Definitely not true. Nearly everyone I came across was genuinely nice. If you're asking if local girls are interested in dating foreigners... some don't because they know you'll likely be gone in a few months. Some do, especially because some have "white fever" (if you're caucasian). I had a blast, and I definitely didn't get the feeling that local girls didn't like me.
@xxxsde UST actually has a lot of foreigners. im studying there right now. they have a lot of fun and hang out with each other a lot. as for the locals, most locals who were previously in international schools or studied abroad would definitely welcome you into their groups! the other locals might be a bit shy but once you guys get along, they have as much fun as any other people.. its awesome here, wonder what you chose!
hey, i think im going to be there for this fall semester. ive heard classes are pretty hard, what have you noticed? how difficult would it to get an A in ur hardest class? and also, it seems like the guys:girls ratio is pretty uneven towards the guys side.
Some courses are ridiculously easy in comparison to the US, especially if you are a native English speaker (my role in my management courses basically revolved around proofreading :P). However, I did learn a few things from the courses.
Some courses (particularly finance & math) don't include insanely difficult content, but become hard due to the high degree of competition/unfavorable grading curve.
Getting an A in the easier type courses I mentioned is no problem. I have no experience with the finance/math courses. All in all, classes are not much more difficult/easy than my home university.
For men, the girls/guys ratio is awesome! On campus and within the exchange group of students it seemed about 50/50. However, Hong Kong is filled with single women, and as an exchange student you can play multiple markets: exchange girls, locals, and mainlanders!
I can't post links in comments unfortunately, but if you want to know more about the Hong Kong guy/girl ratio, google: "the dark side being a wife girlfriend in hong kong blows"
@VaniStarz IS courses at HKUST? I only took ISOM Security & Auditing while abroad there. Terrible class. Doesn't really teach anything. No programming.
Are the dorms only for undergraduate's student?

Just go! It was the single best decision I have made in my life to date! I had an absolute blast. My only regret was being so hesitant about going.
Exchange girls have fun as well! Everyone has an insane amount of fun and experiences.

I take Management & Info Systems courses here (BBA). Tuesday/Thursday classes only for maximum travel :P.
Night life is awesome. You'll probably end up in LKF (Lan Kwai Fong) or Wan Chai for most night life. Otherwise the campus Unibar is decent.

hey
Do they also have single rooms?
momo77h 2 years ago
Yes they do. I believe only Hall VII has them. They cost a bit more, but the rooms are cheap as is and it might not be a bad idea.
My friend got into a single room by saying that she "sleepwalks"
