ei man this is insane i love this cars since i have7 years i remember that i was playing soccer and my ball goes under a maverick and i say inside my head this car would be look nice if exsist in 2 doors and later i see one with two doors and i go crazy im form mexico i go to usa and i never see a mav so i bought a civic a f150 and a mustang dude i came back to mexico and probably for friday i have the car of my dreams regards and keep going with that monster project and paint it black =)
my i inquire s to why there is a 3rd gen camaro sitting outside the garage door ? that viper's engine is gonna scare a whole lotta people when they hear that a commin'
Hay I am also doing a vip v-10 swap, what did you use for computer, harness, etc. I have the stock pc, and engine harness, but assume I will need some aftermarket stuff for it to stand alone?
I love odd engine swap projects, I have done a few so far, and yours looks great!
ah wow! get a blower! this car is going to be completely sick! I love it! at hara's car collection in reno there is a jeep grand Cherokee with a Ferrari v-12 in it, they had to stretch the nose a foot to make it fit!
@fredski53 Dude, that was my first choice. After scouring craigslist and trying to get the parts/weight/horsepower things right...I found this Viper motor/computer/transmission for less than half what I would spend on the Triton motor alone tuned to 600 hp. And this thing is an all aluminum monster that has 525 c.i. for the same weight of a Ford Cleveland block! This car is a freak show for sure, but it is going to be a freak show that hauls.
Absoltuley awsome!!!!! I just sent you my response of my 71 maverick I was restoring in the late 80's. Sure miss it. Was planning on a blower for it but as far as I got was the hood scoop.
I'm one of those guys that loves a sleeper car. I would put any stripes on it unles its a pin stripe down the body to follow the lines. I had rally stripes on cars even a lot of the cars that had them on from the factory. Mavric had some great looking color combos. My uncle had a white and orange one back in the day. I cant remember the way the combo was but it sticks out to me. This is going to be a crazy fun car when done.
My dad had a '75 Mav., so I understand you wanting this as a base. I would paint it black, with subtle dark blue viper-like striping and have on the fenders "something wicked this way comes" :) Love it so far...
do a strait up paint job nothing cheesy like flames and crap stick with a racing stripes or maybe some side stripes theres a website you can go and design your custom paint jobs and see what they would look like on your car before you do it your self
I'm a guy who likes to see a ford, stay a ford, but in this case, the car is a vast improvement in every way. great job on your one of a Kind Mav, going to be quite the screamer.
thats amazing :O. love the story behind it too, i also drive a maverick, a 71 grabber my dad bought for me when i was 8 years old, its got p/s, p/b, a/c, deluxe interior, the grabber package, C4 auto, all mated to a 250 i6. im planning on building the six as opossed to dropping the usual 302 into it...still great car weather its 6 shooter or V10 powered :D
First of all this maverick is incredible and for the paint job, mavericks look great in any color except for black but i'm gonna have to say that a crazy lime green will be perfect for this car.... me and my dad are building a 1970 maverick grabber clone but with a newer T5 transmission cant wait for the test drive video
why would you put a V10? its a ford not a dodge, no disrespect but you should put a ford V8 engine!! sorry but you ruined this cars originality.... thumbs down.
My first car was a '72 maverick I got from a friend with a straight 6. My pop's and I dropped in a 514ci big block after swapping to mustang II front end and cutting out the shock towers. B&M C6 9" rear end 4 linked tubbed and caged. Bench seat and column shift stayed. Got banned from the local track first time out for going too fast with no neck brace or proper restraints. I miss that car.
as long as you dont make it split pea soup baby puke green lol! i would prolly go that same color light blue pearl becaue anything to bold would take away from from the sleeper look and silver is over down were the light blue is sublte and clean
Nice job on the Mav. really quality craftsmanship. Don't forget to limo tint hte windows (to hide the cage). Install a single dummy 1 3/4" tailpipe and route some exhaust gas through it for effect. While utilizing the raised floor to hide the dual 3" dumps with. It will be sleeper game over once you start her up though. I personally love the "Reef Blue Metallic of the '93 Mustang.
