Cricut Expression Cutting Machine with 4 Cartridges

I just got my cricut today & was real excited. However...I didn't get the " Plantin Schoolbook" cartridge like i was supposed to get. The bigger problem tho is it isn't cutting right. It's barely leaving an impression & ONE tiny part got cut. I'm very frustrated, don't know what I'm doing wrong. I watched the video that came with it & still don't know why it isn't cutting right :(
