  • where you using the kit lens the whole time for this shoot?

  • @Blackked0ut yes

  • How long does the battery last when in video mode?

  • the price is to mutch for a crop sensor camera.

  • Hey Blunty, Does the A77 make any hissing or what sounds like a moving stream in the background when filming in a silent area? If it does, have you tried an external mic and did it solve the issue? I only ask because i am interested in moving up from my A55 which overheats and makes this horrible hiss sound in silent areas and an external Mic only made it worse. Thank you

  • @Kasirkin29 I experienced no unexpected issues with the audio, regardless of source.... this is why I made no mention of such a thing thought the whole review. -_-

  • - STANDARD HOTSHOE disappeared from sony cams since minolta. i raged a little opening the box of my a55

    - lithium W batteries instead of M, pointless change of format for the same power.

    - the translucent mirror collects dust just like a hoe collects stds.

  • What are its weakness in video mode ?

  • Is the 16-50 weather sealed?

  • @crockerfilm yes it is.

  • Can totally vouch for the in camera effects, high contrast monochrome is...amazing...really hard to recreate the look it gives in post, works a treat :D

  • Hey Blunty, Great video, It was amazing. you truly inspired me, and i was thinking for my first dslr what should i get at a low price if possible?

  • I literally ordered this camera a half hour ago from B&H! Can't wait for it to get here!

  • @123BigRob123 Always amused when I spot someone watching my reviews not in order to assist in coming to a decision, but so as to "validate" their existing purchasing decisions ;P

  • @Blunty3000 Here's another version: Your review of the Nikon V1 inspired me to buy one myself and after I did, I watched the review over and over again to validate the decision anyway ;-)

  • The hot shoe I admit is really stupid, BUT I bought a $15 adapter and can use after market stuff again.

  • Great review. haha but I am not going to upgrade my 1 year old A55 until it is dead :)

  • Thank you blunty! This made up my mind on which camera to get next, it's video performance is what I am looking for.

  • I have one and its worth every dime.

  • a clip, a little, tilt, swivel, spin, turn, flip-flop, hinged, thingy

  • Excellent, informative review.Makes you want to rush out and buy one.Thank you.

  • For the body only price of $1500, it's wayyy out of my range :(. I'm waiting for the new version of the a55 to come out.

  • nice vid dude i think i buy one is sooo fantasticccc LOL

  • i was just wondering what lenses did you use for the photos? was it just the 16-50mm? and would you suggest buying this camera as a step up from the sony A550?

  • Great review

  • its super sick but its a sony

  • there's a firmware update to fix the slight delay.

  • Awesome pics Blunty! The A77 looks incredible... can't wait to purchase it!

  • there you are 1:33

  • Great review

  • 8:20. Serious business.

  • Comment removed

  • The only two reasons I would not by this camera are 1 I have Nikon lenses 2 I don't like evf's for the rest it's a superb camera I would love to shoot with it!

  • I WANT ONE

  • woah....sold.....you surely convince buyers, coz u definitely convinced me.

  • The FPS may be fast but doesn't that make the buffer fill a lot quicker

  • What camera did you record this with? I saw it in the reflection.

  • whats a hot shoot?

  • You did a such a great job that I cried two times! First, when I saw awesome pictures and AF in video and second, when I saw the price. I like Sony, own one (a560). Sony AF is fastest of all Cameras and that, often, what we need - the moment. What lens did you use, when you were filming this video?

  • Great review. Incredibly informative, and well put together. Thanks for taking the time to do this!

  • This really makes for a great contender for my next camera, but as you mentioned, the non standard hotshoe and looking for compatible glass does make another Canon DSLR a much easier choice as I already have a variety of lens kits to choose from. Amazing review and a very amazing camera. I never considered Sony until now as they (among most all Sony products) were not Mac friendly.

  • Great review mate

  • I'm getting mine at the end of the month can't wait.

  • way to show a camera review with humour

  • Anyone have 2 grand I can borrow? >.<

  • Now if only I could use my Canon lenses on this...without that its just not worth switching.

  • IDK WHY I WATCHED THIS....... its only making m more impatient! :'( i preordered mine 3 weeks ago! can't wait!

    Great review :)

  • Great camera & great review.

  • Kicks the hell out of any Nikon or Canon in terms of focusing during video. Damn Canikon can't get the movie mode right, it's just not their thing :)

Since I hardly ever record videos, I'll stick with my D7000 and see through a REAL viewfinder

  • @Aragiss I'm in Pentax-land so I look at Canikon in awe when it comes to video. If you tried Pentax in videomode you would see what I mean. Otherwise I love my K-5!

