  • Fassbender was perfect for the role, especially with his German heritage. Worked out nicely.

  • As much as i love Simon Pegg, I dont think I would have been able to watch this movie without thinking of sometjhing like Shaun of The Dead.

  • Although I love Simon, Michael Fassbender was absolutely perfect as Archie Hicox. Definitely better suited to the role.

  • Michael Fassbender was the right choice for Lt. Hicox

  • As much as I would have liked Simon Pegg in the film Michael Fassbender did such a great job I'm not too fussed.

  • If anything I would have liked to hear him speak auf deutsch

  • I am amazed that Tarantino managed to fool people like me that that was a great movie. 15 minutes of firefight and over two hours of talking. If Simon Pegg is going to be in an insane parody of WW2 movies he should wait for the big screen adaption of the Rifle Brigade comic books by Warren Ellis. He could play the goofy gay leftenant who constantly tries to trick his CO(who he wants to raise kittens with)into committing a gay sex act! If they don't cast Graham Norton or Rupert Everett, that is.

  • I think the whole scene in the movie where Lt. Hicox gives himself away by not having a perfect German accent and giving a wrong hand signal, would have been funny and hilarious with Simon Pegg. Not just overly long, unbelievable and ridiculous. Seriously, they all started shooting-20 minutes later than they should have! Even more unbelievable: Brad Pitt going the Nazi scalper complaining about Diane Kruger shoots the last Nazi cuz he made a deal?!

  • Wow, he was really humble about that. This makes me like him even more.

  • As good as Michael Fassbender was, I do wish Simon Pegg had played Lt. Hicox... every time I watch the movie, I can't help thinking, 'Man, Simon would have OWNED this role!"

  • @phemyda94 same here but what i keep wondering is how would he have done the german lines.

  • fassbender was a much better choice, tho pegg is amazing

  • Michal Fassbender - German/Irish - Played an English character.

Simon Pegg - English - Beaten for an English role.

    IRELAND BEAT ENGLAND... AGAIN!!! :D

  • i didnt kow he was gonna be in it!! im devistated now lol.. i love simon pegg lol. and why is their dislikes on this viedo?...

  • The character required fluent German, is Pegg fluent in German?

  • @KnightOwl2006 .....He only needs to learn the german parts of his script, not the whole language.

  • @OGAtlas why cuz most of it was in german what did yu expect from a film about nazis and hitler lol why would german ppl talk english thats like making a movie about canada n having everyone talk fucking spanish lol

  • @robinator123 he would've been Lt. Archie Hicox, the English guy who could speak German, so went undercover with the Basterds in the film.

  • Does anybody know what role Pegg would have been playing in Basterds? This is the first time I've heard of his involvement.

  • @robinator123 jew #4

  • Simon Pegg is fucking awesome..

  • @TheFriendOfTheDead he is :-) he fucking rocks!

  • It's good thing Simon was not there, it would stain his carrier like a shit-stain. That movie was such rubbish.

  • @tretii Tarantino might not be the top ten director some people make him out to be but, his films certainly arent rubbish (for a mainstream director his films are quite good for what they are). Tarantino's works arent the most original films ever, they lift a lot of ideas and sometimes whole scenes from other films but, they work as love letters to the films he loves. Also, Pegg's career has already been stained by appearing in crap like Hot To Lose Friends, and Run Fatboy Run.

  • Fassbender sucked in that movie, his english accent was so over the top. I loved this movie but if Simon pegg was in it instead of Fassbender i mite have actually enjoyed that really long celebrity heads scene. Pegg rules

  • omfg simon pegg in inglourious bastards that would of made my day, missed out on a big funny film there

  • Good job he was busy. Fassbender was the best thing in that movie.

  • Haha! I found that hilarious for some reason when he's like "Let's not talk about films I'm not in, haha!" Simon Pegg is awesome.

  • meh to bad the movie sucked monkey chode

  • @snowfox95

Yea it was a bit disappointing to me as well. Looked good in the previews and the movie was mostly meh with a sprinkle of laughter.

  • As much as I like Simon Pegg, Michael Fassbender was fantastic in that role and I can't imagine anyone else playing that character

  • @GratuitousWhimsy I could see why simon pegg would of been great becuase of his english accent speaking german, but yes Fassbender is God

  • Lol, the name's still misspelled. Inglourious.

