Well, I've justed listened to Matthew Santos and yes, Jeff's magic is there as well, but Reeve has that haunted thing that came through Buckley's voice and guitar, otherworldly... I hope they both break into their own sound since they are both fine musicians in their own right. There can only be One Jeff.

@titcdrum As far as I've heard the Guibert-approved version has full rights to Jeff's music. I think the other film is called 'Greetings from Tim Buckley' or something very similar, and Penn Badgely (Gossip Girl's, err, leading boy) is playing Jeff in that. But I don't think they've got rights to Jeff's music so I think it'll focus on Tim with a bit about the relationship with Jeff - but then Jeff was a kid when Tim died so why would they need an adult actor?