I have been told them motors put off TONS of heat. So much so, that wearing shorts in a viper on a hot day can make you extemely hot. Granted the cab volume is now different. I would suggest a well vented engine bay. Maybe kevlar padding or the engine bay liner you can use. Looks GREAT man, vipers are mean on a strait stretch and there wont be too many vehicles at a track without forced induction that will be able to keep up with your tailights man!! Enjoy finishing it!!
@ autoedit. Thank you so much for replying and for the information on installing the Viper V10 into another vehicle. There are also O2 simulators that you could use instead of the rear O2 sensors that I saw. You have helped me out a lot. I will purchase a tech manual. I think your car is so cool. I have been thinking of another car for my project, but I gotta get something cheap like you did. I plan on doing a 3 or 4 link rear suspension in my project. Who would be able to flash the ecu?
@triumph09ful The first thing is to have the computer "flashed" so the anti-theft stuff is turned off and the ECU system is set up to run 4 O2 sensors...2 in front of the catalytic converters and 2 behind...Since I'm not running cats...I'm just using the front sensors. Then it's pretty simple...power and a few relays so you don't melt any wires...I bought a (Gen3) Viper tech. manual on ebay and it's been great, a must spend $40 for your project! Good luck let us know...
Cool that you're leaving the outside pretty well stock. Mavericks can be a great looking car if fixed up properly. I am currently re-doing my 70 Maverick I had in high school...but it's pretty well stock. Can't wait to see updates on this one!
Your 4 link is not setup correctly. If u made an imaginary line continuing off the bars they should intersect @ the spindles theyre at way to steep if an angle instead they will try to pick weight from the middle of the car not the front. So it will not transfer weight correctly it will work just not very well
@big440dart Great observation, but this is not a drag car. For road racing, which I'm building this car for, I've had very good experience with the bars intersecting at the center of gravity of the car. Similar theory to that of a Truck Arm set up in a NASCAR Cup car, the trailing arms pivot at the GOG of the vehicle. This allows better axle articulation during side loading which shouldn't be an issue in a drag car but does sacrifice weight transfer during hard launches so it's a trade off.
I had a 1969 Ford Maverick with a High performance 289, a 9" with 390 gears and was running about 11.90's on a 1/4 mile. I thought my Mav was awesome but from what I have seen you create has left me speachless...keep up the great work and can't wait to see your Maverick done. Its funny cause my license plate read "CRAZY MAV" But your Mav should have this plate on it!
This is an unreall Mav! My first car was a Maverick. I love Maverick's and always will. What you have done with this car is unreal!!!! Please keep me posted I really want to see this mean machine. Mu buddies even called me Maverick. Please! Keep me posted! !!
i also have a 1970 maverick in the works right now,, i was only able to afford a 289 but its all good,, maybe someday ill be able to afford a 302 crate engine,, but what u have started with our maverick is amazing,, it blew my mind
@crushkrew Work has slowed to a stop right now due to lack of funding and to make matters worse a rat filled the intake manifold with dog food! I'll try to get an update video next week or so...totally crazy.
@autoedit that is crazy!!...and brother do I know what you mean...stripped all the elec, fuel, susp, etc from my 55 about 8 months ago and have just been to busy to get to it...nice little SBC 427 with hillborn 8 stack efi just sitting in garage taunting me!!!...good luck and I will keep an eye out for updates...J
that´s an awesome job you´re doing there! congratulations! I sent this video to several friends who, like me, own a maverick, and they´re simply astonished with your achievement! Can´t wait to see this beast on a run! Cheers all the way from Brazil.
@autoedit Here in Brazil the Maverick nowadays is one of the most desired cars from the 70´s!!! It was produced here from 1973 to 1979! I have two of them, both 1975 coupes wtih the 302 V8 engine, one is red and the other one yellow... I love them. Btw, how´s your Mav going? Already running? Cheers
Awesome job and nice vids! The quality is getting better and better! What kind of rims do you have on it? I was thinking they'd look good on my '69 Dart...
@PheelACCD They are the American Racing wheels...I liked them because they were kind of cheap and I could custom order the 5 3/4" offset in the back for that deep dish!