  • movie would have been even better with simon in it.

  • he wass gonna be cptn Piz Palu?!?!?

    TT...

  • AAARRGGHH!!

  • If he was on IB .... O.o my GOD even cooler !!!

  • i love him! he's so sweet

  • Pegg would've been awesome, just think Pegg, Mike Myers, Eli Roth & Brad Pitt in a Quentin Tarantino film.

  • I want that t-shirt... XD

  • archie hicox is an awesome character

  • totally lived up to pegg's words. fantastic film with amazing actors.

  • Pegg would of been interesting in the movie but i'm so glad the role went to Fassbender, i think M.myers was brilliant too!!!!

  • LOVED HIM IN STAR TREK!!!

  • @MrYamato67 LOVED HIM IN SHAUN OF THE DEAD AND HOT FUZZ!!!!

  • @MrYamato67 fuck yeah! he made an awesome Mr. Scott!

  • why is everyone talking about myers? pegg would'vr played the other officer in the same scene as myers. and anyway i thought he was good! its not a serious film after all...

  • Simon Pegg is fabulous but I've seen IG yesterday and that brought Michael Fassbender to my attention whom I hadn't noticed before (in 300 for example). Fassbender was excellent, his duel with August Diehl is just awesome. Will check out more of his movies. And more of Pegg's movies, too. ;-)

  • you have to watch every single pegg movie you can get. that man is brilliant : )

  • Comment removed

  • He should have dropped everything to be in that movie. I bet he regrets the hell out of that.

    Terrible call.

  • @HCGHollywood why? that movie sucked

  • @HCGHollywood not really a terrible choice, it wasnt a particularly great film. better that pegg work on his own, superior, projects

  • @HCGHollywood I think Simon Pegg has better things to do than star in Mr. Tarantino's rather sick revenge fantasies.

  • @fenderkid6 What, like star in terrible comedies, material way beneath his talent and ability? Please tell me you aren't saying that How to Lose friends & Alienate People is a better film than Inglourious Basterds? (even if you dislike Tarantino that's a ridiculous statement). 'How To Lose Friends' is a perfect example of scraping the bottom of the comedy barrel. Unfortunately Pegg has been wasted in everything but the stuff Edgar Wright was involved in (Spaced, Shaun, Hot Fuzz).

  • Simon Pegg WASN'T going to play Myers' part. Pegg was going to play HICOX, which eventually went to Michael Fassbender.

  • I liked Myers as the character but Pegg woulda been better i think

  • I thought Myers brought a kind of weird, voyeuristic quality to his role in Inglorious Basterds. Just with that ferret-like grin he gives.

  • It was weird seeing him do an actual English accent.

  • I would have prefered Pegg instead of Myers..

I could only think about Austin Powers or Wayne Campbell when I saw him.

    I was kinda disappointed

  • Myers didn't play Pegg's former role-- Pegg would have played Hicox, which went to Michael Fassbender.

  • yeah, but if simon pegg took his place, all you would think about was his character in Shaun of the Dead, and Hot Fuzz...

  • Not me, Simon Pegg's characters in Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead don't even look the same, they are both totaly different characters.

But Mike Myers characters are always making that same old Wayne Campbell dumb grin.

I appreciate Mike Myers as the main character of a movie, (Austin Powers & Waynes World) but not that kind of role he got in IB.

Tarantino should not have taken him. He was bad.

  • I disagree, i think Simon Pegg is just more... How can i say... Flexible, than Myers.

  • lol well, I am just glad Eli Roth played Donnie and not Adam Sandler. I like Sandler, but lets be honest. I don't think he would have pulled off the character either.

  • Pegg would not have worked in that role. Thank God Fassbender did it. After seeing all the Simon Pegg movies I just can't see him portraying this cunning, evil and ruthless character.

  • I love Pegg...but i'm glad that Fassbender did the role.

  • same

  • S. Pegg is one of my favorite actors. I love that guy.

I saw that 'losing friends' movie though, an unfortunately bland movie.

  • Typical Pegg, Gracious and Class all the way.

  • eh, at least Fassbender speaks German

  • poor guy. you could tell he really wanted to be in it and work with him.

  • no kidding. it's a shame that he wasn't :\

  • But he has said he'll be in his next movie

  • WTF Angel was a war veteran...makes sense on how he PWNS at Sandford.