  • @visualdarkness Great body, K-5 :)

  • @Aragiss hahah REAL viewfinder? so you also never edit a REAL picture. I take it you take all your pictures with a REAL FILM camera then? Do you have a REAL TV also? Someone doesn't like change. I have met photographers like you who think that 'this is how its done' its a load of rubbish, you are using technology to create a picture, manipulation happens the second you change ANY setting on a camera. EVF is just more. So who sets the limit of image manipulation? NOT YOU

  • @BARRINGTON2000 Clearly you know sweet dick all about photography champ... Thnaks for the LOLs as you try to act like you know what you're on abut though.... The reason SOME photographers prefer an optical viewfinder has NOTHING to do with "image manipulation", but is an issue of the physics of EVF's V's TTL Optical. You don't even understand WHY people make the choice for one over the other... So step down of your high-horse, it's legs are made of cheese and you're a twit.

  • @Blunty3000 is that why then prefer OVF ? How comes you know and I dont then? Do you know me? NO. You made a video review pal, doesnt make you know anymore than me does it? No it doesnt. So you get off your high horse and realise people will have opinions. I have an A77 and love it however I dont speak for everyone. I responded to a silly point made about EVF. Most who complain about EVF, mention 'its not REAL its a manipulated screen'. If you read different find a different way to put it acros

  • @BARRINGTON2000 You don't have to be such a bitch because you have an a77 and someone criticizes it for some reason. OVF has its pros and cons and for my preference, the cons (such as the slight lags and inferior dynamic range) are too important to ignore.

  • @Aragiss 1) a bitch? I think you will find your first comment that I replied to was regarding EVF - your back tracking. 2) I responded in a general manner regarding EVF as a whole..challenging your comment saying its not a REAL VF. Of course there was sarcasm as you made a statement that simply was inaccurate rather than gave an opinion. This 'blunty' guy is the one who is being a bit bitchy if you read the below comments

  • Ok, I'll give you that. I've just seen too many videos about it that seem to think there's absolutely no solution. Great video, by the way.

  • FlashZebra hotshoe adapter for under $20. Problem solved.

  • @MikeUptonWrites1 Problem addressed, not solved. The problem is that you have to buy such adapters to use something with a 'standard' hot-shoe in the camera, AT ALL, in the first place.

  • Great review as always, Blunty!

Damn, this is one sweet camera. You really did a good job showing off what it can do. Though I guess with photography being a passion of yours that sort of a given. ^.^

  • Man, I can't wait to buy an A77 of my own, and now you've just made me even more excited about it! Very nice review, as always!

  • you should do more picture montages, i love them!

  • You should've showed the panorama view thingy

  • those were untouched? impressive.

  • price?

  • @HaZeLWing05 Depends, ever heard of google? Takes about 12 seconds.

  • I love the pictures of 7:42 and 8:35 I think. good work.I don't want to annoy anyone but can you recommend any cameras for beginners like me?

  • haha, relax, i was just kidding :), excellent video though :)

  • Terrific review, like all [well almost all ^^ ] your work [which I've watched a lot of] you did an astounding job at making things upbeat and pretty interesting. Glad you enjoyed the A77, I know I do.

  • Oh wow, this is an amazing camera. Sony really know what they're doing here.

  • Frikin brilliant camera, great review as always!

  • Have you used the Nikon D5100? I'm wondering how it compares to the Canon t3i or the Sony a35.

  • blunty everytime i see someone troll you, you just totally shut them down, very nice.

  • @MrEektrolyte that's because it IS in Australia -_-

  • I don't understand, why there is a limit of 30 min? Is it 30 min per continuous recording or per media or what exactly? Is it a max media capacity issue?

Great review and it does look like a great camera to own.

  • @Trusteft per continous recording, anything above 29 minutes is considered camcorder and companies want their DSLR/T be classified as not a camcorder since the companies are charged higher taxes for camcorder products, i think this is in europe

  • 12fps thing isn't too amazing tbh. most if not all cameras nowadays have a quick shoot mode. It will fill up your memory card in no time and is a pain to delete the pictures you don't want. a bit of a gimmick as most people will only use the feature once a year at most.

  • @x19710 most people who are going to buy this camera are PROFESSIONALS! that means people who take pictures for sports or something else where there are no do overs so the quicksnap is handy for situations like that

  • @x19710 To be perfectly fair if you're dropping the kind of change on a piece of equipment like this chances are you're either an extreme hobbyist or you're a professional. This is essentially the "And the kitchen sink" style job, from what it seems, everything and anything that could be used went in.

  • heythats look likes australia!

