Great idea... In my video I suggested that a new law mandate that by 2012 we will no longer have petroleum as our energy standard for new vehicles... We need radical laws, and then we will see the old designs for alternative fuel be pulled off of the dusty shelves...
My main focus would be on eliminating foreign oil needs. By doing so, we would have changed the "thinking" when it comes to energy use for transportation and personal/home/business use. The new independent energy philosophy will begin to reduce 100% of petrol use... Utopian, I know, especially with the influence (as you stated) of big power... catch 22.
The switch from foreign oil arose because it's cheaper to import it. I wonder if the same would occur for ethanol usage, biodiesel or any synthetic fuels. So I completely understand where you're coming from.
It's difficult but not impossible. We have to work harder in removing the blindfolds from a lot of voters that still believe change comes from swapping one Party with another.
I think it was Rudolph VonDiesel.Either way he was German. Pretty cool that eevry diesel engine will run on BIODIESEL without any conversions or changes.
It's what it was meant for. The engine was also designed to reduce carbon dioxide for better mileage, but we can convert it to recycle that reduced amount of CO2 back into the fuel supply.
The American economic picture is starting to resemble a modern feudal lord system. The lords and kings (executives) rack in record profits, which makes the GDP and like figures look good. While the surfs (American workers) slave way for little personal gain. With little hope of climbing the economic ladder.
In truth! Diesel engines can be "carbon neutral". Which means they exploit resent plant photosynthesis as a source of fuel (i.e... biodiesel fuel) rather than fossil fuels. Which by the way are made of carbon that was taken from the atmosphere by plants thousands of years ago and locked in the earth.
Many have said the carbon problem many be helped by these engines but what about the smog and ash they produce? Answer: biodiesel does not suffer from such problems. The small amount of toxins the fuel does release can easily be captured or removed from the exhaust by simple technologies, similar to the catalytic converters most of us have in the cars we drive right now.
# 1: At full production, the U.S. farmers can only produce at best 45% of the amount of biodiesel needed to break our oil addiction. solution: focus on increasing the mpg of the average U.S. car by trashing the idea of a mechanical transmission and replace it with (bio)diesel/electric drive,
railroad locomotives are the most efficient means of transport around and they've used this technology for over 50 years. # 2: this is the real problem. The U.S.A. is a capitalist nation, which as a side-effect means that those with the money have the power. Oil makes a few people a lot of money
Yes, that the focus of this question really, because we know that the Oil Corporations have held back automotive technologies keeping us dependent on them. Our vehicles are like the Flintstones' car in comparison to other countries. We're way behind and it's because of poor business & political ethics.
Biodiesel would shift that profit from oil companies to farmers who grow the fuel. Property values would skyrocket; the sub-urban development would at once stop because no one in their right mind would give up fertile soil. The whole nation would have to change! THESE ARE THE PROBLEMS WE MUST SOLVE.
misterweed, the fact of the engine running off of PEANUT oil, it produces CLEAN exhaust. And even some have found it to be efficient to run diesels off of the oil from fast food restaurants. which ALSO produces CLEAN breathable exhaust.(and when i say breathable..i mean you can stick your nose RIGHT under the tailpipe lol) So NO it doesn't produce harmful exhaust.
Sure. Most people don't realize that electric vehicles predate both diesel & petrol. But, personally I've never liked the electric car, except for those videos of it drag racing ^_^
It's the recharge time that's always hurt it.
I know they've made advances to those nickel batteries, but when it comes to the scale of powering a car; the recharge time takes anywhere from 6-8 hours.
YES! THANK YOU! we have ALWAYS had it yet noone grasps the idea! man joe i hope he DEF pays attention and gives thought to your question. AWESOME question joe, AWESOME.
Thank you! Thank you! thaaaan yoooouuuu......
Crappy (U.S. gov} could'nt seem to find a way to screw the American people out of money or better, line there pockets with our gold.
thats way we were orderd by one of our "shit head presidents" to give up our gold or else.
Can't remember which shithead at the moment it was.
then gun abolishing was to be next on there agenda

Thanks, and sure - a five year plan like that is feasible.
The problem is that the Oil Corporations dominate this country by wealth and political influences.
They're not willing to let go.
Even their acknowledgments to ethanol will still contain limits so a percentage of petrol always remains in the mix.

You can't get elected without oil company and pharmaceutical money so I don't expect anything to change. Enron got Bush elected the first time.

Do they make diesel engines for motorcycles ?
AccompaniedBoy 4 years ago
Yes they do - and some of those cycles get 200 miles to the gallon plus they're beating a lot of speed records.

i'm not saying that socialism is the answer. however, who ever said it wasn't ok to replace that economic ladder with some stairs.

You can get the fuel even from other things such as algae, but I know exactly what you mean.
Try looking up <b>"skyscraper farms"</b> in Google - There's one planned for downtown Toronto.

Also, there are engines in Europe with very fuel efficient engines, that we can't get here in the U.S. - many scams going on apparently.

well diesel engines don't stop the pollution do they?
What about electric cars.. Have you seen the Film "Who killed the electric car" what do you think about that?
The power for those cars could come from solar and wind energy in time.

Thanks again Josh - We could start putting diesel engines in every NEW American car TODAY.
People (voters) should know what's preventing that from happening - and a former Secretary of Energy should be able to answer that.

EXACTLY. Maybe we should bring this to the attention of maybe ALL the next presidential candidates?
