I heard you should try to catch the snake that bit you and bring it with you to the hospital. just grab it by the tail and whip around over your head till you get it into your car. drive real fast and do the same when you bring it into the ER.

Using a tourniquet will slow the spread of the venom, but will increase the amount of permanent damage done to the affected area. At the tissue's time of greatest need for nutrition, you would be cutting it off. On the other hand, the time gained could save the person's life.
