most of my friends can't handle listening to Daniel Johnston. I tried to play Hi How are You for a few people and they complained until I turned it off. Then I made them watch The Devil and Daniel Johnston and all of a sudden they were interested. I think it's because he's insane and they like that kind of thing. I wish they would have seen him for what I do instead of just being curious as to what a crazy person sings about.

I've always enjoyed this one of his. I don't think people give Daniel enough credit intellectually. One of the most impressive things you can do as an artist is take something really simple and leave it open to hundreds of different and complex interpretations.

thats true but you have to also take into consideration that at this time he had dropped so much acid and done so many drugs that he was freaking out. he tried killing his father and manager by knocking them over the head with a lead pipe and baptizing them

man this song is so true of the state of US citys. ALl my friend were vampires didnt know they were vampiers truns out i was a vimpier my self in the devil town. I think he saying that everyone piristies off each other and never gives anything back, then he found that even he was doing it.
