I took a litter of mine out to test for natural instints on sheep at 7 wks. . One of my females did a 40 yd. outrun. stopped the lead ewe and laid down. When the sheep turned back and started to move, she got up and ran them down again! At 7 wks. and never seen sheep. She was born with 'the eye'. Love Border Collies! I am down to 3 now from 5. @talk2malawyer simple instinct. Sheep are a 'prey' animal and dog is a 'preditor' animal. Because sheep is prey they fear just about everything. Flight first, identify later is the sheep moto.
dog instinct is a mind blower...funny thing i have a 9 week old pup indentical as can be to that little one. only that urs has a slight higher sock on his left front. but besides that its a mirror image.
