  • Get a hair cut! Or at least a comb.

  • How come this doesn't show you "walking" ie the motion up and down with each step?

  • I just placed a order for this. Can't wait :D

  • Awesome video.

Next, you should review a comb.

  • @djurmaine I've noticed many of these glidecam/steadicam video are perfectly balanced when the youtuber is standing still but the moment they start walking, you start to see some wobble or up and down movement.

I have made my own diy steadicam I honestly, I have very minimal movement compared to this video. check out my 'jmz films wedding highlight reel 2011' and you'll see my diy steadicam in action. I use it in all my weddings. Btw, I use no arm rest and I'm using DSLR

  • I appreciate the vid dude! Thank you! I love your charisma, energy, and excitement to help inform others in this vid! It really makes a difference to watch a tutorial made by someone who actually wants to share their findings with eagerness. Thank you once again!

  • i like ur explanation of checking when u know it works, but ur shoots are pendling and ur movement forward needs a regular speed.but that issue i know its a matter of practice and overall u helped me really a lot.keep it up man

  • r u really the "Hutch" from the big smoke?

  • Your the MAN

  • How heavy is heavy?

  • Is this as good as it balances? cause my homemade pvc pipe and bike peg steadicam looks way smoother than this.

  • Once you set up the weights, do you have to re adjust them every time you shoot, or only when you change lenses, add a mic, etc. ?

  • THANK YOU. Its was essentially, screw the drop time bull crap, you flail it around and prove yours is correct.

  • you seem to know what you're talking about. I'm currently in the marked for a steadycam and it's hard to decide on a product. My gear is a Canon 60D (including several expensive and heavy lenses and a videomic pro)... what should I go with? is glidecam 1000 the best choice, if so why?

  • Házilag nem lehet ilyet csinálni?:D

  • i think i got sea sick from your demonstration...

  • Dude, What's up with your hair? Looks like you got your Rogain mixed up with the Viagra! ;-) j/k. Great information, thx.

  • @Ninamashr OK that was only funny cause you added the j/k to it :)

Hey the video was meant to be informative not stylish :)

  • Now I need some ginger tablets, thanks.

  • The sound signal is clipping, the lines in the video are jagged and that's a badly lit place for shooting. Otherwise informative video.

  • @Dommedagsprofet Thanks - yeah - I know its not ideal - these videos were me sorting of talking myself through the process

  • Very cool. Not perfect but looks like a great product fir the price

  • all ya really need is a tripod. ya just have to extend the legs then balance it out ...

  • thanks dude, this video is awesome

  • This was an incredibly helpful video! Thank you so much!

  • Will any quick release plate work with the Glidecam HD-1000?

  • Good video. I have a quick question though. Can you tilt up or down with a glidecam?

  • O MY GOD... Thank you SOOO much for posting this!!!! I have the Original 1000 PRO & have just been scratching my head as to why it doesn't' seem to be staying steady when I move it side to side... Mine didn't come with a manual, so i've been lost, but this really helped... On my way to Home Depot to pick up some washers lol thanks again man! -B

  • Thank you for this video i found it EXTREMELY helpful your right the other videos and articles do not go into depth enough thank you for your time

  • Its still too wobbly.

  • @FilmMakerAndyLunn Totally. It's like a swaying cruise ship - dizzying.

  • I like the video and you made it more convincing for me to get a camera stabilizer like this one

  • Glidecam... Is this the one from ebay? If so, they work suprisingly well. Thanks for uploading this.

  • Is glidecam HD 1000 suitable for canon T2i??

  • Thanks for posting! How much was the arm rest?

  • Nice video, thanks for the review

  • thanks for the video

  • wow i am from Brazil in south america and i really liked your video from down here kudos very well done. tutorial ...

  • Haha, no offense, but you obviously have no idea what you are doing.

  • @TheSteadicamGuy Thanks. Without the no offense clarification I might have thought this was just a random snarky comment but now that I have read the rest of the feedback and advice I can see how true and helpful your comments are. The arm works much better now - thanks for contributing to the discussion.

  • @jaredx2 No problem my friend. :) I would love to see an update video sometime to demonstrate your improvements.

  • @jaredx2 rofl. owned.

  • @jaredx2 Since today I have the glidecam 1000 and i think I`m in hell.No chance to balance my Sony HDR SR11.How many weights to use,I try everything...there is not one helping video how to balance it.Only jump-videos in the bath.I think I should jump to,but from a house....

  • @TheSteadicamGuy

You must dedicate your life to watching steady cam vids by the look of you name. You must have no life. But your a hating fag, This video was helpful.

  • Dude, what's the name of that armrest contraption you have with the metal thing sticking out of it? Did you buy that or make it? If you made it, can you show us how?

    Great vid, nonetheless!

