@xxbal1inxx With a 300,000 btu outdoor furnace to use the wood, it would be a waste of our time to use a mere dump truck. This way we only have to handle the logs once, we cut them and toss them. Using a dump truck, yea it's already cut, and the cost of it being already cut is passed onto us.
@mike198748 At least somebody understands how to beat the power companies. Don't see much of that; all we hear is 'Go with this company, they're a great value.' I say do the same thing as these guys are doing here.
ive run with that truck b4 when Dave L owned it it'll kepp up with ya ,lol i wish they still built power like that. Going green is a load of brown. log on!
Heh, reminds of when Scania's tech department was told to make a Green engine that was Euro 5 compliant, So what did they do ?
They developed the largest, most powerful V8 they've ever made to date.
(16 Liter V8 with 620 HP)
I guess that just goes to show what the techheads thought of "going green", sometimes you just gotta love those geeky techheads that simply don't understand the word "green". :)
@dueltruck700 I told him to make it a good one cause I was putting it on Youtube. I have another one uploaded of him, like a yr later doing the same thing.
@tpvalley No, we can light a fire, say like now, in October as we just did. And check it once every 24 hours if its a 38 degree day and up. If it's colder of course we check it twice a day, but with a 48" deep x 30" firebox you can load the hell out of it. So the heavier you load it the longer you can go without touching it. It keeps us and our water warm.
@tpvalley It's a cute contraption that came with the furnace. It's a 6 ft piece of 1/2" rebar with a shovel welded on the end of it and a T handle. It works great as the ashbox is the same dimensions as the firebox so it has to reach all the way to the back. We are entering our 11th winter for both the shovel and the furnace lol. Well made, quality stuff here.
Bad Ass!Do trees cry when you cut them?Who cares.I took my class A test in 1978 with an Rmodel,Triplex trans, passed with 2 points to spare.Macks rock.
The video doesn't give the slope he's on justice. It was soupy and muddy that day, besides I told him to make a good smoky run because I was putting it on youtube. :)

@DieselSmoke92 It was a sloppy mess that day and it's a pretty steep grade, the video doesn't give that angle justice. But it was a mess.

How cords of firewood are you getting?"Built like a Mack Truck".
generationll 2 years ago
We don't count it by the cord as we use a TON of firewood. As long as it's wet, soggy and rotten, the outdoor furnace doesn't complain.
juniorbud88 2 years ago
Furnace?
Are u forging steel etc?
I used to volunteer at a pumping station where they had huge marine boilers burning coal lumps the size of 2 footballs, intense stuff.
They powered a huge beam engine incase ur interested.
tpvalley 2 years ago
No it's for heating our home and domestic water. Mahoning Outdoor Furnace.
juniorbud88 2 years ago
so do u have to keep throwing logs in or is it automated?
I know of boilers that burn wood chips on an auto system.
tpvalley 2 years ago
throw logs in..It works just like a regular wood stove except it heat water that is pumped into the house to an indoor air handler
theyamaha700 2 years ago
so u have to light fire every morning etc to heat up house?
I saw an automatic wood burning heater that used chippings on TV.
