I had thought about writing him more in the style of Paul Reuben's original stage portrayal, but it was decided that it would be better to just stick with the "Pee-Wee's Playhouse" slightly toned version of the character. Mostly due to the idea that Harley might actually date that version, whereas we wanted her to not want to date him ;)
