  • Great Christmas tune,,,, or for when one might need a stay at the asylum...

     The Doctor

  • Mortals are so funny!! :D But im a light guardian and have a greater lifespan and am less easily hurt. I dont hafta worry bout getting hit by a car. If anyone made this a rap (Chiaenrra and Cthulhu forbid!! *expression of horror*) it would totally make everyones ears bleed but its okay and actually cool this way.

  • @WarriorHawkSpirit And you thin that'll save you from the Great Old Ones? Really?? ARE YOU ABSOLUTELY SURE????? THAT'S MADNESS, I TELL YOU, MADNESS!!!!!!!! MAD- *cough* *gurgle*

    Phn'glui Mglw,nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh Wgah'nagl Fhtagn!

  • @steampunkstan Ive been ALIVE as long as the Old Ones. I used to sing Cthulhu lullabies. Lullaby, lil soul-eater. The stars are right once more. When you grow up later youl wreak chaos to the land. So pleaase fall asleep and dont devour meeee where i staaaaaand.... Oh memories.

  • They took my 16 year old friend off for a 5 day "evaluation" from the hospital.... Wish him well... Dr. Theda

  • @DrTheda735 How did he get on?

  • If it was not for my pumpkin patch needing my attention ...I would take a short stay at the "Looney Bin" I have weekly group tomorrow.... I use the Pumpkin Patch as my way of dealing with mental issues I enjoy this song and am trying to hold in there as best I can for now...Dr. Theda

  • *hysterical laughter* *stops*.... (;,,;)

    Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn

  • Based on "Away In A Manger ", a Christmas song

  • 5 People are currently in the madhouse.

  • @damnarae i would say the opposite, in fact. those poor dear sane people.

  • Charles Dexter Ward sings this all the time.

  • omfg stuck in my head put this on facebook, remix it make it a rap.

  • @PeopleFailed

I will lobotomize you if you suggest anything like that again.

  • @PeopleFailed If this were turned into a rap (Cthulhu forbid) it would ruin it. (;,;)

  • Singin this one tomorrow XD

  • Somehow I'm going to be hearing THIS version in my head for Christmas services at church.

Oh yeah...I'm so going to hell!!!

  • oh and also, this reminds me of Tzeentch from Warhammer [he the chaos god of change, all his followers are insane :) ]

  • @thegrief13

Hell, ALL followers of Chaos are insane, not just those who follow Tzeentch :D

  • @Promenius

    I'm not JUST insane...

  • @thegrief13 Maybe a little. I can see it.

Also, only most of them are insane. ;D

  • lol i agree, ITS HELL OUT HERE!!! XD

  • cant wait for christmas im going to pull a few of these songs out when carrolnig :)

  • im gonna love singing these soon hehe

  • THE MAD HOUSE WITH HOUSE .was a real place its name was danverse state hospital it was a scary looking place that sat ontop of a hill in danverse massachusetts it was also part of the old salem village the asylum was built on what was one time one of the judges houses. it is now burnt down and what was left is no condo apartments .

I also live in the city of haverhill whre love craft wrote alot about chtullu

  • i soo scared right now 0.o"

  • Witch House FTW!!!! Does anyone else think that Emilie Autumn should do a cover of this?

  • i love this song, its one of my favourites

the only song i know the words to

  • Creepily one of the best songs I've ever heard. The last part is what really ties it to Lovecraft but it does that unbelievably well. I can see how many of his protagonists might be glad to hide in an asylum and may even hope they're mad. The outside is Hell, as the song puts it.

  • I didn't understand a few of the lyrics. First it goes "Away in a madhouse, confined to my bed... nightmares that filled me with dread" I don't know what went in the ... spot. Later "Mind-numbing pills, they change my behavior to kill all my..." I don't know what that word was. Very funny, if disturbing, song though.

  • @Rtyeta "To cure all my ills"

  • @Rtyeta away in a mad house, confined to my bed, from visions and nightmares, that filled me with dread, a doctor has sweetly inserted a probe, to sever completely my pre frontal lobe, electroshock therapy, mind numbing pills, they change my behavior to cure all my ills, I love the asylum my own padded cell, Ill stay here forever, for outside its hell.