  • It's too expensive of a camera to have bad iso and low light video. 7d you can now for the same price but better

  • ........you really want me to give Sony more money...I already bought the HDR-CX700V because of your review....now you have me not only wanting to drop another 2+ grand on the NEX-VG20, but another grand easily on this too. Damn you Blunty, great work as always

  • CORRECTION, make that another 2200 on this one.....bloody hell....

  • Dude, make more review, i like your style of review, but I have to correct, that the shutter speed range is 1/8000 to 30s

  • Comment removed

  • Low light footage looks great!

  • Wish my Canon Powershot could take nice pictures like that but nope its a piece of shit considering i paid $500 for it 2 years back and it was suppose to be the best in compact point in shoots.. i also need to really learn how to use full manual modes in camera's because i get frustrated with myself when i need to fiddle around to get the right picture haha

  • hey blunty, What's your favorite DSLR lens? ( not the lens you typically need everytime, just the one you adore )

  • Good review Blunty! The A77 is an interesting camera with new tech for the future. How is the viewfinder in your eyes? I tried a Sony (A33) when buying my first DSLR some time ago but I couldn't use it as I kept on seeing the dreaded rainbow-effect in the electronic viewfinder.

Also just five minutes with the camera gave me a temporary bruise on the upper side left index finger due to the grip putting too much weight on a small spot when I held it.

Without the issues I could have gone Sony.

  • Im no photographer but i still love these videos just cause the video is nice and you have a nice voice too

  • @lemurgreen Umm yeah... Because the vita was supposed to be a super High Definition 1000+ dollar camera and not a gaming device. The camera on the vita isn't bad for s gaming device. You're dumb.

  • I hate large cameras you always have to hold them in some weird way when you take a picture or you will press a button and fuc kshit up and then you miss the moment....

  • @EVLG I never ever accidentally push a button when holding the camera or taking a photo with my Pentax K-7. You simply haven't found a camera with the right ergonomics for you.

The biggest mistake I did earlier was holding the camera like a steering wheel when it's much better to hold your left hand under the camera gripping the lens.

  • For such a positive and through review, Sony should be paying YOU.

  • Is this good enough to be used in stop-motion animations?

  • It's funny that sony can make such a great camera but they can't put a good camera on the vita.

  • @lemurgreen Yeah, because you can really compare a $1500 DSLR with a $249 gaming console. (Prices taken out of thin air)

  • @GustavNils I'm not saying to put a camera this powerfull in the vita. What I'm saying is that if they have this awesome tech why is the vita's camera worse than the iphones?

  • @lemurgreen Because it costs like a third of an iphone?

  • @lemurgreen Sony is a very big company. Like VERY big. Different parts of these giant companies tend to have nothing to do with each other. Their camera department does their thing, and their gaming console department does stuff like the Vita.

  • SOLD

  • This camera looks insanely good! One question though; does it have any slowmotion modes when filming? I would love if it could film in, say, 200fps, with reduced resolution.

  • How can someone say ''poop in your cereal'' and sound professional?

  • can you do a review on the Nikon D4 when it comes out? If money is not a problem.

  • Just outta curiosity, when'd you go out to take the photos and videos with this camera?

  • Lol A-Male!

  • @survivorproject That's not the letter A, it is the alpha symbol. "alpha male".

  • 8:21 Those are some very beautiful pictures considering you were just getting used to the interface.

  • So what side are you?SONY,CANON,NIKON?USER

  • @eizlez I don't take "sides". Being blindly brand-loyal is retarded. I use what works for me at any given moment.

  • @Blunty3000 well what works for you right now :P

  • @Blunty3000 Really? I find it retarded to buy three identical $900 lenses just to be able to use Sony, Canon or Nikon-cameras whenever I see fit.

  • @Kebbe666 Would you like a telescope so you can see the point you just missed... it's a LONG way from where you are.

  • Hey! which camera do you prefer or better? sony a65 or canon 600d.

because a love shooting video and i need a camera that has AF in video mode that actually work? which has a great Quality in video mode?

  • yes it suck..

  • No standard shoe ? WTF Sony.

  • @toocoolforu Sony doesn't use a standard anything, that's why the majority of photographers use Canon/Nikon regardless of how far behind their bodies/software are. Lenses and other equipment are way cheaper and easier to find for the latter two.

  • subscribed. cheers.

  • 5:18 Muppet!

  • Thanks for the review Blunty. Sounds like a nice camera to buy and make good use of.

Is there a maximum allowable time for video recording (a la canon)?

  • @EpicBusinessTools Just under 30 minutes

  • @Blunty3000 easy to work around for a long shoot :)

  • If only i had the money

  • Is the image similar to the new Sony NEX-VG20?

  • I saw you interview with Doug Jones the "rubber make up guy" and I think is one of his best interviews.

