  • cool : )

  • And now I'm designer! Amazing.

  • My ears pricked up with delight at 2:46 onwards. OH GEORGE!!

  • i never knew fender made a hollowbody

  • @dougthealligator

They actually have made three different Hollowbody Models. The Coronado was the first, then there was the hollowbody late 60s Thinline Telecaster (not differentiated from the semi-hollow Thinline that was introduced in '72 with Seth Lover's Wide Range Humbucking pickup. Newer reissues of the 60s Thinline use the 70s Thinline construction methods though), and the Fender Starcaster (not to be confused with the cheap starter pack strat).

  • @Kangaxxter i knew that theyve made semi hollow teles but i didnt know that other stuff...interesting

  • whats that song at 3:20?

  • I never understood why Fender moved away from the hollow body.

The Coronado was a great guitar.

  • @Philtration Because it wasn't competitive in sales... the market interested in a hollow guitar was eaten up by Fender's competitors before the Coronado even hit the market, and most of that market wouldn't be interested in a bolt-on neck. Things may be different these days, of course...

  • i agree fender should reissue one its hollowbody models.

  • @PopExpo The closest thing you can buy to this is a Hagstrom Viking IIP its a bolt on hollowbody 335 shape and P90s I'm probably gonna get one myself when I come into some money

  • what amp settings do you have man? if you remember haha

  • I have one for sale red and black mint condishhhh $5000 ... seriously mint

  • Have you though of retrofitting it for EMG 81s? Would be minimal routing and would sound much better

  • @elitemathlete do you understand how stupid an idea that is? Modify a brilliant retro guitar which would devalue it, for some pickups which would make the guitar loose all its single-coil character, the pickups high-gain output would cause huge amounts of feedback on it's hollow body. Guitars like this dont need updating, leave the EMGs to the identakit Ibanez's.

  • @V100BB

Dude, it isnt even a real ES 335, why not tinker?

  • @elitemathlete Because it's not supposed to sound or be like a 335, it has a really unique tone, and ruining that with EMGs would be a really bad idea

  • This is the Guitar my father left my Mom and I when he passed away, His most prized possession, She gave it to me and said I needed to play it for him.

Now it's just sitting there, I dunno how I could pick it up, But it is the most beautiful thing in this world, unplugged or live.

    This guitar is amazing!

  • Cobain shouldve play this one

  • I want one!!!!!

  • I wish Fender or Squier would reissue the Coronado. Along with the original Starcaster.

  • 2:46 Hey Hey My My? or Oh George?

  • little bit out of tune

  • Very unique sound, you don't get a lot of sustain out of it though. Excellent rhythm guitar.

  • Had I the dough, I would buy one.

  • What kind of pickups r those? Also he's playing icky thump way off tempo, it's not like it's even a hard song

  • Comment removed

  • @Thatfenderguy Yeah it is it's not even close to the right beat.

  • What kind of pickups r those?

  • That guitar has a really pretty pure tone....

  • What is better? Will this guitar or a Gibson ES-335?

  • @rallyivan1234 different sounds completely, the coronado's great, people approach it like a strat or a les paul, but if you approach it with an open mind and listen to it's own qualities, you'll get shown a reallllll good time :)

  • @V100BB Federn rules!!!

  • @rallyivan1234 They are two completely different guitars. But they are both great.

  • weird oddball guitars, but with tons of mojo and vibe ,Id love to get one on the cheap, guitar vintage snobs kinda skip over these but they actualy sound and play really good

  • I've had mine since it was new in '67. It's almost a Carolina blue. I've always loved it except the feedback onstage could be a nightmare if you weren't ALWAYS aware of where you were standing in relation to the speakers.

  • Wow. That sounds nothing like the internet describes. "Shit and terrible". That sounds pretty nice!

  • My uncle has a Coronado with the Antigua finish . I'm not sure of the year , but he bought it brand new as a teenager living near Pottsville , Pa . . He always tells me " I used to drink free Yuenglings because of this thing . " I'm hoping he'll remember his favorite nephew when he's ready to part with it . I know Coronados aren't worth a lot of money . But to me , his is priceless .

  • @squabs217 Not a lot of money?! The antigua finish could nab you $3500!

  • Coronado, hey thats my last name!!

  • I can`t understand what all the fuss is about these Coronados. They weren`t that brilliant when new (I know, I had one about 1968 kept it for about 3 weeks.Traded it in for a Strat..!) They looked fine but sounded tinny and fed back before I could get any volume because of the hollow body construction. But I suppose rarity has something to do with it and the fact that they weren`t around that long makes them a bit scarce and probably desirable to a younger generation - what floats your boat..!

  • @jonb0002 one man's trash is another man's treasure?

  • Exciting sound

  • I wish fender would bring back this model, I prefer this over stratocaster or any other model out there.

  • how much did you pay for yours, sounds awesome, really great tone.

  • I'm suprised Fender never reissued the Coronado.

  • Just played a Coronado for the first time this past Friday (one pickup model).

  • is this a short scale guitar?

  • oh my god dude! this is probably the coolest fender i've heard. beats the hell out of the generic sounding strats they put out these days.

  • I want one man any idea were I could find one?

  • fuck man play real chords gah what is it?

  • it sounds like Grestch and Strat had a baby..thats a nice guitar, rare though and pricey, you mustve gotten a good deal..

  • I've read that some people complain that coronado's give back a lot of feedback, but it sounds great in this video! have you ever had any problems?

  • I love the White Stripes cover. Shortscale rules!

  • fender should make re-issues of this.

  • icky thump!

  • beeeautiful guitar i wished they were in stores

  • oh, damn! it's good that there are still guys like you who collect that kind of beautiful pieces of artwork! Keep On Rockin'!

