  • reba cant hold a candle to this song. for those that think she did the original, you need to know your music. you just make yourselves sound ignorant

  • This video sucks ass

And Reba is better hers has more feeling

And Reba doesn't sound like she is whispering or like she just ran a mile

  • V ikke l . rocks . carol burnnet rocks.enjoy, people.

  • I love the song, the video had nothing to do with the story line of the song. The song is about a cheating wife and a bubba legal system. Not spouse abuse like you referenced in the vid.

  • @bullkamm agreed

  • Happy Birthday Viki

  • I like this video. Goes fairly well with the song. And man, this song STILL gives me the chills!!

  • I remember when this first came out. It was great! Vicki was terrific!!!! Thanks for posting!

  • You know what? I think it was a good video. No matter what other people say.

  • Good song - However the video sucks!

    Eating a hamburger...????

  • I've always loved this song. Vicky's version is the only one that I like.

  • You are a woman of taste and breeding. Bobby Russell wrote it for her to sing. No one else can touch it. No matter where, no matter when...no matter who.

  • to sammy j.

  • u suck

  • lol wdharveyoicu u really think this is a new video? how can u tell? the cellphone? the brand new corvette police car? the cd player??? of course everyone knows this isnt the original video

  • Vicky Lawrence was best known for her comedic roll as Carol Burnett's mother in the "Carol Burnett Show." She wore grey curly haired wigs to play grandmother type rolls. Vicky was a comedian at heart. But in March of 1973, Vicky Lawrence was no laughing matter. Grandma had discovered the 'fountain of youth' when she shocked the world with her #1 hit song, "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia." Tanya Tucker and Reba McEntire recorded the song, but no one sung it quite like Vicky Lawrence.

  • thanks for that tidbit of information....I do think, though, that anyone that may know the Vicky Lawrence version of this song knows she actually premiered the song on that same show. By the way, is your statement a "cut and paste" thing? Because this is the second time i've seen this same post on this song.

  • No. I never cut and paste anything I write from other sources. However, I do google on occasions to make sure everything I send is as accurate as possible. You saw it twice because I usually post the same comments on two or three different threads. So from that vantage point, I do cut and paste my own writings, but never anyone elses. Virtually half of the things I write are based solely on my objective opinions only, and nothing more. Examples can be found under some of my old channel comments.

  • It was an amazing hit by an unlikely singer. It' would be like the punter throwing the winning touchdown pass in the Super Bowl.

  • So, it wasn't the booze...

    It was a damn hamburger?!

  • I like the original by Vicki!

  • You mean this isn't Vicky?

  • Yes, this is Vicky singing ; I just meant I like this version which is the original.

  • So do I..... I was reasonably sure it was Vicky

  • this IS Vicky...but the video is apparently somewhat recent..good, but amateurish. Notice the cell-phone? They didn't have those back in the day when the song came out.

  • Acctually the first time i watched I missed it...Good Eye

  • 1973

  • Amigo, This video is really creative and interesting!

A + Keep up the good work mate! Firstmil

  • I love this video

    Creative and cool

  • Terrible.

Great song, Vicki does the best version. But this attempt at a video...uggg.

    Thanks for trying anyway.

  • Vicki's version is the best, hands down

  • Vicki Lawrence did this song SO much better. All Reba does is scream...she doesn't even sing.

  • @Suki40330 reba is one of the best country music singers ever!! if you think reba is bad you need a big fat dose of reality!! thank god reba did a cover of this song and saved it!!!!

  • @Pendragonrulzall I don't know if Reba saved it, she just reminded people of it. I agree that Reba is great!

  • @Suki40330 reba di a fine job but vickie is better

  • Worst Video EVER

  • I like Reba, but Vickie hit's those notes pretty damn good.

  • i think i like Reba's version better, although this one is great too but they both have separate styles so it makes them different but both great, ya know? lol

  • "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia"-Vicki Lawrence

    "Ode To Billy Joe"-Bobbie Gentry

"The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald"-Gordon Lightfoot

    "Wildfire"-Micheal Martin Murphey

    "Shannon"-Henry Gross

    "Chevy Van"-Sammy Johns

(one funny little thing at 2:56 here is that you can barely hear one of the other guys in the band scream the word "love" in the background)

    "Please Come To Boston"-Dave Loggins

  • i love this song, and this version is much better then rebas IMO

  • OOOOOOOOO you have to be kidding me right? this is terrible i am sop glad Reba redid this.

