underground movies...you know we've all seen them the bad voice overs lips not matching what they're saying. Thats how they became popular, jet lei's first american film was leathal weapon 4 and even in that film that had to water it down so mel gibson could some what keep up.
i agree with Leeuniverse, bruce lee was really the FIRST asian to be featured in a film released in america, any other asian film that we would watch growing up was released produced an stared 95% asians. Hell look at any martial arts film in the late 80's through the 90's most have had blk white hispanic or ameri-asian actors, jackie chan an jet lei as big of actors they are gained most of there fame over seas first before hitting america. they made a buzz over here based on alot of there
1. Whites, Blacks, Asians, etc. are portrayed as stars and otherwise according to the "amount" of such in the country. Thus, your argument is invalid. The same exists in any other country. Tell me, in Asian movies how often do you so whites? How often are whites actually acted by whites? Point is, is it's nothing to do with racism. Sure, some existed in the past, but long gone, and certainly no worse than any other country, thus your argument is invalid on all fronts.
NICE!!! It's rare that hollywood would show an Asian guy doing anything with a white girl much less kiss and have sex with her but this series has broken all those bad stereotypes and let the Asian man be the hero....and to think it was back in the early 90's is really a big surprise.
Eventually more Asian men will get roles like this (John Cho in Startrek among others) and rise up against stupid Hollywood ignorance.
Are you kidding??? Those "stereotypes" were already long gone by the 90's. As well, it's not as if EVERY CULTURE hasn't had the same kinds of stereotypes against those not of their kind, INCLUDING ASIAN cultures, so spare us your holier than thou. Anyway, Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan are really the men of the hour. Also, where have you been??? The "amount" of stars are according to the culture they are from moron. Or are you telling me in China there are just as many "white" stars as Chinese?
@leeuniverse How am I kidding? Asians have never had a starting role in any triple A movies until the mid 90's or so and even till this very day most of the recently released flicks has white playing the dominant role where an Asian should be playing; need I remind you of Dragon ball staring a white actor in place of an Asian actor and pretty much everything else. If you want I can do a search of some other movies (prolly won't take me long) and I will find whites staring in place of Asian.
@leeuniverse BTW, my original comment was saying that Asian men and white women has never had a role where they are together as a main couple and it is valid argument because in the early 90's none of the movies portray it besides this one and maybe one other but that's about it. Name me some other American made production that has a Male Asian staring in a major role beside Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan during that time frame to which my original comment states?
One other thing.... Asian cultures are still way more "racist" than Americans are. I know not only be observation but because I married a Chinese, had three kids, and she ended up leaving me because of her racist and elitist friends and family.
@leeuniverse Wooah there calm down a bit. If your wife was racist she wouldn't have married you in the first place much less having sex with you and having three kids with you so your argument has no validity.
FYI.... Some "cultural" brainwashing is hard to break. Many Asians especially marry whites because they think they will have a better/richer life. Second, I said her family and friends are quite racist and elitest. Not so much her, but she was convinced to do wrong by them by stating bigoted and elitest statements to her. Plus, her family is rich, and I'm not yet and I'm fat, so to them lazy, so she felt justified. There are other things about it that makes it much worse, but anyway....

@VersionBest You're right. In the 90s movies you would see white males with asian females. Like in White Tiger and similar films.
