  • saw jake in a back street pub in Walsall in the seventies.he gave me insperation to pick up a guitar. it was fifty pence t get in, money well spent. R.I.P.jake

  • I've heard this a hundred times and it still makes me laugh. Has anyone else noted that Jake is actually the one who is 'going on again and again...'? A unique genius much missed.

  • Jake was a man blessed with genius when it came to writing and performing as he did, totally transfixing in his stage presence and at the same time delivering songs that made you cry with laughter every time you heard them. Live, i cannot remember anyone else who came near him for entertainment value. A one off incredible talent.

  • They broke the mould when they made Jake.

  • "I love a good bum on a woman it makes my day" Possibly the best first line of a song ever written. What a genius. If you are not familiar with his work look up 'the bull' and 'Sister Josephine'