  • OH you have to be kidding me right. What are you high or drunk? Reba's version is so much better, can't even compare the two? As far as im concerned Reba's is the only version!!

  • I agree with Carlos but opinions vary.

  • She let her brother dangle. hahahaha

  • You guys really like high life in that bar eh? Drinking it and the neon sign. haha. The best!

  • this is good

  • dye your hair white you cracker sounds cool in the audio preview

  • Sorry Vicki does a better job on this song and even Reba has said so. I agree!

  • AS DO I VICKIS AWESOME

  • I love this song, but definitly NOT this version. Reba does a much better job. The video's nothing specail either.

  • I dunno, the ex-friend getting gored is kinda cool.

  • i luv this song!

  • this video is kinda funny

  • it makes no sence at all

  • Hilarious

  • lindsey buckingham

  • i remember this song when i was 11 great song but the video sux

  • did u win? nice video but did u win?

  • Nice to see someone made a "video" of this. I'm justglad it's Vicki Lawrence. This was THE song the month my wife was born back in April of 73.

  • She killed him because there were pickles PICKLES on his burger. Come on, I mean PICKLES! How DARE she out PICKLES on his burger?

  • Funny

  • she killed them the sister and he took the blame for her...watch rebas version far better

  • Only in reba's version does the brother know it was his little sister that killed Andy. As for Reba being better that I have to disagree on.

  • idk i think that Andy was cheating on his friends fiance and the sister killed andy and his fiance i think...idk

  • I want to suk his dik

  • She also killed Andy Wallow. So, the sister is the singer of the song.??

  • Yes

  • The sister killed her brother's wife.

  • Now I'm really confused-- did the sister kill her fiance?

  • 'Cause Andy was the sister's fiance, I'm pretty sure.

  • She killed Andy, as Andy was the guys friend.

  • I think the video could be more in sequence with the song.

  • this is a great song. It really has something in it, not empty words.

  • True, but she had ''been seeing that Amos boy Seth'' according to Andy Wallow at Webbs bar. ''He'' saw red and left the bar. Andy ''got scared'' and also left the bar. ''Brother'' went home and found ''the only thing pappa had left him and that was a gun.'' Off to Andy's house and we know the rest. How did his sister know Andy also had an affair? and why didn't she do in Seath Amos as well ?

  • Small town she would know and how do we know she didn't kill Seth when she killed her brother's wife just not part of the story.

  • Why did the singer(Vicky Lawrence) kill Andy Wallow instead of Seth Amos??

  • His little sister killed him.

  • i love how he digs the schnapps out of the toybox.BTW the burger shows that his wife aint doing her wifely duty and cookin him his dinner like any hardworkin man deserves(also shes screwing around on him dont forget).

  • Its a story song...story's fictional. Vickie's best song ever...which ain't sayin much LAWLZ!

  • i dont understand the song someone please explain to me

  • awesome, burger, no burger!!

I love this song. Both versions...

  • great song to go with a great video

  • shooooooot me in thye face thatr was the worst reba remake ihave ever herd sorry the video sucks -and whats with the buger

  • um, it isn't a Reba remake. this is the ORIGINAL.

  • @hitbyatrain YEA !

  • @jordanhicks1027 ummm sorry to burst your bubble this isnt a remake this is the original and sorry but reba sucks ass compared to this version IMHO

  • the song scared me when i heard it the first time too, but for some reason i still wanted to hear it again. i know right? but um...what IS that burger for?

  • All right, all right. . . the burger was a gag we put in to show that the dude was a jerkass. He doesn't like pickles, but, because he's a bad guy, instead of picking them off, he yells at his wife. Yeah, probably stupid, but we only had 48 hours to do the whole thing, and it's surprising what you come up with when you're sleep deprived.

  • i dont understand...can you explain the song to me?

  • This song used to scare me when I was a kid, and it's still pretty creepy.

    Good post.

  • yeh whats up with the burger??

  • That was done on purpose.

  • The original was done by Vicki Lawrence in the 1970s. I like her version and Reba's.

  • Yes. This was Vicki Lawrence's version, written by her husband. It was done for a contest where we were given 48 hours to do a music video for a random song. This was our song.

  • sorry i no this is the orignal but reba > this

  • what's up with the whataburger?...

  • Well Done.

  • cool song
