It's really interesting to hear his thoughts on Johnny. It's true that Joey & Dee Dee had bouts of mental illness but Johnny just seemed like he was a pretty lonely and unhappy person.
Richie was such a nice person because he spent time with joey, hanging out. Do you think Dee Dee or the producer would do that? I think Richie understand and tried to help Joey.
BAYFEST 2011, Brooklyn's largest waterfront celebration, is thrilled to welcome RICHIE RAMONE (in NYC for Joey' Ramone's Birthday Bash), playing with THE SHOTS on Sunday, May 15--mark the date and come on down! It's FREE!!! For more info about BayFest and the 25 bands and dance troupes taking part in this all-day music festival on the Sheepshead Bay (Brooklyn) waterfront, check us out on YouTube. See you there!
he played a couple of ramone songs with our school band and then showed us some techniques, it was pretty cool, but afterwards he seemed kinda mad, anyway yea it was awsome
@ipedreroc he didnt even play ONE ramones song! he played with the school band, they played 24 or 6 to 5, some long ass jazz song and then signed shit,i got a free signed drums stick from his personal bag of sticks. he also talked about how he learned to play the drums.
@Coppola63 why would he or SHOULD he look punk? first of all , hes old.. sorry to break it to you. and Punk. Secondly, people change. and Most importantly PUNK ISNT A FASHION STATEMENT.. its about doing what you want, and having passion, none of this Hot Topic outfit BS. thats not punk. There wasnt even a Hot Topic in the 70's. How did you think these guys dressed "punk' back then.. they werent even trying.
We believe that Ramones were the super bros......... they were a business too............ we are the fans...we only know what they want to show us (to sold us!)...and we can not kwow them better than a member of the band.........
I don't think he is still angry with the other Ramones, he is just letting the fans know that they are just normal everyday people who where special in their own way.
I think the time he was in the band was special to him, but as we know he left because of the financial situation over his cut of the t-shirt money,etc...
Exactly. Richie was really close with Joey and Dee Dee and he still plays at the joey ramone birthday bash. Richie also did drum tracks for the new Joey Ramone solo album that's coming out. That doesn't sound angry to me. Too bad people try to misinterpret richie saying something nice into something negative.
I think Richie is still angry with the Ramones in this video, because he tells only "embarrassing" things about the guys: Johnny was a punk rocker that had milk with cookies, Dee Dee was a total junkie that was creative by taking dope 24/7, Joey had a tiny head and led a boring life
and he, on the other hand, was the cool, smart one, who taught them how to make music and how to have fun
I think it's about time you get over it, Richie...
You are right.......They were business men too...and if they can keep a coin, they did it....and Richie saw a lot of money arround him.....but nothing to him?!?!?!,......We (the fans) are so romantic about our heroes,..
Everyone's entitled to their opinion. I respectfully disagree as to who was "best" without detracting from the true greatness of Tommy or Marky. For ME, Richie's material is where it's at.

RICHIE IS THE BEST RAMONE DRUMMER
RafoRamone 3 weeks ago
Ritchie was the most underrated member of the Ramones, and brought us "Somebody put Something in my Drink" HE should be in the emblem too!

Richie seems like a really cool guy. Good drummer, too.
I wonder what Johnny was doing while away from the band. He didn't really drink or do drugs. . .
It's cool to hear him talk about the band.

I really liked Richie as a drummer, but it seems like he's kind of douchey IRL

What? Ritchie got screwed just like Jello Biafra screwed the Kennedies! He deserved a cut out of the t-shirt money.
I don't know why punks are so hypocritical. People need money, you know?

Richie was always my fave drummer for the Ramones, my first Ramones show was on the Animal Boy tour and he killed. This guy drills it. Awesome.

Whatever everyone knows that Marky Ramone was the best drummer for the Ramones!

@Paulie88 Agreed! He doesn't really get his due because Tommy was there in the beginning and Marky was there the longest.
