Amo a Meredith Monk. Me encantaría poder ver alguna de sus presentaciones. En Argentina no conozco a nadie que trabaje esta línea. Si conocen, me avisan. Realmente me interesa mucho. Gracias
I hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it. And yet the sound is so amazing, intriguing what she has done with techniques for the greatest instrument that my admiration goes hand in hand for the disdain for the music. It's beautiful, but I hate it. That's talent when you can evoke two feelings out of the same person with one piece. (Of course I have heard a lot of other Meredith Monk, and it all draws the same reaction from myself.)
for me, Meredith Monk is an extremely exciting artist. the feeling of her recent mercy and current Impermanence Project as interdisiplinary artworks are astounding. her work from the 70s sounds amazing eack time i play the recordings. thank you for posting these small clips... my only hope is more Monk on youtube.
She is prolific. Meredith monk has the kind of voice that reminds you of what can be accomplished without the unnecessary distractions of talent, melody, harmony and tone. She is a beacon of stupidity and others gravitate towards her like a moth to the flame. Her works surpass all that is great into a realm of Moos and hums. Now on to John cage…
Meredith Monk is one of the leading artists of her generation. She's a contemporary artist, so obviously people the living in her generation aren't always going to get her (which is also why Van Gogh wasn't appreciated as his time. As for John Cage - the man's work may not be aesthetically pleasing as other musicians - his ideas were radical and revolutionary I doubt any composer today would easily dismiss his role in the evolution of musical ideas.

I took a workshop with her a little over ten years ago. Wonderful, warm, witty woman.
