Well that's not entirely true. In Oct. 2005 I was reading in USA Today and they had a front pg. article regarding whether or not GM would have to file for bankruptcy or not.

And sure enough.

The problem was the spike in gas prices.

Bush let the speculators inflate oil prices and then that's what broke the back of the American companies.

By the time oil prices collapsed it was too late - the economy was in too bad shape for them to get their shit together in time.

Well what happened was that Bush inflated the money supply to pay for his war and his pork programs.

The easy money policy that Greenspan got strongarmed into adopting led to the top-heavy "real estate boom" that only benefitted those who already owned homes and/or who were familiar with the real estate business.

Now Obama is having to jump over fire just to keep the country from imploding. And he's not doing a very good job.

Although I think given the job, there isn't much he can do.
