A very broad range of interpretation of "Literacy in the 21st Century". Interesting how these teachers interpret how modern technology affects "literacy". Modern technology provides additional tools to help learn at all levels.
"Multiple literacies but literacy taught using the same strategies and structures" also rang true with me. It's still gardening but just a more varied vegetable patch. I will be referring back to this. Thank you.
I found this video informative for my course, what is literacy. However I felt as though the teachers did not have a full understanding of literacy, some but not all. Thanks for this video.
I work in Detroit where there is between 47 and 49% adult illiteracy. Special provisions need to be made to communicate with parents who cannot understand something as simple as a note from a teacher. People cannot read the directions on their medicine bottles.
This is not rare in urban environments in the United States, and I strongly suspect that it also widely found in impoverished rural environments.

I was interested in finding out about different kinds of literacy, so I viewed this video. At 6:50 the word multiple is misspelled.

"Outdoor literacies" Haha, are you serious? They're just making these up. We've always had literacies with outdoors, what are you smoking?
