  • conor oberst is best with bright eyes but love it!

  • @joliverius1217 regardless... get him the hell out of this amazing group... get robin pecknold instead

  • @Steverichparker I don't really see how he is affecting the band negatively. Do too many people like him? Possibly. Is he not quite as instrumentally varied as the rest of the group? Possibly. But he works. He's great at guitar and is getting much better at singing. Plus his lyrics oftentimes straddle the line of genius (in my opinion).

  • @MrAjYes failures always sounded better

  • @Steverichparker shut the FUCK up

  • This is real music. Now if they could just make another CD! - I think they got afraid.. They were becoming way too popular...

  • Wow... music in a video... don't see that much. Thumbs up MOF

  • Only person they're missing is Ace Enders.

  • @Jbeauxs and Chuck Ragan, Andy Hull, and Dustin Kensrue. GOD. THAT WOULD BE JUST SOO MUCH GREATNESS

  • I didn't know Zach Galifianakis was in this band. :D

  • @shaniaimaribourne you're kidding, right? :p

  • @NasEscobar1 if i was kidding, would i do this...

  • @shaniaimaribourne .... i don't know. but that's jim james you're talking about, lmfao. i also couldn't believe how much he looked like him :P

  • @NasEscobar1 They are also really good friends :D

  • You don't even have to be a hipster douche with a mustache and librarian glasses to like this!!!!

  • Gnomes bug me

  • Comment removed

  • :) this is a good one.

  • Jim James is seriously the closest you can come to looking like a lion without actually being one, I love it

  • Jim James is the closest human equivalent to a lion...I love it

  • I hear Traveling Wilburys

    great album!

  • Want to see them live :O

  • this is even bettr live, AUSTIN CITY LIMITS RULED!!!

  • i love how the dwarves are impersonating gnomes. well-played, dwarves. well-played.

  • 0:43 Happy frog is happy.

  • These guys are like a modern day Crosby, Still, Nash, & Young. (It's a good thing!)

  • My new theme song!!!!!!

  • Can't make sappy ass depressing kill yourself music your entire life. Sometimes moving on works out really well. :)

  • I needed you like you needed me. People, they need piano keys *cue piano* best part. : )

  • @StevenHartley7

    100% agreement

  • Stealing a tusk from an elephant must

    make one feel creepy inside

  • i love this :)

  • I'm from Brazil and I love it .. it's a pity what monsters of folk isn't much popular in my country

  • Conor does appear happy with Monsters of Folk. It's not that I don't like it. It's that it isn't Bright Eyes. He said he was putting on last album out this fall though, I'll look forward to it.

  • Absolutely amazing <3

  • Absolutely Lovely!

  • its like the four gospels coming together to make one super great gospel

  • Please Conor, don't leave Bright Eyes for this

  • @ThuLarryR unfortunately he already said he is pretty much done with bright eyes. ×tear×

  • My boyfriends.

  • yeeh aw~I love it~can we get more down to earth music? time...Thanks guys~

  • Love the groove. Retro sound, but refreshed.

  • I love this and I also have a beard. I am also a big fan of Trey AND Neil. :)

  • i wanna grow mutton chops haha

but i like the whole 10 'O Clock shadow thing i got

    : )

  • @handicappeddoilookok It doesn't matter whats going on in the song. Its folk music, don't get your hopes up for much more man. Its about the music, and its good music. If you want your mind blown listen to some Phish. Yeah, Oberst doesn't play like Trey Anastasio, but that does not make him a shitty guitarist. I also have a beard.

  • I dont know why you said any of those things because you are way off. I didn't say anything like that. I could explain it but it isn't worth my time.

  • i have a beard :)

  • I have a mustache :)

  • i have a beard :)

  • I have a mustache :)

  • @ZillaZilla100 I also have a beard. :D

  • me too!

  • @ZillaZilla100 who the fuck cares. all men have beards. if you don't, you're not a man. no need to tell people if you have one.

  • @phadedlife lol sensitive issue for you huh.

  • @ZillaZilla100 i almost do :)

  • @ZillaZilla100 I don't :(

  • @ZillaZilla100 I don't have one :(

  • i think its a great video, we get to see everyone do their thing. all with sick beards.

    what more can you want.

an attempt to be artsy with actors and such?

  • couldn't they have all thrown in some money to make a better video

  • @thomasdashed U're kidding right?

