    Thanks!

  • You do know that you only need to hold down the sleep/wake button right? Most iPods work that way. Since when you have to press multiple buttons to turn off and iPod?

It's also on apple's website... Just saying.

    But good video!!:)

  • @alyshaw101 Haha, yeah, I made this video before the update. Thank goodness they fixed it!

  • The 1.1 version is fucking shit. Sleep button stucks after 3 weeks or a month. Apple will replace all the iPods with this problem, but they have to fix it, it will happen again and again. Please, help us to complain, we have to get some discount in the new versions.

  • hey help please. When i turn my ipod nano on and leave it untouched for like 3 min, it automatically goes to sleep mode and my music that i was currently playing turns off. How can i stop this? is there something i need to do in setting?

    Help please!

  • @nudle19 I would take a look at the settings. Usually there's a time you can set for how long it takes before it goes into sleep mode, and that's where you'd be able to fix the problem (I hope)

  • thank you

  • dood, u know u can turn it off by just holding the sleep button. this is so u dont have to waste 5 seconds

  • @Zombiepingoo That's why I have the annotation that there's an update for it now that allows you to do that. I made this video before apple created the update

  • @Zombiepingoo Hence the annotation. I made this video before that update..

  • thanks so much this model is fuckin ridiculous

  • @shredderchick23 no problemo

  • i know it says the 6th gen nano has 24 hours of battery life. but is really 24hours? please answer. Thanks

  • @mattie850 I'm pretty sure it doesn't, but that's just speculation on my part. I mean, they say it has 24 hours of battery life, but not in my experience, even if it is fully charged :P

  • Help-Full! No I know why my I-Pod was dead every hour!

  • @UpsidedownCrayons haha, glad I could help!

  • Thanks man! Now I can sleep in peace knowing that my new iPod nano is turned off

  • @meshal1986 sure thing dude. check out my other stuff too!

  • 31k views just to turn the thing off! lol

  • thank you so much!

  • when i pressed the 3 buttons at the same time, it didn't go to the diagnostic screen...what to do?? =="

  • @hoiningt make sure that you press down the + and - buttons first, then press the sleep button. there could be a new update that got rid of that though, idk. Since I made this video, I've stopped using that ipod :P

  • why is apple making ipod nano harder to turn off?? when i was using my ipod nano 3rd, i only needed to hold down the play/pause button, then it'll just turn off..now we have to go through all these extra effort..wtf..

  • Thanks, guy!!

  • i cant turn on this freakin ipod nano that i found -_-

  • Great.

Now if they can add back all the shuffle options...

  • You saved my life. I love you right now. <3

  • why did 28669 people watch how to turn off a ipod nano Oo

  • @graalwithme because 28669 people didn't know how to turn the ipod off. It's that simple :P

  • legit way to make extra cash online /watch?v=BMPhsRN19Ms

  • Comment removed

  • @MLEandTJ possibly. It's never happened to me, and I've done it tons of times. I would recommend just updating it so that it's easier to turn off

  • All you have to really do is make sure the music is paused and then you hit the sleep buton or whatever. I used to have a problem with getting the battery to last, too. I used this method and I don't know if it messed up my iPod a bit because at one point after doing it, my iPod refused to turn on for a while.

I found out that simply pausing it will save battery life. I found this by mistake, actually and it works. No need for all this complicated stuff :)

  • my ipod has been running for a month straight without turn off thanks man

  • thanks so much man.

  • thank you soo muchhh <333

  • I had this problem too and I had to do all this holding the buttons down to turn it off too. But apple have released an Update 1.1 so when you next plug your iPod into your computer, go into iTunes and Check For Updates. It should come up with the update. It lets you turn OFF the iPod by just holding down the sleep/wake button. Then you turn it back on the same way. Hope that helped =]

  • omg thank you it was so annoying that my ipod would die in like a day

  • Thank You

  • helped. (Y)..... somuch LOL TY. i was going mad thinking i broke the thing,

  • i did this.. and now it wont turn on no matter waht i do..i really hate you right now..

  • I dunn what ur talkin' 'bout young man.

Now that makes 2 of us.:-D

    And,

    No.

  • I was really frustrated finding my nano dead every time i get to the gym. It played symphonies for my gym bag through the night.

Although your method seems to work, it still a helluva schlep!

Come on Apple! Fix! ON/OFF how hard can f#% it be!