  • OMG - that was just AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sickeningly sweet. Love the mood whiplash caused by using the old cliched tune... XD

  • Ahhhhhh! I love it :) sounds like a normal day

  • I told a friend about this song and we ended up making up a sort of parody of it. An X-rated, somewhat disturbing parody, but I think that fits Lovecraft's work overall anyway. Anyway, it's just a great song, so easy to catch yourself singing it randomly during the day!

  • Oh jeeez, I love this one !!!! Fantastic.... Beyond great

  • This is brilliant! Well done.

  • Avatar graphics+lovecraftian creatures.

  • Any movie based of a lovecraft story would be a million times better than avatar.

  • @Numenorean921 There are plenty of movies already out there based on lovecraft. None of them are as good as Avatar. To tell a story, you need imagery. I said Avatar graphics, not avatar the movie. If you could flesh out lovecraft's beings, such alien and unimaginable creatures, with the quality that avatar presents, I think it could lay down great potential. You're arguing against a point I didn't even make anyway.

  • @failedassassin For me the thing that makes HP Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos creepy is the notion that the beings and entities are so ridiculously foreign to our finite and intellectual brains and sensory organs. Perhaps on the big screen an entity of this quality would be hard to reproduce. But one may try I guess. I'd like to keep my dark notions to myself anyway! Happy spring!

  • fthagn!

  • Aw, mortals are so funny. Cute song.

  • Have you notice the expression that these mortals do when they see us? I love the way they scream, cry as they lose sanity!

  • I know, right? I'm not even sure what the poor little snacks are scared of.

  • Maybe they dont like non-euclidian geometry tentacles?

  • ummm, maybe because they don't want to be your next bag of cheetos?

  • @hnoss13 And I suppose you powerful demon creatures all have youtube accounts, right?

  • @TheHyena42 Of course we do. We have accounts everywhere and in everything. Keep praying to your computer and we'll come get you.

  • Zstickney may have something there. Education is key, and our current system is severely lacking.

  • This sounds like something out of The Phantom of The Opera. o_o...

  • F'tagn'tom of the Opera.

  • @NihilCBR

that is one of the best puns i have ever heard.

    you win an internet

  • lawl'd severely.

  • I agree with Darkstar here although the sheer scale of an Old One would be terrifying. Could post-traumatic stress disorder be one of the causes as well?

  • The idea is that the images given are the best things that the minds looking at them can come up with. The idea is that these creatures are so alien, so foreign and unreal that they're basically brain crackers since our minds can't comprehend them.

  • Well, I think that it's more like 'cause of the Great Old One's power, it is so vast, that even in the death-like slumber, it causes man to go insane, because the mind is overflown by the sheer power of the presence of the Great Old One.

  • I think it also has to do with their scale. I grew up in a suburban neighborhood, and the first time I saw a full size skyscraper up close I actually fell down because I was put off balance looking up, and up, and up....

And the Great Old Ones are supposed to be the size of mountains, at least. Seeing something that astronomically, unnaturally large that's ALIVE would be enough to put anyone off.

  • I agree. The person who wrote this song must have had a similar reaction upon witnessing in flesh and blood the Great Old One. Without proper education regarding the scale and brilliance of it's power one can be taken aback and, apparently, be driven nigh to insanity. This is why I think Obama should make serious strides in Great Old One education reform.

  • Are you for real??

  • @zstickney sure, some activated strand of another animal that has a different vibration than you would be frightful but different enough to spark curiosity after the scream and finding some hideous way of trapping other people with it and fulfilling your own desires to things. New-thoughts.

  • @returnoftheramble excuse the grammar, would be tempting.

  • You don't believe in Him. You'd obviously freak out when you see Him.

  • Cultist: Another potential member in the loony bin. *Sigh* Maybe we should save the necronomicon and the crazy dreams for after they are in the cult, I hear brochures are an effective strategy!

  • lol

  • ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn ia ia cthulhu fhtagn

    Praise mighty lord Cthulhu!!!!

  • Cthulhu fhtagn!

  • Can you write an ebonics version of that? I'd like to know how to pronounce it. ^^

  • Cthulhu can easily own Edward, so stfu.

  • Well, Eddi is going to have to stand in line behind the Hounds Of Tindalos... I'm afraid they are not going to leave enough of me for poor Eddi to eat.