  • When the Traveling Wilburys's got together, everybody thought the talent level was so extraordinary, that the music they'd create would be more amazing than words. It was great music, but it wasn't mindblowing by any means. Neither is this. BUT both are great albums, and the more you hear the MOF album, the more you can't help but admit, it's GREAT STUFF! Problem is, if you're a fan of any one of these guys, it's hard to accept an altered sound when they all mix their creativity. Same with TB.

  • Which member sings this song>

  • @TheDwgillis Jim James of my morning jacket

  • jim james

  • If it wasn't for Sally Fothergil I would never have known how brilliant Conor Oberst was heh

  • the voice is similar to John Lennon

  • sounds more like tom petty and bob dylan...

  • @TheOverheaters Tom Petty, for sure.

  • You mean Neil Young. Jim even admits that Neil Young's Harvest Moon was his inspiration to start MMJ.

  • @TheOverheaters

he sounds as much as bob dylan as.. er Madonna does..

  • These guys should stick together from now on. The chemistry is so good.

  • @banjotune22. nope. mmj eats MOF for lunch dinner and breakfast, every hour, every day of the week.

  • These dudes rock!!!!! Too much talent man, too much. The whole album is the shit

  • Album Was pretty good, Dont like slow down jo or man named truth. How does oberst write so many songs, has to be a world record for him in the future.... every year a new album

  • im loving conor's beard

  • One of my favorite songs of the album and my go-to song to include on compilations.

I know they have a problem with being compared to some similar sounding past acts (inevitable as it may be), but this song has a wonderful Byrds sound to it. Particularly the stuff they did with Gram Parsons.

  • I love watching Conor Oberst grow musically throughout the years : D

  • Comment removed

  • MMJ!!!

  • this is an amazing song!

  • brilliant.

  • Jim James lead vocals on this song....they switch around vocals and instruments throughout the album.

  • reminds me of roy orbison sometimes.

  • @RunyonGrn07

yeh, with a bit of chris hillman in there too...

  • If I could make an Indy group, it would be conor Oberst, Sam Beam from Iron and Wine and Emily Haines from Metric. Oh and Sufjan Stevens.

  • @thornslegacy2001 Who would've thought Monsters Of Folk would sound like Folk Music, am I right?

  • @hairloop27 Amy Millan?!

  • And very soon Tela de Araña !!! check it now!

  • You haven't heard this song until you have heard it live with JJ's wall shaking voice. I'm not kidding. The walls shook.

  • his voice has gotten stronger since his stage falling incident.

  • You guys getting together is just amazing

  • best "supergroup" since the dirty mac?

  • I imagine there aren't that many younger people who will know The Dirty Mac but they're definitely worth checking out. Well done.

  • you're wrong

  • Comment removed

  • ok i was tripping, i thought i was leaving a comment on the Temazcal video. i know i'm right there. Coner def sings it on the album.

  • Hi WDaWS, Who is doing the lead vocals? James is on keyboards,Ward is guitar/no beard, and Mogli is on pedal steel.I could be very wrong so if you can help, cool. U have a great day, Jack

  • Comment removed

  • ok correct me if i'm wrong but isn't Coner the lead vocalist of this song on the album ... i like this version just as much.

  • well, since this is the album version

  • Comment removed

  • this is the album version

  • I'm so glad this group came together,

I could never imagine not listening to their music,

    because it's absolutely amazing!

and the cool thing is that I actually listened

to My Morning Jacket, M. Ward and Bright Eyes

    before hearing about MOF.

this band is absolutely fantastic, and they're definitely one of the best supergroups EVER<3

  • Damn,we are a bunch of lucky SOB's.I don't know spit but my feeling is that these guys just got together to play their music and have fun. This is not a band as much as it is a collaberation.MOF is a musical comet, short of life but very bright. Many will miss this comet while we lucky ones have seats in the front row.

  • Can't believe I didn't go see these guys when they were in town. So good.

  • Saw this band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon when The Roots performed and I fell in love. Amazing music!

  • Seen them last night (from the first row btw) and it was AMAZING. Jim James is. . . I will finish that sentence when there's a word or phrase to properly describe exactly how awesome he is. Not saying M. Ward or Conor Oberst didn't blow my mind, but yeah Jim is THE man.

  • Was right behind you a couple rows, best show ever!! I'm a die hard Conor Oberst fan but will be investing in some My Morning Jacket tunes after this :)

  • Hmm, who is playing the drums? never see any drums in these videos. ????

  • i seriously cannot wait much longer. thank god they'll be in atl tomorrow!!!!! im long overdue for a reunion with yimmy...

