as long a one can get a good prescription with glasses or contacts i cant see why anyone would have this done.Any other physical problem if surgery messed it up would not be as life changing as ones vision.
@theKing332 Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and Laser-Assisted Sub-Epithelial Keratectomy (or Laser Epithelial Keratomileusis) (LASEK) are laser eye surgery procedures intended to correct a person's vision, reducing dependency on glasses or contact lenses.
@DrFoofyMan Are you a special kind of stupid? Most webcams basically work like a mirror. They do not REVERSE the location of your eyes, but as said; it works like a mirror. So on webcam your left eye is the one that is on the left side of the picture, dumbass.
@usmanblackops No I really did have LASIK surgery which failed on one eye and I had to get the other eye done with PRK. I am all better now and both of my eyes are still 20/20.
@fatbrowne How long did it take for you to recover from the pain of PRK, and how long till you could see 100%? Did you need to wear sunglasses for a while?
I'm considering PRK since it's less expensive and I'll still be able to go into law enforcement, but wary because I've heard from some people (though theirs was a few years ago) the pain can be 2-3 weeks, not the 1 week the doctor told me...
@fatbrowne what does 20/20 mean i be hearing something about my eyes being 50/100 what does that mean and i have a rlly hard time seeing i get mad when i cant see right the doctors even said wow when they saw my terrible eyesight i want my old vision back can u pay it for me :D
Visit our Facebook page "LASIK STORIES" for more information on this procedure. Share your experiences (good or bad) and find relevant information to guide your decision.
@abdc111able Immediately after my eyes felt dry but that goes away with time.
I don't hardly notice my eyes being dry at all unless there is dust around or something. But I do have trouble driving at night because all the lights get so much brighter at night with LASIK
lasik and prk is still dangerous operation and could make you blind if no then it have sure side effects even if it is approved by FDA or whatever there are many drugs with dangerous side effects approved too the safer is glasses and if glasses were not good then the glasses companies would close :-)
@fatbrowne glad your vision is good now cause i felt bad about it when i saw you in the video :-) and wish you always the best take care of your eyes :-)
@sken17 Well I wanted both eyes when I did this but for one of my eyes the tool failed. two-three weeks later I went back and got PRK in the eye that the tool failed for lasik. I am still very happy with the results and I am glad I got it done.
hey i just got lasik on both my eyes on may 26th, today is the second day and my eyes hurt. how long did it take for your eyes to heal? was there a drastic change in your vision after they healed?
No one has EVER went blind after LASIK, Intra LASIK, or PRK. As with any surgery it has risks. The people bashing LASIK should really do some research. Guinea pigs, REALLY!?!?! NASA approved Intra LASIK for their astronauts for crying out loud! LASIK technology dates back to 1968, so it's not "experimental". If you don't want it done that's fine, but don't be spewing ignorant lies. @fatbrowne, glad it worked out, and sorry for your rough start, my wife had PRK 3 years ago; no regrets!
@imnomyth I had a lasik procedure 2 weeks ago, and i cant read, cant drive, cant focus etc. I just ruined my eyes and if god give me another chance, i will probably use glasses again. Lasik is a big fraud!!!! Because more than 20 percent of patients go to a retouch in 3 months. So what is Lasik for then?
@MyRicardo1981 Not to sound too skeptical, but what doctor and where? Had mine done last Thursday and was 20/25 the next morning and at least 20/20 now. I know there are exceptions, but what you are saying sounds very odd...and where did you get you 20% statistic?
It indeed takes some time and a little adjusting. It seems Lasik suited you well? I am very pleased to hear that you are satisfied with the procedure.
@fatbrowne I want perfect vision. My eye doctor said my eyes weren't bad enough, but my new glasses are fucking awful and I had maintaining my glasses - they always get scuffed up some how every 30 minutes.
lasik and all forms of laser eye surgery is not governemnt aproved not is it endorsed or funded by the government. It is very much an experimental proceudre, the paying public are being using a guinnea pigs for results that simply aren't reliable. Bare in mind that the long term effects of the procedure are still unknown. I know 2 people who had it done who's eyesight was fixed but has begun to deterioate again. I urge peope to stick to glasses or contacts don't mess with ur eyes
@hardgayramen4ever I agree with this but I was able to get PRK after this video in my left eye and my vision is now perfect. The only side effect is that at night lights become very bright. I would rather have done lasik and PRK like I did than to just stick to glasses and contacts.
@fatbrowne How bad is the flare and starburst at night? Are you not legally allowed to drive? If you wanted could you be able to drive? Or is the glare and starburst so bad that you cannot drive without serious danger. So a year passed and you still have glare and starburst?
@bishop102 I am legally allowed to drive. I think what it is is that when it gets dark my eyes get super dilated so if I turn on the light in the car I can see better but I think that is illegal to drive with your lights on inside.
@hardgayramen4ever both PRK and Lasik are approved by the Food and Drug Administration as medical procedures. For those of you playing the home game, the FDA is a government department. you sir, are feeding lies to people trying to get information on a possible fix to their eyesight.
@hardgayramen4ever I agree with you however, ,even when something is approved by the government your not safe the drug companies are a wonderful example of that. A lot of it has to do with how experienced the doctor is with preforming this surgery. But yeah ....its not something I myself would do either.lol
how old are yo u and what was your prescription before you got lasik? I am only a teenager but I want to get lasik eventually... my eyesight is very poor.
@shazcrawfordx You shouldn't get LASIK until you're an adult and your eyes have stopped growing. Any doctor offering to perform LASIK on you before you're 18 should be heavily questioned. Your best bet is to simply wait until you're 21 at the earliest.
@sher854 My eyes are much better now. unfortunately I cannot drive at night. It is too bright but otherwise I think it is a great surgery. I would rather swim in the day and be able to see than to drive at night.
@vettegator3 I hope so too. I was aware of the risks but they said i was the perfect candidate and that the only risk was maybe 20 years down the road i may have to get an enhancement but that would already be covered and there was only a 5% chance of that happening.
However what happened here does sometimes happen and he said it happens 1 in 1000 times. He said he could not get a full layer of my cornea so rather than half ass it he did not go ahead with the laser on the left eye.