  • i played my 72 thinline tele along with this guy and the sound of the coronado is only slightly warmer.. not sure which one i like better..

  • Ahh, Mark Mulcahy's signiture guitar.

  • What scale is the Coranado? is it 25.5?

  • Awesome Guitar, and excellent tones! I especially like it with the overdrive.

  • the axe of seasick steve!!!

  • is this for sale?

  • i'm looking for a Coronado bass. Those are so hard to find now

  • my grandpa found a really beat up one of these in his attic and he gave it to me and i got it fixed up it is a pretty good guitar

  • @jazzboxer23 AWESOME!!I wish I had a grandpa with old guitars in his attic.

  • lol, this guitar was a real flop haha, looks awesome tho. Also, tune your guitar!!

  • check out my 66 coronado demo NOW UP..

  • will do. this demo aint even in tune.

  • sweet guitar. kinda extra punchy on that strong overdrive but sounds cool. hey man you aint half bad

    ~Bungee

  • got a 66 two tone burst coronado yesterday... demo soon..

  • I can't wait to hear it, we definitely need more demos of this guitar

  • indie to tha bone........

  • Blatantly a classic rock guitar...

  • I inherited a 65 same color except mine has a bisby tailpiece. One of the pickups or a control knob is not working and the paint is flaking. Do you know anyone who works on these giutars. I am a picker and have a large collection of guitars but because of the sentimental value I would like to get this guitar back up to par. Thanks, Sherrill

  • iv'e been wanting a coronado for a while now, lucky

  • That has some really sweet chord tones. A little lacking in lead tone but damn, those chord tones are amazing. I love the warmth and the shape of all the notes in the chord. Great balance...sweet guitar.

  • ICKY THUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • kickass guitar

loved the clean sound it's awsom

  • I personally love the overdrive on the hotrod series amps .. very nice guitar btw .. if you would be interested in giving it to me for free, let me know !! I will even split the shipping cost with ya! HA! j/k ..

  • man, great sound, nice and sticky like other fenders but has more warmth and hollowness

  • I always wanted a Cornado. I play lefty and have seen one from time to time (lefties are out there but few and far between). These are true hollowbodies (more like ES330's)than ES335's. Also these have Dearmond single coil pickups. Thanks for the demo. Mark

  • Good sounding Guitar..

Looking for a great sounding vintage Guitar? Check out my Hagström Viking I...

  • sounds pretty much like an ES

  • Nice guitar.

Next time however, tune it properly.

    AAAIIIGHHH!!!!!

  • great guitar, f off haters lol!!

  • whitestripes

  • also Graham Coxon from Blur used one in the video for "she's so high" i think. They are cheaper than most vintage guitars on ebay so you all best get one. Also, these type of hollowbodies are supposed to be bolt on neck. They're not supposed to sustain thats what gives the guitar a more snappy tone in conjunction with the dearmond single coils.

  • graham used a 12 string version

  • i love this guitar. I want one so much. i think it sounds great. This is Courtney Taylor (dandy warhols) main guitar.

  • nice warm tone

  • Fuck yeah man! Foo fighters all the way! sweet geetar too

  • How much did you buy this for?

  • $400, it was spelled wrong on ebay, and didn't even have the word "Fender" in the description for the auction. I WAS LUCKY.

  • its strange... i must be nuts, but I feel like it sounds pretty similar my sheratton with a gibson classic 57 on the brigde.

  • eh, odds are you'll never come across one anyway lol unless you know someone with one, or visit a lot of places with old, rare guitars XD

  • pretty much thats how it is

  • were did you get that man

  • semi-acoustic does count as acoustic. But this guitar isn't semi-acoustic. It's a hollowbody electric.

  • Man I just cant stop watching this!! I love that guitar...Fender is the greatest! so if you guys are into BCRich and crap go to their videos and stop commenting in this one!

  • i think it sounds great. it would be better if he took rolled the bass off a bit and perhaps more treble. these guitars are great...if you're into this kind of tone, which i am. personally (to comment on earlier posts), i find ibanez guitars to have no soul whatsoever apart from maybe my £200 jetking. almost everyone i know who has one has his head up joe satriani's ass

  • I agree with you, with the exception of a few of Ibanezes Hollow-bodies. I went to guitar center looking for a hollow-body, tried all kinds of epiphones (I was looking for a cheaper one) and even tried a cheaper gretsch or 2, and the $375 Ibanez AF75 was the best of them all. Best discount guitar I've ever found.

  • my first semi-acoustic was a ibanez AS-93 (i think). It was mahogany and flamed sycamore top. Less than £300. It was great but the neck was too fat and i traded it in for an acoustic. I should have kept it. I have a ibanez semi-acoustic bass with one humbucker. Its amazing. Its the only bass i'll use until i find an epiphone rivoli on ebay

  • I might keep that Ibanez if I were you, the Epiphone Rivoli has some pretty strong detractors.

  • sry there, not an acoustic, second, this ISNT MADE FOR CRAPPIN METAL

  • sound good ,look like oasis,ya

  • You are 16 yrs old and like BC RICH guitars. I suggest you grow some pubes and then comment on videos.

  • Hey man, it may be crap to you, but your into BC RICH. Let's leave the opinions to those who know about guitars.

  • I think the Fender Coronado II is one of the most underrated guitars ever.

  • @jonny1251 can you stick a bigsby or other vibrato on?

  • @sirvidia yes but you need to drill holes

  • @jonny1251 dude yes u are right i have to find this thing

  • HI, I'm italian.. (I don't speek english).

Have you a guitar fender coronado XII ?

  • Hey got an identical one but not as new as yours.Probably the nicest looking guitar fender ever produced

  • Awesome! Thanks. Its not as new looking in person, the camera makes it look mint for some reason, it has 40 years worth of mileage on it.

  • SEX WEE.