  • Can U write my English essays?

  • @cheesybro1 No, but here's a tip; it's "you" not "U". You're going to fail and fail hard.

  • @Blunty3000 What a magnificent way to shatter his confidence!

    Way to go blunty -_-"

    AHAHAHHAHAHAH :P

  • @Dcavolli What a magnificent way to act smart on the internet.

  • hey.. nice video.. am interested in a65... can you tell me is only 70% light going to sensor a issue?? does this somehow affects the picture quality or colour of pictures?? i mean red is less red and blue is less blue.. cose of 30% going waste....

  • @TheKaranverma15 nope thats not true! he difference is only 1/3 ev stop because of the translucent mirror! shouldnt concern you!

  • @TheKaranverma15 Whoever the moron is who told you that "only 70% light going to sensor" is very, VERY stupid, and very VERY full of shit. The difference the translucent Mirror makes is less than ~one third of a stop (NOT one third total, one third of a single stop - if you don't know the difference, you should NOT own a camera like this, you're wasting it) and which given the performance of the Exmor sensor is next to negligible anyway.

  • I am so glad you didn't even touch of the 'Ergghh It's not even a real DSLR' comment -.-

SLT's are the way forward in my honest opinion - I may have to do my research but I believe they also allow cont. phase detection to be possible; which is a huge bonus.

  • Great video, lovely photos too :)

  • £980, owch! Looks absolutely worth it though.

  • At the end of every blunty video, i love to scroll down and read all the sarcastic comments he leaves :D.

  • I am selling my 550D and getting this!!!

  • OHMYGOD this is amazing----but too much for my budget :'(

  • Oh my god. Australia is beautiful!

  • It does suck then

  • great review Blunty. how much would this set me back $AUD?

  • god damn blunty they are some sexy photos :) i think i have found my new xmas present

  • i'm hopefully buying the camera just below this in the range, (the a55)

  • Haha, now if only they could put this camera into the Vita!

  • How much and wheres the best place to buy??

  • hey blunty what sort of camera would you recommend to a beginner photographer?

  • Are you able to drop the Megapixels to increase the FPS?

  • @TheKRNG Nope... but then again if you need more than 12fps, but don't need full res, why not just go to video mode at that point.

  • 5:20 LOL

  • EXIA!

  • damn you should make an online album and put all the awesome pics in it cause these simple one look awesome imaging if you really try(if your not ''drunk'')

  • @22japhy You mean EXACTLY like the album that's linked in the description? yeah... if only I had thought of that -_- *facepalm*

  • @Blunty3000 yes but i mean with all the pictures you take not just this review -__-*double facepalm*

  • @Blunty3000 Blunty3000, You're my role model, I Love you. :D

  • what about perks in Nikon 1?

  • How would you say the electronic viewfinder compares to the natural view in DSLRs?

And do you get all the same things in the electronic viewfinder as on the swivelling screen? Focus peaking etc.

  • lol

  • what do you do with all the cameras you review? surely you must have too many to use by now!

  • @slimeytilley This was a borrowed review unit... after my time with it I sent it back to Sony's PR people for them to send it on to the next reviewer/journo/blogger/whatev...

  • I wish I could live in Sydney, beautiful looking cities, and wildlife.

  • So, would you say it's the best camera you have used thus far?

  • Probably the ugliest DSLR ever made.

  • lol in my dads taxi 2 italian guys forgot to bring their camera to the airport and they didn't put their name on the bag so now i got a beautiful 18mp (i know not 24 beautiful) camera with full hd. it's called the canon 550d. Btw before the canon i had a digital 10 mp camera to try photography and u influenced me to

  • @nick2kewl4u So your Dad didn't turn in the lost property to the cops, or even to the airline? Your dad is a SCUMBAG THEIF and "your" camera is stolen property. Fucking scuzball Taxyfucks.

  • @Blunty3000 Very well said.

  • @Blunty3000 DUDE my dad found it in his taxi AT THE END OF THE FUCKIN DAY!

  • @nick2kewl4u he could still turn it in you retard.

  • @nick2kewl4u That doesn't mean it's automatically OK to steal other people's property you little cunt.

  • @Blunty3000 its not "STEALING" he waited 2 weeks if anyone would call the taxi service and reported a missing camera

  • @nick2kewl4u Don't try and defend it. You and dad are scum. Your dad did steal. He could've turned it in

  • @Blunty3000 LOOOOOOOOL

  • @nick2kewl4u your dad is scum for taking it, and your scum for using it. No matter how stupidly you try and defend it, that is not your camera. I hope karma hits you like a fucking truck one day, your pathetic.

  • @nick2kewl4u Thats not cool.
