Very intersting, did you get the engine to fly? im fortunate enough to have abit of that oxidizer and i might wanna try to make a rocket, ive made some micro rockets with this oxidizer and tissuepaper as fuel, rolled into a alufoilcasing, total weight with stick was just below 2gr. ;)

@skyisthelimitinc hope the engines you made were curtosy of my other vid :), the problem with this fuel isnt getting rockets airbourne, thats the easy part, its getting the motor to not explode, so be carefull, btw if you didnt know this is simply 2 tsp of powdered sodium chlorate and 3tsp of powdered sugar, add a little iron oxide and mix well, have fun

just add lead dioxide taken out from a lead acid battery to your chlorate sugar mixture that will do it

i dont think chlorate is a good oxidizer for a rocket.

Ah yes, Sodium Chlorate. A brilliant oxidiser...

Although the sale of sodium chlorate has been banned, its use and production isn't, at least until May next year. It's easy enough to make your own sodium chlorate, just heat up some salty water and pass an electric current through it.

PUT THAT CAR BATTERY DOWN! Two 6V lantern batteries will do.

if you cant get chlorate why you dont make your own? you can make it from salt and sodium hypochlorite(bleach) by boiling. or electrolysis of salt whit SS cathode and few dry cell battery graphite rod and power supply.

Yes big problem I do use it as a weed killer. I recently used 3kg on my paths now I find I could have sold that on eBay for about £40 ;-(

The answer now is to make the stuff trying stainless steel and carbon rods etc.

Sodium chlorate weedkiller has been banned from sale to the public EU Directive 91/414/EEC except for 'essential uses' , you can buy pure sodium chlorate from a good chemical supplier , its really not that difficult to get hold of !!

i no the mix! but i gess i cant tell no one right? still he hasnt told me the persentages.... ive made it with soduim chlorate weed killer, not pure and it worked out ok, but it wasnt as cool as this. i will keep trying and then i will message my good friend gr8daym8 to ask him im if its right...any way...keep blowing things up every one!

am only thinking but if u put that in a small container (film canister) put a fuse in it. It may make a small bomb.btw whats whats the mixture

yea, it may well do, this propellant burns faster than some peoples black powder surprisingly, i'll have to try the film canister thing but i dont have any fuse at the moment, i'll reveal the mixture soon when i make the vid on how to make the rocket
