, and with the appalling underuse, misuse, and abuse of skills and knowledge in the army of employed people in all ranks and in all industries, the United States may be the most underdeveloped nation in the world.

  • What I am telling you is not some philosophy, but some concepts I picked up in my economics classes, which I have applied to current trends.

  • We have removed the classic literature as the Count of Monte Christo, where the main characters liberty and personal property rights are being violated, by some of his friends, by plotting an intrigue against him, which causes him to end in prison, so that his friends can get his girlfriend and property.

We do not give them anymore to read "the Old man and the sea" , where the main protagonist's hard effort to catch the fish are being taken away, when the smaller fish eat the protagonists catch.

  • hallo,

I think that the issue is that our western culture has totally removed every incentive for effort and hard work. Based on my experience and from what I have hearth from others. We tell our kids that only the global government and environment matters. But we do not tell them that they as individuals and their liberty matter the most.

If our so called education system is doing such things, it is no wonder for me that the kids do not care so much about their education.

  • I agree with purple and perfect, the parents and students all have a significant role in this issue. However, I would like to add that the root of problem is not a superficial one but rather stems from cutural differences. China and India both have a very long history of emphasis on education. You can't just change that overnight here in North America with a government policy. It takes time, a very long time.

  • Improve American education, especially in the areas of the Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, and elementary and advanced math? Start by banning the NEA and its states counterparts!

  • While Indians and Chinese students study, American kids are gaining weight, dulling their minds thru TV and taking anti-depressants. Obesity, drug addictions, ADHD, ADD, bi-polarism...wonderful products of the American dream.

  • Parents can only be blamed for so much! The average american student simpley doesn't care very much about their education! Also, I hate to break it to you but the average American Education sucks.

  • @purplesierrafluff

The parents and the students themselves are the primary problem. The educational system does not suck as much as you think. If you brought over foreign students into our system, they would be very successful, and our teachers would look absolutely awesome. It is true that there are idiot teachers out there, but there are alot that work hard. It all begins at home: if the parenting fails, the student will not care, and their education will fail also.

  • @purplesierrafluff the USA has always been anti-intellectual. Our utilitarian society has always scoffed at abstract thinkers as impractical- much to our own detriment.

  • @purplesierrafluff No, the American Education spends the MOST money compared to China and India. Their education doesn't suck, it's the students that MAKE it suck by not dedicating themselves into it.

  • @purplesierrafluff you are 'simpley' truth of that.

  • IT's the PARENTS ....

schools and government can only do so much. If it's not happening at home, it's certainly not going to happen at school, this includes how kids treat others....

Teachers take the brunt of the blame....but we get to see how your child behaves when they're with their friends or when they are in the hallways.

If there were a little camera mounted on the wall that captured YOUR kid's behavior....you probably would be shocked and not recogize your own child...