-____- ur imagination is amazing sick ass 1970 maverick u have .I'm a proud owner of a maverick my self but I don't have the skills or the money to make mine a beast i can't wait till I see u finish it
Awesome. a 302 is a tight fit in a maverick. granted yours is highly modded but a V10 is insane. suggestion: if you want to keep the sleeper aspect but add some badging i suggest a VERY small V10 badge. possibly on the grill. it needs to be one of those things that when people see it they think "no way." then you can pop the hood. post updates and go scare some old men in corvettes.
wow,,,,thats awesum....! thats thing is gonna be sooooo bitchin when you get it done...i just dig that you did a maverick instead of a mustang, camaro, chevelle, nova, cuda, charger, and all those,, see all the time,,over rated type cars,,,,,man i wish you were my best friend,,,so you could help me do my maverick,,,well keep up the good work,,,cant wait to see it finished,,,,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not much of a Ford or Mopar guy, but dude this is going to be SICK - awesome man! I see that you'll be rockin' the Wilwoods all the way around too, nice. Looking forward to the finished project.
neither am i big fan of dodge or ford. but man i understand what your doing and i absolutely love it. i hope everything works out great for you. awesome build. period
sweet, im not big on mixed make engine swaps unless its a chev going into anything but i really think thats an awesome combo, and its alot better choice than the ford v10 cause there junk in my book, ford made some of the best motors in the world but the triton series was a failure in my book, though the 4.6 is a great motor. I bet your car comes out ridiculously awesome. I also think the factory silver that you had on your first car would be the best choice, a way to remember your grandpa.
Hello there! As i may speak, Paint: Mat/faint black, or a deep murcielago orange with flakes.. for the rims something with deep dish edge from ATS :) and there you go awesome car ;)
DUDE! That is a COOL CAR! My parents had several Mavericks when i was a kid including a couple grabbers so i have always kind of thought they were under rated as a potential muscle car. I really like the Shelby tail light idea even though you decided not to do it. I like the different choice of powertrain too! I tend to try to think up different ideas too. I would like to see a 3800 supercharged used in an early 60's nova or a early 70's vega for instance :)
Dude epic project I have been toying with a maverick on paper for a while mad props on getting the engine set back before you carpet the car think about line-x as sound deadener works great and gives a non slip if you desire no carpets as for a color id offer two options my car when I get to it will I be ultrasonic blue mica metallic yours how ever is in part paying homage to your grandpas car so id shoot it with a black marble base then a frosted blue silver rendering an aged yet clean look
@autoedit I am not trying to be a dick but you say a ford guy and you uses a V-10 from a Dodge? Why not use a K20 with twin turbos if we are going with crazy swaps. /watch?v=QC9TtzDahRE I mean you love Ford but not there power trains? If it were Me i would have got my hands on a Kenny Belly charged 03-04 Cobra 4.6l V8. /watch?v=2lQX3cOAbes Still a good project.
@super00su Damn dude, he just bitch slapped you with his royal hot rodding cock. Now I got even more respect him haha (And the ken bell charged 4.6, SOO overrated)
@super00su Damn dude, he just bitch slapped you with his royal hot rodding cock. Now I got even more respect him haha (And the ken bell charged 4.6, SOO overrated)
If I were you I'd either paint it the original colours of your old one, or Aggresively style it, and have a cherry red with white stripe, V10 powered maverick ;)
@autoedit hmm, crinkle black is too common, if you are doing a v10 maverick you need something weird and original to suit the car... Chalkboard paint with the current hp/tq numbers scribbled on? then you can also change the design as you see fit, and have automotive celebs sign your valve covers
@autoedit not a problem, definitley want to see the end results.
sure makes me wish i had dropped the cash in '98 for a wrecked, low mileage '96 roadster. problem is, now everyone & their cousin drops that driveline in their Mopars. (a few Chevy & Blue Oval guys too!)
This is Sam Young man. The 360 vid is of the friend I told you about on the hot rod shoot....remember the guy that kept flying off the track:) I'm in the passenger seat instructing.
wickedly awesome! love it! cant wait to hear her roar! will check back for updates. wonderful job so far man! keep up the great work.