  • Hehehe.....Very nice song, aabeeceed

  • Mike, how do u find these things...?

  • Very easily. Just do a search related to The Great Old Ones or Lovecraft in general

  • no, Mike, i was bein a lil less literal. i was wonderin how in the world U learn of these things to begin w/

  • I've got the books if you ever want to read some of it. I'm always surprised by how many people dont know of Lovecraft

  • I know that feeling, I am a roleplayer and my friends have even tried the game call of cthulhu, and some of them still asks me who Lovecraft is:( makes me sad

  • wanna have lyrics of it!

  • away in a Mad House, confined to my bed. From visons and nighmares, that fill me with dread. The doctor has sweetly inserted a probe, to sever completely; my pre-frontal lobe. Electro-shock therapy, mind numbing pills. They change my behavior, to cure all my ills. I love the asylum, my own Padded cell! I'll stay here forever, for outside its hell..!
  • wow that was quick. Thank you very much!!

  • "away in a Mad House,

    confined to my bed.

    From visons and nighmares,

    that fill me with dread."

I think this refers to the Dream Cycle that Lovecraft wrote

  • Could be, or it could be a tongue-in-cheek reference to they artists who went insane from Cthulhu's dreams.

  • guess what xD

    you are right xD

    -Sten0ne

    Ia Ia Cthulhu Fhtagn!

  • ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn ia ia cthulhu fhtagn

  • I want to go caroling with this song! And after people throw things at me, I can go home and wait for my presents!

  • I did this last year. I got cookies.

  • I also did "If I was a Deep One."

  • LOL this song rocks!

  • Anyone wants to try and find that play?

    :D

  • its a shoggoth on the roof

  • You know this song is very addictive and easily remembered. I was working at Wal-Mart and began singing this without even thinking and the customer i was checking out got freaked and left my line. I began to laugh and explain it to the woman be hind the person that left and she laughed her head of..figuratively and literally.

  • LOL XD

  • Life is hard when you don't sing the same Christmas songs that everyone else does. XD

  • @ElveeKaye i know right, seriously this is why i'm not allowed to go outside during that time of year

  • @ElveeKaye If nowbody recognizes it, its no problem. i sang Silent Night, Blasphemous Night in a church and nobody had a problem with it

  • You win one internet, my friend

  • Its funny because its true.

  • Great song I sang it and the others from the cd on a road trip for a group I'm in. The others especialy the other advisors now wan't to know why I am singing this. ANd why I suggested we go to Arcum insane assylum for a trip.

  • That's great!

  • I now sing this on the bus travelling to work.Inspired.Thanks for posting!!!!!

  • thanks millomanning for put the lyrics here ^^

  • no problem at all :D

  • Away in a Madhouse confined to my bed

from visions and nightmares that filled me dread

A doctor has sweetly inserterd a probe

to sever completely my pre-frontal lobe

    Electro-shock therapy, Mind numbing pills

they change my behavior to cure all my ills

I love the asylum, my own padded cell.

I'll stay here forever for outside its hell

  • ...LOL?!

  • because looking at cthulhu makes you go insane if you don't die first.

  • but that might not be the cause of his insanity...

  • Because anything and everything in the mythos will completely BLOW YOUR MIND. It's actually a huge part of the Call of Cthulhu RPG.

  • I've read three and a half mythos anthologies so far, and am still mentaly stable. some were even lame, NOT all of them, but like "the colour from outer space", or something like that, was pretty mild for a mythos story.

  • You can't spread the pure essence of fear with letters. Maybe if you saw a shoggoth in Real life, lets see how you do then.

  • meh, depends. I'm messed up as is, so, I'd much reather deal with a shoggoth than a byahkee.(BOO HASTER! YAY CTHULHU!)

  • Because most of the mytho's stories deal with madness.

  • madness?, madness? this is R'lyeh!

    madness its JOCK CULTURE

i fuking hate te fucking sports, they are so stupid and boring around here, its like see growg the grass

  • ok well that was random

  • hahah hillariously random :P

  • Omg, best song in the universe. >.>

  • Same artists, but a different album

  • This is also from a Shoggoth on the Roof?