  • Lidlurch-thought you were smart enough to figure out the metaphor.

    I was wrong.

Btw,i have had my nano 6 running for 27 hours now continuously.

I'll completely shut it off later with the 3 step series of single and double button press's i've learned of

    that you didn't.

    Later.;-)

  • @Imtheseeker1 you should make a video using that technique. The safer the better!

  • Ps

Don't mess with the inboard menu.

Think of it as the bios on your computer.

You don't really want to change the interrupt do you?

    If u do,can I watch?:-D

  • @Imtheseeker1 change the interrupt?

  • Far out:-)

    It works!

After thinking I blew 200 w/tax I could have lost my marbles when it wouldn't shut down or at least stand by.

I DO want apple to fix this with an update tho!

I have a 10$ Dane Electric mp3/flash drive that has an off switch.

    Just shut it off.no problem.

    So,whats the excuse Apple?

    For 200$?!

    That sucks!

Anyway, asides from the issue,i really like this mini marvel ipod.

  • THANK YOU!!!! :)

  • nice thanks man!!!!

  • Thanks! really!!!!!!!!

  • thank you!! :)

  • Thank you SO much! really helpful!!! :D :D

  • It looks like it stuffed mine up - cant turn it on now and computer or Itunes dont recognise it. I will be returning it, pitty.

  • @Adastra666 press and hold the volume down and sleep button for 6-10 seconds =)

  • @Courtsuki Unfortunately, it got corrupted - not recognised by Itunes or computer anymore, cannot even restore it. I can switch in off through the pushing all the buttons way though :-) I already took it to Apple and they coudn't fix it, offered to replace. But I returned it and got Sony instead.

  • @Adastra666 that really sucks... I was warned that that may happen, but I'm glad They're willing to replace it if that happens

  • thanks for the help man. But what a dumb way to turn it off. Apple messed up on that one!

  • thanks this thing has really been pissing me off

  • can someone help me i can't get my ipod to turn back on the screen is black ...its on the charger i press the sleep wake button i hold on the buttons down still doesn't come on i need some help

  • @bluewaffle2014 try plugging it into your computer to see if it is detected. You may have just gotten a defective screen or something. either that, or you just need to charge it overnight.

  • The new nano does not have an on/off button, there's no play button to hold down. In actuallity it's designed to save battery life if used correctly. All you need to do is not have any programs running when you hit the sleep button (the one that turns it on) that means pause your music, stop the pedometer, or radio etc. When you press the "on/off" button it goes into a sleep mode. It stays in sleep mode for 34 hours. Then will actually turn off if you don't touch it within those 34 hours.

  • @FaKeYoUrGoD

Obviously, you don't have one of these. If the battery didn't go down so quickly after being asleep with all of those apps off, then people wouldn't be looking at this video. I've used it and put it to sleep without those things, and the battery wouldn't last 34 hours asleep, even without those apps running.

  • @FaKeYoUrGoD do your work at apple? ´Cause the "intelligently management battery life" is just a joke. A bad one.

  • thanks for the tip. really helped.

  • Thanks for the tip, I've been wondering about this! I was like, "I'm good with technology, but there's no God damn power button! Argh!"

  • Thank you so much! :)

  • doesn't work

  • @kristidavi then ur doin' it wrong

  • GREAT....thanks 4 putting this up.....IT WORKS

  • This really DOES work. I tried this and kept it shut off for 2 days. Turned it back on and the battery still had a complete and full charge! Now I wonder if a person keeps doing this over and over, if over time, it will mess it up or create hardware issues.

  • @midwestbroncosfan I really hope not... i was warned that it may cause some corruption, but in all honesty, i'd rather be at risk than deal with the battery life it was having before

  • @lidlurch No doubt. Totally worth it IMO. I wonder if they won't have something to shut it off in a future software update. In the meantime, being able to do this, makes this Nano the BEST one yet. Love it.

  • did not work for me

  • @pentogram23 if at first you don't succeed, try try again

  • @lidlurch I did......I used a hammer....

  • thank you dude mine kept dieing i couldnt figure it out

  • I bought the Nano a few days ago, and I couldn't how to turn it off until I watched your clip. I even looked around on a message board. Thank you so much!