that´s an awesome job you´re doing there! congratulations! I sent this video to several friends who, like me, own a maverick, and they´re simply astonished with your achievement! Can´t wait to see this beast on a run! Cheers all the way from Brazil.
Guto302V8 5 months ago
@Guto302V8 You guys in Brazil get these cars...love the culture over there! Thanks for checking it out, friend!
autoedit 5 months ago
@autoedit Here in Brazil the Maverick nowadays is one of the most desired cars from the 70´s!!! It was produced here from 1973 to 1979! I have two of them, both 1975 coupes wtih the 302 V8 engine, one is red and the other one yellow... I love them. Btw, how´s your Mav going? Already running? Cheers
Guto302V8 4 months ago
Do you have a video with the engine running???
007Knightjp 5 months ago
@007Knightjp Not yet...about $1500 away from that and it seems far away right now...we'll see.
autoedit 5 months ago
I would like to know what is the current status of the project.. Awesome choice of the engine... :)
If you haven't painted it yet, don't paint it red or black or anything... You want it looking like a sleeper... so, paint it some boring 70s color...
That should knock the socks off anyone....

@PheelACCD They are the American Racing wheels...I liked them because they were kind of cheap and I could custom order the 5 3/4" offset in the back for that deep dish!

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK I LIKE IT.
MOE5152 6 months ago
Awesome. a 302 is a tight fit in a maverick. granted yours is highly modded but a V10 is insane. suggestion: if you want to keep the sleeper aspect but add some badging i suggest a VERY small V10 badge. possibly on the grill. it needs to be one of those things that when people see it they think "no way." then you can pop the hood. post updates and go scare some old men in corvettes.
simpsonfan13 6 months ago 20
@simpsonfan13 I love the subtle V10 logo idea...pretty sure that will happen, thanks!

audiomasterk91 6 months ago
@audiomasterk91 Thanks for the pass...not everyone can appreciate the combo and it just kind of happened this way.
autoedit 6 months ago
sweet, im not big on mixed make engine swaps unless its a chev going into anything but i really think thats an awesome combo, and its alot better choice than the ford v10 cause there junk in my book, ford made some of the best motors in the world but the triton series was a failure in my book, though the 4.6 is a great motor. I bet your car comes out ridiculously awesome. I also think the factory silver that you had on your first car would be the best choice, a way to remember your grandpa.

Comrick317 7 months ago 3
Hello there! As i may speak, Paint: Mat/faint black, or a deep murcielago orange with flakes.. for the rims something with deep dish edge from ATS :) and there you go awesome car ;)
LuckySyke 7 months ago 3
I would like to see a 3800 supercharged used in an early 60's nova or a early 70's vega for instance :)
yardtechbrando 7 months ago 3
Dude epic project I have been toying with a maverick on paper for a while mad props on getting the engine set back before you carpet the car think about line-x as sound deadener works great and gives a non slip if you desire no carpets as for a color id offer two options my car when I get to it will I be ultrasonic blue mica metallic yours how ever is in part paying homage to your grandpas car so id shoot it with a black marble base then a frosted blue silver rendering an aged yet clean look

@DEADTORIGHTSRACING Thanks for the tip and WOW...you have a great vision on the paint stuff...we'll see what happens!!!
autoedit 7 months ago
@autoedit I am not trying to be a dick but you say a ford guy and you uses a V-10 from a Dodge? Why not use a K20 with twin turbos if we are going with crazy swaps. /watch?v=QC9TtzDahRE I mean you love Ford but not there power trains? If it were Me i would have got my hands on a Kenny Belly charged 03-04 Cobra 4.6l V8. /watch?v=2lQX3cOAbes Still a good project.

@super00su Theyre both american, why does it matter?
melvinhedrick 6 months ago
@melvinhedrick I just want to know his Logic.
super00su 6 months ago
@super00su Like he said he wanted to make something that nobody had seen before, and any v10 made by ford was nowhere near high performance.
melvinhedrick 6 months ago
@melvinhedrick The Dodge V-10 thing has been done someone should do the Turbo Duratec, Like this car => /watch?v=s1Zk4VCEgvo

thats one sick ride my freind! :P
If I were you I'd either paint it the original colours of your old one, or Aggresively style it, and have a cherry red with white stripe, V10 powered maverick ;)

Now that is different, but nice. This is why I love this hobby for you do what your heart desires.

Shorty111R 7 months ago 2
Very nice project, a sleeper indeed!
But I think the valve covers need to say something other than viper, or just smoothed out...
holmd90 7 months ago
@holmd90 Yep...good call...Haven't figured exactly what but how about machine the Viper off and crinkle black paint?
autoedit 7 months ago
@autoedit hmm, crinkle black is too common, if you are doing a v10 maverick you need something weird and original to suit the car... Chalkboard paint with the current hp/tq numbers scribbled on? then you can also change the design as you see fit, and have automotive celebs sign your valve covers
or just go crinkle black
holmd90 7 months ago
@holmd90 or maverick power by viper like the old valve covers use to say power by ford. its just and idea
fordmaverick1970yel 7 months ago
Did u just order that engine or what and how much does it cost

@SexyJewBoy7 No, I was looking for a Ford V10 on Craigslist and found this one instead and it was cheaper!!! Only 12,000 miles on it too!

What a car !!! But I have a question. At 0:36 starts one song, some guitar solo play. Does anybody know its name? Thanks
