  • thanks for showing.....i watched this whole movie after thinking of buying it off amazon----but paramount has made enough millions, so i got to see it for free.

  • Have to admit trekkers are very creative

  • star trek has a pro-diversity, pro-feminist, pro-globalist message?

  • So they want a utopian socialist society?

  • the guy at 1:36 is the most awkward guy filmed on television

  • @yodathedeathshadow that guy cracks me up! he looks like he's at his last straw with the weirdo goin to his store! hahaha

  • holy shit an era when radio shack had electronic components and wasn't just best buy.

  • these people are crazy !!!! thats the bottom line

  • Those were my 15 minutes at 7:37.

  • @dfri729 awesome!! :-)

  • @dfri729 You were the only one who mentioned the prime directive. I agree with your comments. The question humans always ask is "how best to live our lives?". Star Trek invites us to consider a better future. It shows us how much we can grow as a race. It starts within each person. x

  • While I think this is a very well-made film, it's unfair on a certain level. Call it a "mock-YOU-mentary." The filmmakers do not editorialize about the Trekkies, but they know a lot of viewers will find the Trekkies, their behavior, and their appearance ridiculous. Through editing and simply letting the subjects ramble, the Trekkies are depicted as odd, socially inept, etc. I think there is some balance in the film but it's also subversive in many ways.

  • @chaddvanzanten Yea thats why its so funny

  • @chaddvanzanten I see what you mean, but I slightly disagree. I think this documentary just portrays the fans as they are. If some come off as odd and socially-inept, they only have themselves to blame. I laugh a bit during some of these interviews, but I also understand these people. What I enjoy about this film is that it is respectful of the phenomenon, and I feel it's message is to celebrate being yourself in spite of eccentricities!

  • @chaddvanzanten

I don't know that I agree. I have to watch this movie for a class, I'm not interested in Star Trek whatsoever, and I think a lot of these people are freaking weird. But from an outside perspective, all I see are people who are happy, and proud to do something that means the world to them. I think to say that this movie DEPICTS them as odd is to say that you're a bit ashamed of your behavior. The movie depicts them for who they are, and people have to develop their own opinion.

  • @TheSaturnWolf The process of choosing what subjects (characters) and dialog to include in a film like this is not 100% objective--if anything, it will skew toward the odd, because odd is more interesting than normal. Including the wig guy, for example, skews the whole film (and all the subjects) toward the weird side. It's a hilarious scene, but that choice jaundices the rest of the film. I know lots of trekkies--none would ever do some of the extreme things shown in this film.

  • the dude in the background at 6:40 is like "who's gay!?"

  • Yep, that's radio shack all right. Their employees are as clueless as those in best buy.

  • That store workie has no Idea what he is talking about

  • Thanks for uploading this, one of my favorite documentaries.

  • It's amazing how so many diverse people, from all over the world, no matter what their religious beliefs, political views, or personal lives are like, can come together and talk Star Trek together. Makes me proud to be a Trekkie! -3