  • THANKS FOR THIS!!!!!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCHH

  • Thank you so much for showing me this! I got this for Christmas and after I got it I started hearing stories that it doesn't shut off and I WAS super frustrated about it! Thanks again! :)

  • cool thanks

  • I cant turn it on! I hold the sleep/awake button and that doesnt work. I did all the buttons, and that didnt work, either.

  • @caitlynxsings try charging it for a few hours

  • I bought this for my wife for Christmas and she has been irritated with this issue as well. I showed her your video after I researched the problems and she wanted me to tell you that you are her new best friend! lol Thanks man!

  • @jeffsc67 glad i could help :D

  • thank you so much, oh my gosh. it was making me so mad to have to charge the dumb thing every day....

  • what would happen if you selected power and not stand by?

  • @saintsplaya It gives you a list of options including:

PMU Status (no idea what that is)

    System Voltage

    USB Current Limit

    Charger Staus

    Battery Status

    Power drain mode

You can experiment with all of these, but i'm pretty sure none of them include an actual way to turn off the ipod

  • THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! I love my Ipod but not being able to turn it off got on my nerves, ugh....thanks again man :)

  • Why cant there just be an off button

  • thank's so much whoever did this action. if u didn't do it my mom would haved killed me!

  • @Denevil12345 harsh mum

  • Thank you. I was beginning to get irritated by my brother constantly asking me, "How do you turn it off?!?!" I was going to blow his brains out if he asked once more. So yea, not only did you give me the satisfaction of feeling superior to my dumb-ass older brother, but you also saved his pitiful life. XD

  • @zannascox that story just made my day :D

  • @lidlurch I'm so glad for that. XD

  • thanks man your a big help! :-)

  • Thank you!!! i got one for Christmas and i thought there was something with it lmao.Thxx :)

  • omg thnk u lol. it is very fustrating to not kno how to turn it off. thnks ;)

  • God dude thnx. pissed me off tht its not as simple as every other iPod

  • Thank you SO much!! I was freaking out for literally thirty min! Great!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

  • @N1Y2R3E4E5 YOU'RE WELCOME SO MUCH!!!

  • thanks dude $150 u think they would have on off switch...

  • @wasp3451 I know, right?

  • Thanks, this really is unnecessary annoying apple needs a software revision asap.

Thank God I still have my first ipod the 4g nano.

This things still great but the battery life is such ass is useless for more than 5 hours of use.

  • @BuffaloWarrior7 well, it would conserve energy better if they had put an on/off button, or even made the ipod just a little bigger to put in a larger battery. i wouldn't have minded that :p

  • dude THANKS! my new ipod was driving me crazy!

  • @ksajcatb no problem!

  • my ipod doesnt go in to the menu just truns off...... is this some sort of update or what?

  • well it now just resarts

  • @nebby589 The main problem that most of my commenters are having is that it just resets the ipod. i would advise to make sure you are pressing the up/down volume buttons FIRST, then press the sleep button as you are holding down the volume buttons. it will just reset if you press the sleep first. or let one of the buttons up as you are holding them down

  • @lidlurch yh thanx got it sorted you were right

    thanks man :)

  • @nebby589 well, I don't know. The main problem that most of my commenters are having is that it just resets the ipod. i would advise to make sure you are pressing the up/down volume buttons FIRST, then press the sleep button as you are holding down the volume buttons. it will just reset if you press the sleep first.

  • THANK YOU!!! i was getting really annoyed until you showed me how! haha

  • thanks man! Now i dont regret my christmas present to myself!!

  • @zock137 Haha, yeah, i was pretty disappointed when i got one, but i'm glad i found a way to turn it off. :)

  • this only worked for me one time.... after that it just get's black, then the Apple-logo shows up (without me pushing anything) and then the home menu screen shows up :P It looks like it just turn's off and on directly :P

  • @jorgenk3 Just make sure that you

1 press the up and down volume buttons FIRST

2 hold all three buttons down even after the apple logo pops up

usually it will just reset if you don't press the volume buttons first... sorry about the confusion!

  • Comment removed

  • @lidlurch why cant u jus hold down the sleep button for 10 secs to turn off completely geez why all 3 complicated buttons at once fuck

  • thanks! :) the low battery life was driving me nuts! :)

  • @Jobafan08 same here!

  • Yay! Thanks!

  • @trancicfly Yay, you're welcom!

  • God I'm so happy I found this! I got an Ipod Nano for christmas, and it was really annoying that I couldn't turn it off completely! Thanks man :D!