  • Thanks man! I bought one of these things used for $20.00 ! But I didn't know how to set it up. No wonder I couldn't get it to work right. This was extremely helpful.

  • another comment . sorry but you have quite a bit of wobble on your shots. This just reminds me that just like a cup of tea in the back of a moving limo. the passenger wants you to be that smooth so as to not spill . all good though and love the bass!

  • I just got an HD2000 the other day and I was a little annoyed myself with the "quick release plate" and I immediately thought of doing something like what you did. What kind of (REAL) quick release plate did you use? And did you have to do anything tricky to mount it?

Also my camera is way too light for the 2000, but I guess that's better than too heavy? Any good ideas for increasing the weight on the camera end to get a proper balance?

    Thanks!

  • Sorry i just saw your question about weight . what i did with a lighter camera . i mean really light , was use coins, i live in London UK, so we have 1p 2p 5p 20p 50 pence pound coins and two pound coin. with some Blu tac, white which ever .its stickey . or u can go gaffa tape? meaning say a pound coin a 2p coin etc till u get the correct balance. Sure the makers of the steady cam won't say this, but its all creative . i hope that helps...pl tell how u get on. if u do it like that

  • Will you be able to mount a Canon 500D on this?, I'm looking at getting one.

  • Will this work with a DSLR camera?

  • I think that company out of India makes a arm bracket that also comes around the elbow.

  • Hey man I found your video to be a very good overview of setting up the glide cam and this method also works well for the flycam - thanks for taking the time. I found it really useful.

  • Hi you want to try plastering to build up your required muscles, Buy your self a trowel and hawk, and get to it.

    Nice vid by the way.

  • Thanks for this video. I just got my HD1000 yesterday and could use some advice. I am a novice and am using a small Sony HDR-SR11 right now. It weighs just over a pound and also has a WA lens. I did all the balancing according to the manual and it seems fairly good. When I walk however, the camera seems to rotate to the right on me (not tilt or sway). At the bearing it rotates. Is this normal?? Also, I only have one weight plate on each end of the sled. Is that normal?

  • definitley appreciate this device but you can never get a real 2 hour movie filmed without some sorta shake from a 1000 dollar camera !

  • Thanks, useful!

  • I'm struggling to see the point in the contraption... I stumbled upon this video by accident when looking for test shots. Could someone explain to me the concept of the Glidecam??

  • makes the videos SUPER smooth when recording Click on that one in the ralted videos by peti1212 it shows exactly how well it works... It's worth it

  • Oh, one more question. Could you please tell me where I can go buy those arm accessory thing of yours? Thank you very much.

  • I love the quick release plate.

    Good job.

I have since modified my Glidecam 2000 and removed the weights and now using a KS8 Gyro. This unit is the bomb.

No more over pan shots. It holds the image perfectly.

  • What background noise am I hearing? The DV taping or computer or what? Detailed video, thank you.

  • A very LOUD computer cabinet behind me.

  • Wow, fast response. That scares me. :) Great video.

  • Nah - you comment - I get an email - I answer it :)

    Thanks. I should do more.

  • Keep up the Vlogging. I have Sub'd (hint hint, LOL) jk. No wait , I really did.

  • Which quick release plate are you using?

  • A QuicKonnect Quick Release from Microcenter.

  • great!

  • Thanks Jared. Not bad!

  • Excuse my english.... This works with a Panasonic Mini DV PV-GS ?

  • yeah

  • what is the name of that quick release plate? Thanks in advance

  • A QuicKonnect Quick Release from Microcenter.

  • @jaredx2 When I film things like this people always look at me and the camera, did you tell the people in the library you were filming first? How did you keep them from looking into the camera

  • When I film things like this people always look at me and the camera, did you tell the people in the library you were filming first? How did you keep them from looking into the camera

  • @brainsboy I am filming all the time - people are used to me walking around and they DONT want filmed.

  • wow! the best is from 5:48

  • I know! I removed the heavier top mount and replaced it with something a little lighter and am still trying to get it balanced - I am working on it. I really appreciate all the comments.

  • i'm sorry but that "glide" is not balanced at all... your shoot is very far... far... to be smooth.

  • I know! I'm working on it - never claimed it or the next were perfect!

  • jaredx2 you are applying too much energy into the Glidecam with your left hand, and so your shots are too wobbly.

  • Thanks - I realize that! I am still working on it!

  • jaredx2, Is the gimbal adjustable on the 1000? if so then raise it up towards the stage so you can use less weight. Or better yet, buy a Steadicam from Tiffen or an Avaitor MX like the one I bought from VariZoom. It's awesome.

  • the Merlin is poor at best ....can't control it via its surfaces.

  • thanks for the video, but you're not quite perfect. IS the merlin any better?
