I was supposed to go to my friends that day who lived right in the middle of Durham....thank god I wasn't able to go :( my mom was freaking out saying "You could have been there!" couldn't reach my friend for days. I honestly count my blessings on this one.
Freeze the video at 0:08, that was close, this appears to be a multiple vortex tornado, and that debris flying over her head shows how lucky the people in this building where the video takes place from really are. That board or whatever it is wasn't something small at the 0:08 mark. It was moving at a good speed also.
I was in this storm. It was crazy i worked just south of Durham on the construction job to mt forest. I saw this shit go down when driving home. I almost shit myself
It looks to me the tornado passed to her south or west or somewhere between south and west. I know up in Canada the sun is up longer, so it's possible that may be viewed somewhat to the NW also. The tornado is usually to the back of a storm and on the right if in the northern hemi-sphere. When I say right side, I mean it as if the storm was a car driving down the road, the tornado is basically around where the right rear wheel is on a car. Best comparison I can come up with, hope it makes sense.
i had to deliver there an hour after. took alot of photos. anyone dispute this is durham? thats the beer store, that monster ran parallel to hwy 6 then over to markdale. thanx for the awesome video. my still pics tell nothing compared to that
im assuming shes in the front entrance to the beer store. pretty solid building....wouldnt worry about it too much, plus if anything happened to it the fine citizens of Durham would be there in a flash to help out. p.s. we dont usually use foul language like that in Durham
MrBBoy13, you're calling the camera operator "stupid", but I submit that that person is the one with the gonads, and not you....who sits safely at home in front of his pc and reaps the benefit of the "stupid" person's efforts. I've got a lot more respect for the former, not the latter.
WOW!! Incredible footage; five stars! You don't think of this being in Canada; this is more like Texas weather, where I'm at! NOT fun!! Stay safe and be careful, hear??
If you know anything about tornadoes, you should have known that Canada gets lots of them - second-most on the planet. At least 100 per year that strike populated areas, perhaps as many more that nobody sees further north and are not within Doppler range. 200 is a lot of tornadoes.
right, most people do not know that Canada has the second most tornado's behind the U.S, it is less rare in more populated area's, we shouldn't be totally surprised. They confirmed today that there were 17 tornado's that touched down on that day.
holy fuckity fuck fuck fuck.

Good job Josie.
I'd be scared sh**less!
When that same storm barrelled into Toronto; later than the storms that hit the York Region, I was freaked!
You saw the destruction, first hand.
Too bad about that young lad who died. So sad.....terrible! :(

CBC news broadcasts someone saying, "holy fuck" during a tornado. News outlets in "the land of free speech", aka America, would have bleeped her.

what, land of the free? whoever told you that is your enemy.

They probably should have bleeped that... heck, I should have bleeped it before uploading....
