To JasperAbraxxious, I have not seen Ian Richardson's portrayal of Holmes but I shall be sure to check it out. I do feel though if you look at the illustrations in the Strand magazine, there is an uncanny resemblence between Jeremy Brett and the drawings of Holmes by Sidney Paget. I suppose Brett portrayed Holmes how he thought best and for that I think he did an excellent job. Best wishes to you :)

I have never understood why most people think Jeremy Brett was the best screen Holmes. He was cold, creepy looking and had no charisma. Of course, this is simply my opinion.

In MY opinion, by FAR the best Holmes was Ian Richardson, even though he only appeared as Holmes twice, and in fairly ordinary TV movies. None the less, he LOOKED like Holmes should look, had a charming face and smile, sounded like Holmes should sound and was very whimsical. I urge everyone to check our his portrayal.

Of course, 'tis only my opinion. To put it in perspective though, I actually quite like Jeremy Brett as an actor, but I still do not believe he made a good holmes and I stand by my "no charisma" comment. But again, 'tis only my opinion, not fact. JB always struck me as being more suited to "hard nosed cop" roles than something like Holmes. Then again, 'tis only my.... :)

Thanks for your comment! The clips I used just happened to be some of my favourite ones from the series' that would hopefully fit with the music. Not sure why Holmes and the Professor turned up at the end, that's just the way I made it at the time I guess. There are many brilliant JB vids out there, have fun checking them all out ;-)