  • i really like simon pegg

  • simon is awsome and soo is Tarantino :D movies goin to be sick

  • Its funny that turkey shit is the best type of turkey shit. Maybe you should cool the trolling until the movie is released IN AUGUST (unless of course you were at Cannes in which case you're just an asshole).

  • WHAT THE FUCK SIMON

    D:

  • Pegg is awesome. Tarantino is too, can't wait to see it.

  • Too bad he couldn't be in the movie

    I like him!:(

  • he should ahve been in instead of micheal myers!

  • "Lets not talk about films that i'm not in" hahahahah

  • Simon Pegg is a humble man.

He better make another badass movie soon too!

  • Plus, you spelt Inglourious Basterds wrong.

  • LOL. You're right. I spelled it correctly, which is actually wrong. Fixing now. Thanks for the heads up!

  • @mjleshock note: you still need to fix "basterds" in the description and tags.

  • @mjleshock

It's been 2 years and you haven't fixed it

  • @rachel11smith Haven't fixed what?

  • @mjleshock It. You haven't fixed it.

  • @mjleshock The title, it's still wrong. It should be "Inglourious Basterds".

  • fenderatastic he spelt it right re re

  • Um, no he didn't.

The Title of the film will be "INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS"

    Misspelled purposely.

  • thats how you spell it

  • this is going to confuse dyslexic schoolchildren.

  • isnt Quentin Tarantino dyslexic???

  • Comment removed

  • @Fendertastic The word you were looking for is, "spelled." Spelt is a type of wheat but that's utterly enjoyable that you're pointing out other's spelling mistakes and you spelled "spelled" incorrectly. Thanks for that, lol.

  • @Mindy1984yaya Actually, we were both wrong. The word I was looking for was "why the fuck is this bitch replying to a year old comment?" Oh, dear, forgive me, I believe that's more than one word.

  • or maybe he is just a nice guy?

  • I like SImon Pegg, I was just kidding because Tarantino's films are really gritty and raw.

  • Pegg is cool, but he's gonna lose a toe for calling one of Tarantino's scripts "Fabulous!"

  • why?

  • I like SImon Pegg, I was just kidding because Tarantino's films are really gritty and raw.

  • Gonna be brilliant.....yea really brilliant mike myers will work..and we ll make it a movie about jews in world war two except this time it wont be about the Holocaust!!!That ll surprise everybody!! No more holocaust industry in this hollywood jew fantasy flick-we ll be the nasty killers this time.

  • Pegg is awesome

  • I wish I hadn't watched this. I'm not going to enjoy Inglorious Bastards as much knowing Simon Pegg was supposed to be in it. It should still kick ass though.

  • Fuck yeah! its got brad pitt in it! :D

  • well thats me put off it.

  • thats a strange comment. plus mike myers is canadian

  • canada IS america neither of them want to admit it though.

  • SHADDAP

  • his parents are british he was just born in canada,so he's british canadian

  • oh man, if pegg and myers were in a movie together directed by tarantino it would be awesome because it combines the best of Britain with the best of America !

  • your opinion lol

  • Rude

  • pigg should of done that movis instead of the 1 bhind him!!!

  • so he would rather be in shitty chick flicks over a tarantino film? wtf ayy

  • Pegg is such an actooor now :(

  • That sucks that he won't have a part in the film. In terms of atmosphere the film creates (by the look of the trailer) he would have fit in very well

  • ah man. quentin is my favorite director and simon is my favorite actor. it is to bad he wont be in this movie.

  • im kinda glad he isnt in it even though i do like him!

  • He's so humble.

  • A SHAME, A GODDAMN SHAME

damn, really would have been much better with simon in it.

  • I love you Simon Pegg, your son of a bitch!!!!!!!!! ♥

  • Hey Simon, I heard this great director is making this great film.. and you aren't in it. How does that make you feel? Tell me all about it.

    ..classy interviewer...

  • Quentin promised to put Simon Pegg in his next movie :)

  • he looks so sad that hes not in it

hopefully he works with tarentino after this

  • Aww such a shame he's not in it :(

  • He is extremely cute and as for inglorious bastard it's a shame he won't be in it..but Tarantinos loss is our gain as he's doing paul with Nick Frost instead...

  • He's so cute.