  • Shades of Grateful dead, CSNY, and Travelling Willburys, without being the least bit derivitive. I have been waiting for a lovely new group like this for some time now. Bravo!

  • Reminds me of Gram Parsons. I can't say I got much into these guys in their respective groups.. But Monsters of Folk is genius. I fell in love with it the moment I started listening. Kudos to the musicians.

  • jpyker- U mentioned Gram Parsons. For me it was The Byrds-Sweetheart of The Rodeo. We were both on the same track.

  • Thats it! I couldnt place quite where.. Not quite FBB or his solo. Definitely Sweetheart of the Rodeo. Good call.

  • just saw them tonight they were so incredible

  • jim's voice is hauting live.......especially in massey hall

  • Two fuckin' thumbs up man. These guys kill it! I'm slightly irritated at having to miss the Phoenix show.

    Keep on keepin' on!

  • I guess I have been living under the proverbial rock because I have managed to completely miss these guys and they are absolutely excellent. How embarassing for me and what else have I missed?

  • God, I cannot get over how good this song is.

  • Kombucha! My favorite flavor is the Multi-green.

  • Met this band backstage at the Bridge School 2009 show at Shoreline Amphitheatre...Not only are these guys amazing artists...they are great people. My family and I appreciated their conversation and thank them from the bottom of our hearts for the kindness they showed us! Jim and Molly we thank you!!!!

  • Fav band!! all star team :D

  • the comment with "It's all about the music" was awesome, thanks for sharing

  • can not wait till i see em in PA. gonna be awsome!

  • Have a great show in PA. and let us know how it went.

  • not digging it

  • And you likely never will...

  • great comment my friend. you said a mouthfull with that.

  • A quick story - Last Sat. at the Oakland show, talking to a couple guys next to me.One guy asked-Who r u here for?Kinda like a wedding...R u with the grooms family or the brides family?Turned out I was with the Oberst side and he was with the Jacket side. Then he said my mantra-"It's all about the music" That made my nite--in the end-we were all there for the music.

  • blknothing,I don't understand the candle holding stuff and cavetunes is a funny guy.If you were not at the show then I must ask..whats your bitch?

  • I'm so confused by your confusion ...I WAS at the show, it was great. But, the MVB show on Aug 29 at The Mezz was even better, and the candle is held in love, respect, and to let it live on! I think we are both on team Conor! Who is cavetunes?

  • Blk ,It was not my confusion as much as my stupidity. You are right,it was a great show.I too think Conor is the best and lets leave it at that. OK?

  • I went to the Louisville show. I hate to say it, but it was prolly better than both. They came out in full Kiss gear and makeup after the intermission and rocked out I wanna rock and roll all night. Then they invited all the people up on costume to dance with the band. So much fun!

  • Ok, jealous! Any pix?

  • Conor sang a song at the show in Santa Barbara..never heard it before. Im trying to figure out what it was. Reminded me of Lua sorta. it was pretty damn magical.

  • good, but reminds me of some recordings of German folk songs from the 80s or 90s whose kitchiness still haunts me

  • just saw them in phoenix they were amazing

  • I can't wait to see them in New York City. <3

  • mmm hmm! Oakland CA show was great. Still holding a candle for that last MVB show, though. truely amazing.

  • I have to be honest...the MVB threw me and it took my adled mind a bit of time to put it together. All I can say is .. AMEN! However, cavetunes is still a generic ass .

  • fuck you cavetunes, with your generic annoying youtube hate comment.

  • much love and positive blessings to you cavetunes. loving people live in a loving world. Hostile, hateful people live in a hostile, hateful world. Same world. Love to you...

  • Rock and Roll- with Altcountry!

  • Jim James is amazing

  • anyone know what the chord progression is?

  • Judging from the video, there's only three: G, C, and D.

  • Just saw these guys in LA at the Greek Theatre. It was phenomenal. Their harmonies are fuckin OUTRAGEOUS!

  • Comment removed

  • Is that Conor Oberst with the beard and long hair?

  • great to hear your comments jaxtraw51 .. they describe everything i'm hoping to experience at their upcoming toronto show... can't wait!!!

  • paul-you won't be disappointed. If you are like me-you will be talking for days to people who have no idea who Monsters of Folk are.But that's OK. You will be back to normal in a week or so. HAVE A GREAT SHOW!

  • We just got home from MoF show at The Fox Theatre in Oakland,Ca. Simply put - it was 2 1/2hrs of being in the right place! The show was full band, solo's,duets, other duets, and a shit load of great music.
